Changing a Battery in a Honda Fit
The car battery's main function is to start the vehicle's engine by supplying an electrical current to the starter motor. A starter motor is simply an electric motor that turns your engine on when you switch the ignition.
The battery acts as a surge protector for the car's computer.
While the engine is running, the alternator recharges the battery.
Batteries can last for 3-5 years, but the parts inside will eventually start to degrade, reducing their ability to hold a charge.
Your car battery uses lead and acid to retain a long-lasting and reliable charge. The acid is a solution of sulfuric acid and water. This mixture serves as the electrolyte that triggers the chemical reaction, producing the voltage needed to kick start the engine.
Both of these materials can pose a serious risk to the environment and your health. A sealed battery is safe to handle, but improperly disposing of a battery is dangerous.
AutoZone has a “Core Charge” that is a refundable fee of $22.00 that you pay when purchasing the car battery to encourage you to return your old battery, to be recycled.
Tools that you will need
1/4” ratchet
1/4” extension
10mm socket
10mm wrench
Battery terminal cleaner tool
Battery terminal protector spray
First- Remove the battery bracket that “holds down” the battery.
Pull out the J bolts.
Unscrew the bolts on the terminals.
Always disconnect the negative terminal first. This helps prevent sparks.
Then remove the positive terminal.
Don’t touch the wrench to any metal body part.
Use tools with insulated handles.
The metal tool can act as a conductor, creating a short circuit if it accidentally touches the car's metal body while connected to the battery terminal. You create a direct path for electricity to flow from the battery to the car's body, causing a short circuit.
Never touch the terminals together. Make sure the wrench doesn't bridge between the positive and negative terminals.
Clean the corrosion off the battery terminals for the best connection.
This powdery green substance on the battery terminals is battery corrosion. As the car battery runs, sulfuric acid in the battery releases hydrogen gas. This forms a chemical reaction between hydrogen gas from the battery and oxygen, moisture and salt in the air.
Spray the battery terminals with the battery protector. This will prevent corrosion.

Yes it is.
Nice work babe :) Aaaaahhhhhh ?
I would of rolled it
Didn't have to be so aggressive while removing old mechanism 💀

