Thanks! I noticed that as well which is why I made this video. All I wanted to see was someone cutting would with this thing and getting good results. Hopefully this video helps with that. I may make a short video later seeing how it resews 5" of oak since there is some interest there.
Thanks! It gets the job done and keeps the dust out. Of course I would love fancy cabinets and doors... I could make them but there is a lot of stuff on the list before that! I don't have time to make a perfect shop.
are you happy with the saw? I have a Delta 16" bandsaw I bought 30 years ago (I am 75 now) and thinking of getting the Rikon.....does it come with a miter gauge and rip fence?
I appreciate your comment. I use my shop to build things and get things done. Maybe one day if I have time, I will dress it up a little more and replace my cardboard doors!
Great video....nice that you are from Canada also....did you ever try resawing a hardwood piece....I am just about to pull the trigger on ordering this band saw and it would be nice to know ..many thanks
Thanks for the comment. Unfortunately, I never tried a full resaw of a hardwood piece. I have cut smaller pieces of oak with no issue but those were only 1" thick. The wood I cut in the video is pretty hard. It's reclaimed wood from an old barn roof. The wood they used seems a lot better than our 2x4s these days. I moved and don't have the bandsaw setup yet and will probably wait until the spring. I would be tempted to try it if I were you. It's the only saw I found in the price range that has all the features of the higher end sawa that I wanted. Good luck!
Hi Nick. I got the blade from amazon.ca this is the one; Olson Saw FB23370DB 1/2 by 0.025 by 70-1/2-Inch HEFB Band 4 TPI Hook Saw Blade. This is the one I used in the video which I quite like. I also bought a; POWERTEC 13186X 70-1/2-Inchx1/2-Inchx3 TPIx0.025 Band Saw Blade. I haven't used the powertec yet since the Olson works well. Once I wreck the Olson I will switch over and try powertec.
The specs say 5-in resaw capacity but 5 in is my finished width of the parts I expect to make. Could you do me a favor and raise it up and give me the exact measurement of clearance?
It says it can but I am not so sure. I'm just rebuilding my workshop so I can't test a piece of hardwood now but I will try to in the next week or so. Maybe with the resaw blade I will have good luck with the 5" hardwood.
Thanks! They are still running strong! Of course I would prefer wood cabinet style doors. They are on the to-do list along with a new bench. The whole point of my shop is to build stuff for inside the house so I have a lot of projects before I get around to new doors :)
Yes, absolutely. 1/2" is the largest this saw can accept. It says that in the manual as well. I found the 5/16" stock blade really terrible and destroyed it after a few cuts by trying to cut thick reclaimed stock. This new blade is amazing for resawing. Of course a 14" bandsaw or larger is better but that's a different price point.
by any chance do you have the building plans for the cabinet doors?
Bahahahaha
LMAO
Thanks for the video, super helpful. None of these other reviews actually use the saw much less test out the resaw ability.

Thumbs up for the awesome cabinet doors! :-D

I find your shop refreshing. Thanks for the video.

Thanks for the review. Also, great video overall. I hope you continue to make more. Cheers!
Thanks! I will make more in the future. Just moved into a new 'workshop' (garage), so I'll have some video ideas with that.
I love the cardboard doors! Nice video
love the card board doors! good for you!
Thanks ! I still have them a year later. Of course a new bench is on the list to do but it's waaaaay down there.
Great video! Just purchased the same one!!!!!!!

@@billjonesnation thanks so much
I just got this bandsaw… I’m wondering where you got your re-saw blade. Thanks.

What’s the height of lumber you can resaw on your Rikon 10-3061?
Max height is 5" out of the box, not sure if you can add a riser or not.
The specs say 5-in resaw capacity but 5 in is my finished width of the parts I expect to make. Could you do me a favor and raise it up and give me the exact measurement of clearance?
Just measured. It is 5 1/8" from the tabletop to the bottom of the guide bearing.
@@billjonesnation Thanks. Just might be enough to work for my application. I am very grateful for your effort
Dude your realy busting that guys balls
Great video. Can you provide a link for that Olson 1/2" resaw blade?
I got it off Amazon. a.co/d/ha5VyIz
I like the bench doors ... practical :-)
3.5” of softwood; but do you think it can handle the full 5” with a hardwood?
It says it can but I am not so sure. I'm just rebuilding my workshop so I can't test a piece of hardwood now but I will try to in the next week or so. Maybe with the resaw blade I will have good luck with the 5" hardwood.
Haha, I just watched this video again and thought it was familiar. Then came to ask this question… and I find my past self already asked it! 🤯
Sorry I know I was supposed to cut some hard wood but I wasn't able to. Had to move all my equipment and it's not set up yet.
I absolutely love the ingenuity with the cardboard doors haha.
Thanks! They are still running strong! Of course I would prefer wood cabinet style doors. They are on the to-do list along with a new bench. The whole point of my shop is to build stuff for inside the house so I have a lot of projects before I get around to new doors :)
Wait so this saw allows for larger saw changes like the 1/2 inch blade you replaced the 5/16 blade with?
Yes, absolutely. 1/2" is the largest this saw can accept. It says that in the manual as well. I found the 5/16" stock blade really terrible and destroyed it after a few cuts by trying to cut thick reclaimed stock. This new blade is amazing for resawing. Where did you get those hold down clamps at 1:30?
Good question. I designed them in Fusion 360 and printed them on my ender 3 v2
Never, ever wear any kind of gloves near a spinning saw blade!
Curious, what is max re-saw ability?
5"
@@billjonesnation thank you.
Warning: Bman Wild has just entered the chat and you *will be SUSCRIBED*
😂🎉❤
I would not wear gloves when cutting.
