We won’t even speak of the Rams playoff loss. The one year Brees had “decent” defense they won the superbowl (2009-2010) 😂

Haener led Fresno St to 10+ wins once( might have been twice if not for injuries) same as Carr. He's got moxie and might turn into something.

People seem to forget how good Jake was looking at the start of the year last year, but he got forgotten about after his suspension. He was a higher draft pick than Rattler, and it's his second year with the team so he's got some familiarity with the players and system.

I just don’t like or understand how people wrote off Jake because of 3 preseason games! Its insane to me 😂
Jake actually played well in two of those games and in fact he brought the Saints back in the preseason game in Kansas to defeat KC.

They (Dc) love Peterman because he’s like a QB1 manager. So Rattler or Haener would need to compete with each other for Qb2 by also learning how to be a selfless and able to manage Qb1. This would make Peterman expendable. Some QBs aspire only to be a Qb2. Chase Daniel is an example.

I believe what people are not understanding is that. They think QB2 means that will be the factor on who the franchise QB will be for the future. When as you said that is not really the case.
Now I am rooting for rattler in the long run to become the future franchise QB because of his story and the fact that he has or had first round talent. With Andrew and Kubiak being here it gives them the opportunity to try to maximize that out of him and make him a starter. However though, when they do try to maximize his talents and his genuinely not good and Haener is the better QB for the future I won’t be mad at it because we still get a good starting QB for the future. It’s a win if you’re saints fan and also a win for the organization🤷🏾.
I am rooting for Jake since he is 100% smarter and makes MUCH BETTER DECISIONS. JAKE IS THE FUTURE. RATTLER WILL BE A CAREER BACKUP..

Well, I'm pretty sure Haener right now has the QB2 spot. It's the default the Saints are working with. Rather, the question is: can Rattler win the qb2 spot from Haener?
Because he's the older. That's the only reason. Coaches have zero reason to disturb the standard hacking order which goes by seniority
@@exomake_mehorololo Of course it starts with seniority (year 2 with them vs a rookie). I called it "the default". But Haener has been doing well in the very limited amount we have seen publicly, and the onus is on Rattler to show he should beat out Jake, not the other way around. Rattler would win the role from Haener, not Haener from Rattler.
Our defense is one of the best in the NFL. If Haener and Rattler can do well against them in team drills, then we know they most likely aren't going to be " bad" qbs. If they're dropping dimes against Shon, Alonte and Adebo, they're good.

I like Haener! His willingness to take whatever supplement to get stronger and more diced is what life is all about.
Are either of the young guys ready to step in should Carr go down? If not, and assuming the Saints are still in the playoff hunt when Carr goes down, then they have to sign a veteran off the street, such as Flacco or whoever, in the middle of the season. He has to come in and try to learn the playbook and all that on short notice. If the team isn't confident in either guy, then they have to sign a veteran now to come in, so he can be ready to step in should there be the need. If you're Dennis Allen you're already on the hot seat. Don't get caught with your pants down by not having a capable backup quarterback in the fold who's ready to go.
I get the impression Peterman is there because Carr likes him. They've worked together in the past. I get all that, but if the Saints don't think Peterman can be that guy to save the season, then he needs to be out the door pronto. Bring in a veteran now, let him get acclimated, then cut him before the season if you still want to keep both young guys. Then, at least you have somebody on the back burner who already knows the playbook, etc., that you can call up from the couch in a pinch.

I'll just be peeved if Peterman is the QB2 when the season starts. If Carr gets dinged up and Haener/Rattler needs to finish out a game, then roll with that. The kid-gloves approach gets us nowhere.

Right now we know little to nothing. Both need development. There is no plan to put either on the field this year. If Carr gets injured maybe either gets a chance but we don't know what that would look like.

I’m kinda leaning into Spencer because his potential is through the roof but I also really like Jake as well knowing he grew up a saints fan and was a draft pick of ours. Either or id be very happy if Spencer or Jake took the job from carr because their home grown saints draft picks and not free agents. I’m just ready for a guy we drafted to be the QB1 and not someone from another team
Spencer is overhyped and overrated. What potential?? His RAS was the worse of the entire QB class at 2.5. His 40 time is slower than most 300 Lb lineman at 4.95. He got benched twice in college. What potential?

No one is drafting 5th round QBs and developing them to be starters.
The guys that were taken in later rounds, who get their shot, are guys like Purdy and Cousins, who got their shots because of injuries to the starters.
