It’s a beautiful, affordable sports car! It was very loud in the cabin especially in the tiny backseat. With the plug pulled out, it purrs like a panther.
Order some tux mats. They fit absolutely perfect, and you won't have to mess with the carpet until you sell the car. It also helps with the cabin noise and you could even place sound deadening material under the mats. Random lol... Also, you can disable the noise without removing that panel....AND LET ME KNOW IF THIS DISABLED YOUR BLIND SPOT ALERT NOISE.
That’s a good idea! I didn’t hear the Blind Spot Alert noise prior to disabling the fake engine noise. It could be connected but I’m not sure. I wasn’t in a situation to have it go off to alert me before and after disabling the fake engine noise.
Please make sure you let your oil get to temp before revving these motors or even driving! The oil channeling and block design allows for low oil pressure to destroy your internal components if brought to high rpm :(
Oil to temp, yes sure. But revving? Stationary? With no gravity effecting oil slosh and pickup? With the pump running and syphoning oil to distribute? Yeah that’s no problem at all
That depends on how much noise you want to hear. That’s your call. I’m assuming the aftermarket muffler makes noise that is real, compared to the fake sounds. You could try it and see what sounds better.
Nice! ☺️ No, but to be safe I would put it back together. Use a cloth on top of your tool to pry open the plastic cover to get to it. So that you don’t scratch it.
Please use a plastic plaster spreader with the edge wrapped in electrical tape …. The car silently screams when you attack the trim with a screw driver. Enjoy your car!
A huge difference, and so easy to do. 👍🏻
Been looking at one of these, and that would definitely be the first thing I do if I picked one up. Cheers

Yes! Thanks for the advice!

I love Loud!!!
I appreciate 🙏 💛 😌
If I have an aftermarket exhaust do I still need to disable the fake sound?

definitely disable the fake sound
I don’t mind it
Just bought a gr86. Does doing this void your warranty?
Nice! ☺️

And now that loose harness will be rattling around as you didn't secure it to anything.
But yes, piped in sound is annoying.
The harness component was stuff that I don’t think it would move around.
Good point, you could add a small piece of “duct tape” to secure it.
does the 2017 subaru brz premium have this fake engine sound?
I’m not sure.
It might.
id like to know this too, pls lmk if you ever find out
Pretty sure it does

😂 yes your right! I tried to be as gentle as possible
I'm in Begium, Europe, and I'm pretty sure mine doesn't have any active sound control.
Wow Belgium! Really the cars in your area might be made different. You could open up the panel and see.
I'm pretty sure it does tbh because mine sounds fake as fck
@@yvesrogiers8980 You're right, I thought I wasn't hearing it but at higher revs I can hear it now. Will turn it off.
This doesn’t work on RHD model, the clip is on the other side…
Loud?? The car is not loud enough. It's so quiet as is
When you are in 5th or 6th gear and under 3,000 RPMs, it is loud!
@Handywoman mmm...it's honestly dead silent in mind...weird, do you have an aftermarket exhaust?
No
I have sensitive ears.
