have you tried the new WatchOS9 fitness improvements...appreciate WorkOutdoors is great but wondering how it compares against new Apple features..and yes I know it doesn't have a map...intervals are a thing now and have been since they launched the beta...intervals are easy to do (although it would be nicer to tweak option on the phone rather than do it on the watch)
I am using workoutdoors based on your review. but one thing I can't figure out is how to share my workouts. I am sharing them with my son who has the apple watch series 7. can you do a video on how to share workouts? especially with this app?
Please tell me how to customize screen always on. Trail running with this app is killing me waiting for the info to turn up on the screen while jumping between rocks and slippery roots. .5 sec delay is not satisfactory…..
Hi Daniel, i am new to both apple watch and Workoutdoors. Great video 🙂 I agree that Workoutdoors is great and very customizable. However there is something that annoys a lot. So when i am in a workout and i am playing music on Spotify, the second i twist my wrist to see the watch it turns screen to Spotify. For me this is useless Spotify i can control right on my chosen headphones so i want to see the Workoutdoors app. But i have to hit the tiny " x " to close the Spotify screen (this does not stop the music) then i can see the Workoutdoors app on my watch. Do you know if there is a setting to keep Workoutdoors app always on top?
Just started running after many years of not running and I fell in love with it again. I remember bringing my MiniDisk player with me for long runs and now I can just bring a watch with everything on it. Absolutely also love WorkOutDoors the only thing I’m missing is a shoe milage tracker function. I hope that’s something the developer can implement :)
If you upload your runs to strava(just using the free features) you can track shoe mileage. Workoutdoors even has an option to directly upload your runs to strava.
I do all my planning in Polar Flow (web) and then it gets transfered to my watch (Polar Vantage 2). Is there a way yo ucan do this? Also, I have favorite workouts so the are already structured and saved. It would be very interesting to see if this app also does it. Liked and subscribed. Thanks for the video!!
Thanks for the review. Got a question though, can you upload the runs to Nike Run Club, Garmin connect, Map my Run etc? Also does it just do automatic upload on Strava? Thanks
Amazing how Apple added intervals for walk/run on IOS 9, but the watch only does heptic feedback and Siri voice for each interval I can't get it to simply beep. Heptic feedback is fine, but I need an audio option as well that isn't Siri saying 1 minute, 2 minute, 3 minute and so on. Seriously annoying. I am considering an app like this or returning my Ultra and sticking with my Garmin that actually beeps.
Love the maps feature on WorkOutDoors - especially when exploring new places. Apple's latest watch beta OS has added a lot of features recently that has made me switch back for now, like native interval sessions, time trials, and running dynamics like power/stride length/cadence/ground contact time etc. Great video - keep up the good work.
Great video. I just want to remind people that Apple creating an “App Store” was another iconic decision. Apple makes fantastic hardware and their software is no slouch either. However, they understand early on it was impossible for any company’s engineers to create the best software in every possible life domain from art to video editing to music production. “There’s an app for that” meant even if Apple didn’t give it to you natively, they’d created a developer’s kit so experts in every field could bring you the best user experience. It’s strange to hear Apples native apps described as fierce competitors to 3rd party apps. Apple introduced 3rd party apps as part of their ecosystem to add to their native software and hardware experience.
Agreed. However apple is notorious for not giving developers full control. For example, developers cant show screens on always on display. I wish they don’t have such limitations
Great video!Thank you!Gave me a chance to discover this app which is amazing (and im hoping Apple will develop/upgrade their run/fineness app to get closer to this or Garmin…). I used it for the first time today on my new iWatch Ultra…but…heart rate stopped to get updated in the middle of my run for about a good 30 mins!(Like the heart rate field on my screen was just freezed and somehow this got back to life again after a while). Anyone experienced the same thing?(Very annoying!). The other thing I didn’t find yet (maybe need to dig more) is : how to pause the run without accessing to the screen?Any change to assign iwatch Ultra button (like what Garmin does?). This is definitely a good app but today experience makes me think…do I wanna used this for my upcoming marathon?! Thank you!
CUSTOMIZE WHAT IS LIVE?? BRUH THE SCREEN KEEPS TURNING OFF FOR SOMEONE LIKE ME WHO IS PROBABLY JUST USING THEIR PHONE AS A SPEEDOMETER ON THEIR BIKE AND EVERYTHING ELSE ON APPLES FITNESS APP
Agree. The best app for Apple Watch is WorkOutDoors. They recently add Topo maps, they still need to add meters on top of the topological map but is awesome (however, The Apple Watch, sadly, is still absolutely behind Garmin watches in both software: the implementation running and physiology dynamics and, hardware -Battery, construction and being round -as time is a circular variable, it doesn't make sense a square watch... this is a mistake that John Ive committed since the beginning. This is still true as of July 2022).
>no ability to change what the Watch is showing to me when I work out You can change that via iPhone → Watch → Fitness → Select the type of workout (e.g. running) and drag the options around. Won't be that detailed, but it's there! Also, I'm happy to see you posting so regularly! Love your videos.
Does it track GPS and sync to strava too?

Workoutdoors blows the "new" Apple Workout app with power out of the water. No comparison!
I am using workoutdoors based on your review. but one thing I can't figure out is how to share my workouts. I am sharing them with my son who has the apple watch series 7. can you do a video on how to share workouts? especially with this app?
Do I have to use it with an Apple Watch? Can I strap my iPhone onto the handlebars of my bike and just use it with the screen on my iPhone?
Does Workoutdoors have a triathlon set up.
Can intervals custom can be configured in phone, rather than in watch?
How do you get a monthly summary ??
Please tell me how to customize screen always on. Trail running with this app is killing me waiting for the info to turn up on the screen while jumping between rocks and slippery roots. .5 sec delay is not satisfactory…..
i dont think workoutdoors measures VO2 Max right?

What training plan are you using?
How do I cancel the countdown before an autoplay workout?
How does this compare to Apple new workout update just released? In particular with the Ultra.
How come you don't have million subscriber? This video is killer! I really want to hear your story about marathon.
Does the work outdoors app make the apple watch battery die faster or no
Hey, Daniel! I haven't noticed my watch dying any faster while using it. It seemed to drain the same as when doing a default workout.
@@daniellangewisch ok thank bud great video
Maybe it’s an updated version of the workout app, but you definitely can do intervals on the native app.
Can you test Kumoot?

@@amazinganimations7412 I do the exact same
Where in the world are you from where you say “during” like “deeruring”? Hahahaha
Great video. Thanks. I bought the app.
Love this app. I just bought last week and finally I can use my new ultra watch the way it was intended. I can also now retire my Garmin Fenix.
Hi - great video. Is it working with applewatch series 3?
I have not tried it on the Series 3, unfortunately. However, I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work!

You can upload directly to strava. I don’t know about anything else

I have the same problem with intervals. Apple workout is pretty useless for this.

Thanks so much, Gwilym! I really do love this app!
Do you feel the native interval sessions are better than workoutdoors?
Can we get a new update to this video after watchOS10?
Nicely explained.
Thanks so much! Appreciate you checking out the video 😃
The elevation is so wrong in this app vs Strava! 30% error!!

They really need to add training peaks import, then will be the best apple watch app

Glad you enjoy WorkOutDoors! I sure do love it 😃
Well I think Garmin watches needs to be square. Because it provides more area to see maps clearly.
I'm definitely interested in a video of how you import your plan into WorkOutsdoors!
Thanks for checking out the video! I will put that in my future video ideas list 😃
