also, I think the JJ vs AK advice is pretty bad, that is never a fold preflop. There is a $6 straddle on, so if you had $400, that is only like 60BB effective. Also, when you raise to $30 and someone just jams for $400, that is basically never a strong hand like AA/KK ever. Those hands raise to like $100 or something. The jam screams of AK/AQ/JJ/TT something like that which people are just afraid to play postflop. I'm all on board for over-folding at marginal spots at low stakes, but overall saying that is a fold preflop given that action is just bad advice in my opinion.
and thinking about that situation as well as a '2% chance on the flop' is the wrong thinking. you always think about when the money went in, which was preflop, where it was almost a coinflip. flop could have come out JJA, runner, runner AA, but money still went in as a coinflip. runout doesn't matter.
    keep up the good work!

Logic makes sense but 1/3 players normally don’t 3b light. Even If I add AQss in that range it’s 58/42 and JJ is behind
JJ is getting crushed 64/36 against QQ+ and AK (2:1 dog)
Pushing all in there and hoping to be up against AK can be prevented altogether since once $30 was risked initially

@@chiyunit1078 my point is they 3b their value (QQ/KK/AA) to like $100, but they basically never jam all in bc they want to get paid. A jam usually signifies a weaker, hand (AK/AQ/JJ/TT). Vs player type they described, this is a snap call.

@@TheNow_Now makes sense I would think this is the least questionable hand compared to the others - he unfortunately lost a slightly above avg flip when stakes were “higher”
The call with the Q10cc hurt especially when dude potted river for $105. I actually guessed villains exact suit because not many 3’s play that way

@@TheNow_Now I dont know about a snap call. It depends on one's play style. Higher variance style its a call, lower variance style its a fold. There are many more combos of AK/AQ than of TT. Personally, I also dont see the point in near 50/50 flips in cash games, so its a fold for me unless one of us is a short stack.

@@theejayzeeable the overall equity edge in no limit hold em in all ins for a winning player is much closer than people realize, usually like 55%/45% all in over thousands of hands. folding spots you are likely flipping is a terrible strategy long term and an easy way to lose EV long term. sure, you can probably beat soft 1/3 and 2/5 games avoiding those spots, but youll end up playing a terrible, nitty style of poker

I do wonder if a long streak of good results kinda makes one complacent as I suspect this happened to me as well... I did run pretty bad for a couple of sessions but made a couple of mistakes thereafter as well.

First hand, you must never limp, I am sure your coach taught you this, bet with 99 $25-30, bigger sizing since you are in SB. On the flop, you are lucky to flop over pair, continue to bet with a possible flush draw out there. Good check raise on turn. On the river, if villain to your left bluff you must make him show first or muck before you show your hand. One more thing, you might be tipping too much. You are aiming for $30 an hour profit, think in term of your HR rate.

Poker is pretty competitive now, with serious players not drinking. Free drinks are tempting, but I think it's better to refrain.

1st QTs hand is definitely not a punt in my opinion. However, I would check back the turn, once you pair the T. Every now and then, you may be ahead of someone that has JT or Ax of clubs there, I don't like jamming bc all Kx is just calling there.
The second QTs hand is just a pure give up on the river. After you bet the turn, the opponents range is heavily condensed towards Ax hands. Front door flush draws are like the worst possible hand to bluff with bc you have the front door draw, and when you bluff, you want your opponent to have some snap folds (and since you have the draw, unlikely they have snap folds).

Great vlog. On the QTc vs KQ hand, your flop raise was too small. A $15 bet into an $80 pot is a see-where-I'm-at bet that you can raise with impunity (Aero might even raise here--but not to $65). A pot-sized raise would be $140. You raised to $65, slightly less than half pot. Further, once your opponent calls for another $50 with less than pot behind, she is probably not folding a King unless it is a real shitty King like K7 suited. Given your opponent's shorter stack, I would just shove the flop. She might fold because she is behind AK, sets, and two pair. You could also call and try to realize your equity (but if the flush or straight comes in, getting paid might be difficult).

    • @MagikarpPoker
      @MagikarpPoker  8 днів тому

Thanks for the feedback - I often don't think about the size of the pot when raising and moreso am thinking 3-4x bet size; however, Aero also advises that I take into consideration pot size when making raises so definitely need to start doing this

Your videos are good at making the audience feel smart. You telegraph what hands are going to go bad, so the whole time we get to "notice your mistakes" before you call them out yourself and we get to feel so quick and clever about it. Good content man
