I live in the US and I am dying over here! When you said you couldn't wait to have an American breakfast, and then i saw you drive up to a DD, I could not stop laughing! I'm so glad you had a good time and I loved watching you share your memories. :) Enjoy the rest of your summer.
Haha I had the best time, thank you so much!
It's so funny to see the foods you find exciting in the US. Literally those are the things I am embarrassed that we even consume here and totally guilty of buying once in awhile for my kids. Which is why I've been watching your channel to see how you eat over there in France. Lol. I'm equally as excited about your healthy meals as you are our worst junk food! Our countries are so different! :D
I live in Chicago and find it so cool that you grew up here!
Chicago food is especially hearty……I think it’s to bulk us up for freezing winters LOL.
So glad you enjoyed you’re time here :).
One thing I do find frustrating, is so many French UA-camrs talk about American diets like we eat all the bad food we make. Which is kind of like saying the French have a diet of butter and croissants. Many of us Americans have healthy diets, and consider junk food as a treat, not consumed all the time. Sure, some of us eat unhealthfully (particularly lower income families, because junk food is the most affordable, sadly), but many of us are health conscious.
I think the biggest difference between French and English eating habits are meal times and eating between meals. I also do think the French make small adjustments by adding more fruits and vegetables. And French food education is excellent (wish we had that here!!) But it’s not like most of us eat McDonalds everyday.
At least, that is my own observation.
You're so lucky!! And yes, I totally agree with you, of course these are generalizations!! But having lived in both countries there's definitely some truth there
I laughed until I cried at the food choices 🤣 it was so neat to get a glimpse of your favourite American guilty pleasure foods. If you shared a post box I can promise we’d keep you constantly stocked in Nerds and pancake mix- but I know that wouldn’t make them as special if you could have them all the time. 😄
Hahaha my dream😂 And so glad you enjoyed!
Hi Lucie!! How did your French parents end up in Chicago??? Maybe your Dad isn’t French and grew up there??You must go to Southern California and see our beautiful beaches sometime!! I love airports too, and flying👍👍what a fun video thx glad u had a blast. Yep grew up on Kraft mac n cheese yum👍and Mrs Butterworths syrup yum
Dad is French but got a job opportunity there! My parents always knew they wanted to live abroad at some point. So glad you liked the video!
I’m in Chicago now born and raised here so want to go to Paris! I hear that Chicago accent in you! I grew up in Palos Heights about half hour east of Naperville!
Love your comments about Chicago and Naperville, I lived there for 30 years plus and my daughter still lives there, you did a great job of capturing the high points of both cities.❤
Oh wow that's so cool! 😍
Lucie, I can so relate I love planes and the excitement of it all including the food you get to experience. This is such a heartfelt video full of childhood nostalgia and fun. Love watching you unravel your memories. love seeing your true colors light up and pulsating over a place you once lived. I lived in many places so I can so relate on going back years later and naturally capturing or journaling how you feel about it in later years. Thanks for sharing your impressions on your trip I would love to hear an after thought on it a couple weeks later.
Thank you so much for your kind comment! So glad you enjoyed
I loved everything about this video! Great job! The nostalgia - every experience you shared was so cute and touching to see you re-live! Our food in the US is so crappy compared to the food in France! I LOVE french food (and I agree, the food quality does tend to be way better in France than in the USA - especially in the mid-west and the south). The west coast (California, Oregon and parts of Washington State)...as well as the northeast (Vermont, New Hampshire and the suburbs of many of the northeastern US), the focus is more on organic and locally grown food (much like France). For example, I live in rural NJ (yes, there really is a rural NJ)....I am surrounded by farms, and our farmers and local growers often have Farmers Markets and they are highly attended (similar to French markets, but ours are pretty much only on the weekends). I WISH we had Farmers Markets every day like in France. Also, I LOVE NJ food! GREAT Italian food, great bagels and Pizza. Our Chinese and Thai are not bad either...but I am with you...the USA Pancakes are the best! Like a big fluffy hug! LOVED your video and videos! Keep them coming si vous plait :)
Loved this kind of vlog like a day in your life something diff which was fun to watch especially because I live in the US...DD is def a must have lol ❤
So glad you enjoyed it! And yesss💜
Cool to hear about you and your sister going to the "American Girl" events. I used to go to those growing up as well. I loved reading the books when I was little. Anyway, I hope you had a pleasant trip.
They were so fun!! I read the books too!
i do love your stories, foods ,, your channel is like some tailored video books for me including selected good music ,, thank you for the inspiration !!❤
I loved watching this. It’s a wonderful feeling to return to a place you used to call home! Also happy/surprised to see you get Auntie Anne’s, I can’t go to a mall and not get it!
