I constantly think about my Iowa caucus back in February where Biden was not viable. Sanders, Klobuchar and Buttigieg had fairly large crowds but nobody came out with the intent of supporting Biden.

Something I've realized since 2016 is that liberal voters are not slowly becoming the majority; they're just getting louder. Most of the people in their late teens and early twenties that I work with are conservative and I live in a historically blue state. No. Democrats don't want him to be like Bernie. Biden has an appeal to moderates, which is what is needed right now. Hopefully he can adopt some of Bernie's ideas, but most of the country has said no to Bernie. The main question is whether Biden can push for expanded healthcare, campaign finance reform, and take on gerrymandering. These are the things that put the GOP in the pockets of the wealthy interests and wiped out the productivity gains of the middle/lower classes over the past 40 years.

They killed Lincoln (R) for trying to do right thing, then the Democrat Andrew Johnson took over, and pretty much halted and denied the meager 40 acres and a mule "reparations" (WHILE handing out 160 acre tracts and subsidies for others during the homestead act) thus cementing himself as the worse president in US history for Native Black ADOS post emancipation and kinda set the foundation for a continual, aggregate, bowl of fuckery the likes of which can still be seen today in many ways.
If two can meet on intellectual values alone while both having enough empathy and a humble enough ego to understand opposing views, I think they can get past this strange idea that in every decision and policy half of the country loses and the other half wins. If we don't break that somehow in the future we will just see more terribly inefficient productivity which will lead to a government that can't keep up with the pace of technological, social and economic change until corporations render government irrelevant. Just my opinion but it's my hope that intellectualism rises and people learn how to have real conversations. I think Rising is a perfect example of what is possible.

The thing that Biden needs to win, is the people that are inclined to vote for him, to give him money. But the people that give him money want him to be something different than the people that would vote for him want. The result will be that while the majority of people might say Biden in a poll, Trump supporters will climb over each other to get to he polls, Biden not so much.

Presidential elections come down to that 5% of swing voters. Most of the categorized swing voters are not swing voters at all. To the shock of conservatives the left somehow gets 50% of folks to ignore the facts and buy into their bullshit. Problem for the dems is they've backed themselves into a spot that makes receiving the vast majority of specific groups essential for them to win. Trump or any republican can basically shut them down by getting 15% of the black vote alone. That's just one voter group and there's many. Trump has already taken enough of the black vote.
@@K131399 conservatives aren't surprised about all the dead Democrat voters sending their votes in by mail. This is obviously why the Dims are pushing vote by mail so hard now because it's the only way they can defeat trump in November. Voter ID will iron it all out.
You got it. I've said it A MILLION TIMES now. The way to win the Presidency is voter enthusiasm. PERIOD. That usually means the candidate has star power, great ideas, something special. You can't point to a single election since 1980 where the more exciting candidate didn't win. Not one. I don't want to sound like a deflated Bernie supporter, but the person who had that IT factor this cycle was Bernie Sanders. If there was someone else who also had that level of enthusiasm, I would say so, but nobody really did. What's worse, Biden had probably the LEAST amount of enthusiasm behind him and now.... here we are.
When you run a campaign telling people you won't do anything for them don't expect them to get excited for you.