@@Handywoman okey! Hope it gets the job done. Doesn't look very efficient in the video 😅
Very nice Job .
Just get a sprayer Jesus this is stupid.
🥱
Looks like it takes to long to set up, try the one that you just push the brush in
Hi. Does your unit release hot steam on the detergent dispenser when drying clothes? Mine releases lots of hot steam on the detergent drawers handle.
I don’t use my dryer much. The few times that I do use it, it didn’t release hot steam. Maybe look at your dial setting that you have the cycle on. The spin cycle works really well to get all the excess water out. I let my clothes air dry as much as possible.
how was tool cleanup…what worked
It did dry on the tool that I was using. I used a putty knife to scrap it off. When it’s still wet you could take a rag and wipe it clean. They did suggest WD40 to spray on your tools. I didn’t try that. It wouldn’t hurt to try it, it might make it easier to clean up.
Thank you ! You Rock!!
Thank you for making and sharing your content. This compound should help a pooling problem I am having. Ordering now :)
Can it be painted using white paint?
Yes you can paint it white
I think a roller would have saved you a lot of time.
Unsafe!!
YOU'RE THE BEST!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!
Bro is JACKED🪰
Not to be picky , but I would not have used 15 or 30 felt . Instead , I would have used synthetic underlayment with peel and stick and the nails would be galvanized shank nails with neoprene washers , then I would use silicone chalk to cover the galvanized nails on underlayment and shingles . If no storm damage this roof area it will last 30 to 40 years .
Thank you! I have one very similar to this one. I changed the batteries but have an issue with the display light. The display should light up when tapped at night, but mines not doing that. Any ideas? 🙏🏻
If your Honeywell Home thermostat light isn't working, the most likely causes are: low or dead batteries, a faulty circuit breaker, loose wiring connections, or a potential issue with the thermostat itself; check your power source, inspect the wiring, and try resetting the thermostat.
Good job , Lady .
I love Loud!!!
The manufacturer states not to use this coating on shingles.
Ok I wanted to see what would happen, if I used it on shingles. This roof is so tiny that I thought that it would be a good experiment. It covered the shingles really well.
That's because they slip alot after drying, but there is no better way to bullet proof your shingles. The manufacturer states that so dumb people don't decide to make it a ice skating rink and then try to sue for plain stupidity. You did great, looks great, you will never get another leak there for sure, and that is awesome feeling. IF YOU DECIDE TO DO A WHOLE ROOF WITH THIS MAKE SURE YOU HAVE IMPROVED AIR FLOW UNDER THE ROOF SHEATHING SO MOISTURE ESCAPES THROUGH A GOOD RIDGE VENT AND ADDITIONAL OPENINGS OR A ROOF POWER VENT SO NO MOISTURE DISTURBS THE SHEETING INTEGRITY. YOU WILL HAVE A ROOF FOR A LIFE TIME. BEAT THE SYSTEM BY NOT HAVING TO SPEND EXAGERATED MONEY TO REPLACE ALL THE SHINGLES IF YOUR ROOF HAS NO ROTTED WOOD SHEATHING.
What is u have a door sweep but still have a crack can you put this over the old one ?
I would pull off the old one and replace it with a new one.
Can it be sprayed on and do you think your roof needs a second coat?
I wouldn’t recommend spraying it on. It’s too thick you need to use a roller to roll it on. I could add a second coat. For now I’m just sticking to one coat.
This covering appears to be what's called "aircell" the paper is almost pure asbestos. By moving it at all you release fibers I would not remove this DIY.
The part we trying to figure out, you didn't show, you showed charging, show me where and how to put the inflatable
Do you mean the piece that goes on the tire? You can find the recommended air pressure for your car on a sticker on the driver's side door jamb. The number on the tire itself is the maximum pressure the tire can safely withstand. Park and remove the valve stem caps from each tire. Attach the air hose to the valve stem. Pull the green switch up. Turn on the air and slowly fill the tires to the recommended pressure. Some air dispensers can be set to a desired pressure and will beep when the tire is full. Put the valve caps back on to keep dust out. Repeat the process for the remaining tires, making sure to inflate them to the same pressure.
Looks great! This video actually helped me how to install mine. Thanks
Wonderful work HandyWoman !!!!!🇺🇸❤️
Thank you 😊
Great job! I just had my Sundae model installed today and I’m disappointed. The spray head attachment is low water pressure?, water is splattering some from the nozzle .. and the spray button has to stay pushed in with your finger to work. Bummer.
@@Handywoman May the Schwartz be with ya
@@Flowergrl69 Thank you! That’s too bad. It’s a beautiful faucet. Mine has a strong water pressure. Maybe try cleaning the screen at the nozzle. Or that your water pressure is not that strong.
@@davidcarlin3850 aaahhhhh
Sad part is if she cant afford the proper removal, she definitely threw that out with normal trash and exposed some poor garbage truck or landfill worker to asbestos. If your house is this old that it has wood framing with plaster for walls, the plaster almost always had asbestos mixed in it
From 5:05 onward you show how you use cable ties for the last remaining two holes. However, the same rivets go in these positions as you use in the wheel wells (at 2:30 and beyond).
Ok I didn’t know that. Thanks I was being lazy.
@@Handywoman No problem, you can replace that with the next oil change. To drain the engine oil you'll have to remove the splash shield. Thus you'll have to cut those cable ties. That will be a good opportunity to install those rivets (which are reusable).
Nice Work!
Great install - super job. I have a question - isn't that 1/2-inch mesh? I'm trying to keep bats from returning to my chimney and a 1/2 inch is plenty of room for bats to get through. I was told the mesh needs to be 1/4-inch, but the chimney cap fabricator in my town (who wants $900 for a cap) told me that he doesn't use 1/4-inch mesh. Also, his mesh is aluminum as opposed to stainless steel (the rest of the cap is stainless). Any thoughts or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
I never thought of bats getting in. Yes they would be able to get into the 1/2 mesh. I found this info; There are a number of ways to keep bats out of a chimney, including: Exclusion tubes: A one-way exit that allows bats to leave but not return. These tubes can be made of metal or plastic and installed at the top and bottom of the chimney. Mesh screens: Wire mesh can be placed over the chimney to keep bats out. Chimney caps: A cap with 1/4-inch wire mesh can stop bats from entering. Seal entry points: Seal any openings on the exterior of the home, such as around pipes, vents, doors, and windows. Bat boxes: Installing an alternative home can encourage bats to move out on their own. Call a wildlife control expert: A professional can humanely perform live exclusion to remove bats from the chimney. Bats can enter homes through openings as small as 1 centimeter in diameter Hope this helps
@@Handywoman Thank you so much. Very kind of you to send this information along. I am inclined to use the 1/4-inch mesh under the new cap that has the 1/2-inch mesh, BUT I live in an area where we get snow and ice and I'm told the 1/4" could be an issue for adequate air. Thank you again for taking the time to reply.
Love watching you work lol.
😊
You know, been working on cars whole life, looked at many hundreds of shadetree mechanics videos for various repairs, but I have to tell you, the way you edit the videos (that genius slo-mo part), and your smooth, calm and cadenced demeanor, made watching this video a distinct pleasure so thank you. We had same on 17 Fit. Easy fix but scary when it falls off.

