While I understand the current frustration of all citizens regarding the economy, the missed opportunity to innovate in Germany (car industry, digitalization....), the far right is not the answer. The concept of democracy being something that is built on the contributions and voices of citizens changed fundamentally when globalization began. Now the concept of democracy is seen as the contributions to larger binding treaties and institutions by nations and global conglomerates by those that levy power, be it the E.U, the Euro, The IMF, The WTO, NATO, BRICKS, etc. Institutions are the new citizens and the literal citizenry are but a means to those ends.

Maybe the real problem is what we have made normal in the last decade or so. The illegal migration, traditional values in families being ruined those sorts of things instead of importing people and having pride parades, you should be promoting families and addressing population decline in that way.
Speaking as a center left American, our "side" both here and in Germany was insufficiently conservative with some of our policies. We can take back the conversation but it's a policy issue fundamentally. Immigration, economy, these things need to be open for discussion. I see ukraine as a security issue but if we're just sending weapons without long range capability then it is a waste of money maybe and need a change of strategy. You can't do war half arsed. On immigration, i understand the frustration of the supporters of the right. On LGBTQ, there are ways to be respectful on both sides, that just needs to be observed and should be common sense. On climate change, it's a huge issue and needs to be tired to the long term economic strategy. But Germany doesn't have any economic strategy right now it seems. So that's a problem. Yeah, i get why people would want anybody different and the far right can promise the moon because they have no history of policy decisions to critique. Easy to talk, but we will see how they govern if the progressive don't get their house in order.