It's soooo good haha😋
Glad you enjoy the USA
I spent some of my childhood as an American in Europe so I totally understand you wanting the candy and junk food you loved as a kid. It's Fruitella, Tuc Crackers, and Mars bars for me! Enjoyed this video.
So interesting to hear!!
I live close to Naperville and have family members there. I love going there! Im glad you had fun!
So cool!
It was so fun to see this journey through your childhood. You did an amazing job showing these places. It makes me want to visit them. Seeing it through your eyes made it special. 💖 I have a weakness for Barnes & Noble, too. 😅
Glad you enjoyed!💜
@@Edukalebylucie ❤️ I did - thank you so much, Lucie, for sharing in your signature way.
Great video. The area you lived in is quite pretty. I enjoyed seeing the sites in Chicago. I have never visited the city itself, but always wanted to. Hope to get there someday. The Mac & cheese I can handle and the pancakes. The other things you bought are a bit too sweet for me. You need to try Crispy Cream donuts next time. Thanks for sharing you memories.
Krispy Kreme donuts are my fave but I didn't find any!! Heard they're coming to Paris soon though 😍
@@Edukalebylucie they sure are good, especially fresh.
How cool I live close to Naperville! What a small world 💕
No way!! 😍
What?? You were state side??! 😮😮😮 so happy to hear you enjoyed yourself! ❤ BTW ACT II movie butter popcorn is THE BEST microwave popcorn ever!
It is SO GOOOOD😍
Both France and America have such beauty and interesting places to visit and explore. God has made us such a beautiful world, because He loves us sooooo much❣️🥰💕🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻💕❤️💕❤️💕❤️💕
Love Chicago too😍🤩🥰
😍
As an American it was fun to see what you picked to bring home ;-).
Hehe glad you enjoyed!
I am so happy you had the best time. I have spent a lot of time dance training in Rockford, Ill. Even Closer to Chicago. My Aunt and Uncle lived in Chicago until they died. I used to visit them. What a small world. I do love pancakes, Mrs Butterworth's Syrup and Kraft Macaroni and Cheese. I eat these once in awhile, but I do love them. When do you plan on coming back? Have you ever visited Madison, Wisconsin? It's 3 hours from Chicago.😊💝
Wow that's so cool! Hopefully I come back soon!😍
@@Edukalebylucie I would love that.😊❤️
Great vid! I watch and learn from your vids. Trying to have a normal ( what’s that?) relationship with food and I’m 69!! I liked the jelly beans best !
I found this so interesting, I’m a new subscriber, have you made a video if the area you now live in France?
I have! Here's one: ua-cam.com/video/WcnkYszG69I/v-deo.html
Yes, I agree with someone's comment on chewy cookies...brown sugar makes them chewy. Do you have molasses in France? You can add it to white sugar and make your own brown sugar if you can't get brown sugar in France. Hope that works :). I like your videos.
I need to try that thanks!
Ugh, I love Lake Michigan, but as a Michigander, I'm biased lol
Next time buy American brown sugar! That’s the key that many countries I’ve visited didn’t have which makes cookies chewy here ☺️ so much better homemade
Oooh thanks for the tip!
Found your channel from the “French paradox”. So glad I did. Much love for your videos
Je t’aime 🫶🏼 /p
YAYYY!!!
Lucieeeeeeee I’m reading a little life too!! 😅
I'm too nervous to start it 😂
Oh no, you were in Chicago? I'm from Madison, Wisconsin. I would have loved to meet you.😪❤️
Ooh we were pretty close!!💜
PS Can you do a video on horrible ingredients that are illegal in France but legal or in just about everything in the USA? Especially your thoughts on High Fructose Syrup. I seriously think that's a big part of why American's have well, BIG parts, that and our portion sizes are massive. Together along with our high stress (high cortisol) lifestyle it's no wonder we're one of the fattest nations. I'll have to post a video of every day kids in say the 70s/80s compared to everyday kids in the 2010s/2020s. Something is up there, but would like your nutritionists take on food additives like HFC and any others along that line (especially comparing what's common and legal in the USA vs what's illegal (banned) or legislated in France). Very curious to hear a professional former US resident (and lover of so much of what most American kids grow up on). Thank you.
Can totally sympathise
Spent 12 yrs in the US; will always be my second home
And what I miss the most are Pop Tarts 🙈
OOh yeah pop tarts were pretty great haha
Okay, this was a little shocking to watch! But in the best way. Practicing what you preach 😊
Haha of course!
I live in the US and I don’t eat any of those things. Definitely not my pallet😂
Haha to each their own 😂
Not shocked at all, but you should have gotten the chips ahoy chewy cookies😊
I didn't find them😢
Do you think you might gain weight if you were to relocate back to the US?
I don't think so, I think I might get excited by all the new options at first but would likely revert to my old ways of eating quickly lol
What I learned is that America has a lot of junk food 😬
We don’t eat that stuff anymore ….