Had a huge reply ready and BAM phone died and lost a masterful comment dammit lol. Long story short, having had her 2017 Fit up on rack right now to get eyes on myself, am glad showed up with extra 91514-TG1-T01 push pins, because even though we replaced the two missing in fender well, underneath are at least two more and wonder of wonders, both gone. FYI Fit owners, that whole thing gets detached and lowered out of way, *every time oil is changed". So po'd rn. NONE of the screws were installed, retainer clip/nuts were missing. And my wife is dragging a splash guard all over LA freeways, and I'm at home 30 miles away and can't do SH. Yeah we gonna talk JIFFYLUBE WANNABES ANYWAYS, for all y'alls Honda owners, this is the big push pin clip that has two visible inside wheel well, no jack required, and two underneath. Total of 6. 91514-TG1-T01 FYI though, Autozone has 3 in the little box in the Dorman section, it says "Honda" on package and is fattest one they have for Honda. About 3/8" thick. AND, you can get a 10 pack of screws with retainer nuts on Amazon, 11 bucks. Use this PN for screws. 90114-SE0-000 Easy peasy, will keep a stash of these handy for *all* the cars, just a standard truss screw. Takes a village lol. Btw UPC on screws is 786552914612, that's from the Amazon page. Brand OAUTOO

Why didnt you put down a membrane then another coat of the material??
I just did one coat because it’s expensive.
does it work with fiberglass roofs
Yes it does work well on fiberglass roofs.
This only lasts like 1 year looking clean it turns yellow after a 1-2 years
Yes, it’s like a pale yellow but at least it still reflects the sun. If you put on another coat, it will stay white.
Can you paint over this?
Yes you can. I used Henry Tropi cool white roof coating. It has to be a roof coating.

What in the hell, I used to change the batteries in these things for a living, and now I'm watching some inbred learn how to read
You could paint it with heat paint. I need this even though i dont have a wood stove or fireplace i have chimney i just want it to not be open at the top. I had a fern growing out of it for a while😅
Thanks for sharing this. I tore mine off last weekend while going through some road construction
Where did you buy the replacement because mine came off, looking at buying one, saw one on Amazon for $40
@38tonystarks I didn’t buy a replacement, I just used the one that I have. I’m sure that one should fit.
Thank you for sharing and step by step details. My son ran over truck tire in middle of freeway and I’ve to deal with repairs now 😢
Completely not proper procedures, they contaminated their entire living space and their crawl space. Insane to follow these two. The white material around the duct is asbestos containing material too, it served as a heatshield. Asbestos is used for its fire-retardant properties. They don't even know they have exposed themselves and others that will inhabit the places where they "removed" asbestos. please be careful there.
Since you’re covering up the shingles anyway and changing the color it would probably be best to put a coat of oil based paint primer on the roof first. They’re really good at blocking chemicals from coming through and discoloring your top coat.
