    This model has had surprising longevity in what is a fast changing world. Good design and versatility are the key

    On my 3rd. Flying the f405, 2205/1700kv with a 6x4 prop on a 4s 3500 lithium ion for a 2 amp cruise at 35mph. 45 min flights are a norm. Great wing.

      Epic setup!

    • @iforce2d
      @iforce2d 5 років тому +1

      Is that a full run of the battery? I get 90 mins with that same setup (except 1806 2300kv motor and 5 inch prop) running down to about 12v pack voltage.

      @middleagedbaldguy6774 5 років тому

      I usually leave a little extra in the pack. Ive murdered several and they get pricey. An hour is plenty for me.

    Great little plane, had mine for years, must give it an airing again sometime.

    best wing ever - I'm biased ;) watch out for the tip stall tough. Cheers!

      Yes I have had a couple of tip stalls, awesome flyer though. I love Flying mine.

    • @alasdair4161
      @alasdair4161 5 років тому

      @@bradleychalenger The good thing with a tip stall and subsequent deep spin with the Z is, the actual impact speed is fairly low if you keep
      the throttle off. Mine doesn't even pop the canopy if there's grass.
      I have also considered trying a new hobbywing esc that has reverse thrust... may be enough to counter the spin and recover ..lol

    New little helper? I now fly 3 different Z-84's, two with motor/prop combos of different capabilities (fast and faster) and my newest one built with a 50mm EDF. Had to carve out some foam to seat it down but was able to use the molded foam it came in within its box to cradle it as a mount. I did apply a tad of downward tilt of the EDF but perhaps not as much as I should have. But it does fly fast, is quieter but uses battery faster. Great little wings!

    • @AndrewNewton
      @AndrewNewton  5 років тому

      Ha, mad EDF!

      I have a 3007-1100kv motor and 3s batteries lying around. Do you think this could fit and fly ok in the z84?

    • @rusack7174
      @rusack7174 4 роки тому

      @@CRChannelurl With the Z-84 you're limited to about a 7" prop. Depending on how you like to fly, from mild to wild, that can limit you on performance with the lower kv motors. If you like to get your heartrate up a bit (doctor's orders) then you'll want something a bit more. To me the ideal setup is say a 2826 -2200kv. That and a 5x5x3 prop does it all. Very fast but back off the throttle to go slow, the wing will do it. That combo can draw over 300 watts of power so it takes an ESC of about 40A capacity to take care of of things. There's no harm in trying the motor you have but it may be too mild, especially with the 7" prop limitation with that motor. Good luck!

    Great video Mr. Newton! What type of glue do you use for EPO foam? I got some bob industries stuff but it takes to long to dry and wanted something that dries quick and is EPO safe.

    Oh wow that motor looks very familiar, does it happen to say G-Force on it? A company here in the states called valuehobby.com sells that exact combo, but it says G-Force on the electronics. Great lil wing build Andrew.

    The Wing Wing Z-84 is a very nice Wing ;-) I purchased it as my very first plane. That was a mistake ;-) It's still flying though and I replaced the stock 5050 prop on mine with a 6040 prop and that really gave it some better thrust ;-) I may have to test it out with a 6030. After watching this I'll have to take it out for a DustOff ;-) Looking forward to the Maiden and I'll see you in the Air!

      @@AndrewNewton LOL ok, try to remove the motor 6 months from now if you lucky the motor will not flight off earlyler, I had in the past long time ago the experience, then Hitec servos start failing due to loctite and expensive airplane when to the ground, loctite eat it over a period of time, I had a motorbicycle and the chain plastic guard was eating complete and falling apart due to loctite damage was terrible. We use in the hangar all the loctite products but no in plastic part at all. Good luck

    I am really not sure why people are still using the TowerPro MG90's in models these days with so many much better options available for about the same money. The MG90's have very poor dead band/resolution and often have poorly machined sloppy/noisy gear trains. They work, but thats it. In my experience about 1 in 5 are what I would personally call usable on a model, but will still have poor resolution. Give some JX PDI-1109's or AGF B11DLS's a try (banggood options) and never use an MG90 again. They are a tad more money, but so what...you have $4 more in your entire build that will make a night and day difference. Most "Tower Pro" servos are even poorer quality counterfeits to boot. Dont even get me started on the blue turd tower pros. Never ever use them in any model, ever.....just dont waste your money on them.

    • @AndrewNewton
      @AndrewNewton  5 років тому

      Mine have all worked as expected. But thanks for the tips for better servos.

    • @ArionRaine
      @ArionRaine 5 років тому

      @@AndrewNewton Sure, they move with your stick when you hook them up as they should, but thats about it. Servos go far beyond simply moving when you move your stick. I have tested the deadband/resolution on many servos, and most TP servos are at the bottom coming in at about 20-30us deadband which translates to 50-60 steps, whereas a good servo will have about a 4-5us deadband with a 200-250 step resolution. Its a HUGE difference, and makes flying smooth, and getting your plane pointed where you want it and keeping it there much easier.
