I just got the Ghost Max today. I got mine in US 11 and 2E and it is perfect. I have to test it out but it feels great. The other shoe I use is the Kaymano 30 in US 11 and normal D width. I love that shoe also but I got the Max in Black and the Kaymano in Blue. I use these mainly for comfort walking but I am starting to do some slow running....slow...I am 66 years old and so far the running has been Ok on my body but I have gone for the most cushioned shoes, within reason, that I can find and I appreciate some support which both these shoes give even though I am a neutral runner with good feet.
Brooks Ghost Max is my favorite all-around comfortable shoe. It does everything right. 🤞Fingers are crossed that they don’t make it stiffer or firmer when they add DNA loft v3 to the Ghost Max 2. Is there any intel on how it felt in hand from the show this year? Great video as always! Thank you!
The demo pair we got to try out felt the same regarding the cushioning. However, the rocker felt slightly more aggressive on the 2 than the original. We only tried the sample version so the final product will vary slightly.
Just ordered the Ghost Max at around 50% off from what is hopefully an authorized online seller. I'm primarily looking for good comfort and some stability while walking.
Had the Glycerin 20, fabulous shoe, comfortable great longevity, Have the Ghost Max now, shoe feels clunky like oversize clown shoes and terrible outsole wear ability. Should've stuck with the Glycerin model. Tried to save a few bucks, live n learn.
The Glycerin is definitely a little more streamlined than the Ghost Max. What Brooks was trying to do when making the Ghost Max was replicate the Hoka Bondi 8. They did a good job at making their version of a Hoka. It has the same lower heel drop at 6 mm, a thicker midsole that provides more cushion, and a similar rocker geometry in the midsole. The only issue is that people who are used to the standard feel of a Brooks shoe won't like it as much.
I gave the Ghost Max a try this year & it wasn’t bad, but all in all, I am not really a fan of the “rocker style” shoe. Out of the Ghost & Glycerin 21, which is your “regular style” running shoe? I have suffered from Achilles Tendon pain & some arch pain in the past. I am looking for something that is wide, comfortable for 5 mile walks & runs, but can also do some slight sprinting. Glycerin 21 or regular Ghost? Supinator runner as well.
I've seen some reviews and vendors say that the Ghost Max has a 38/32 configuration. And there are those, like your review that say 28/22. I don't get it. Even including the insole wouldn't account for a 10mm difference.
I can see what I can do with our video guy. The hardest part is that there are a million Glycerin colorways, and we don't have every single option physically in hand at our store.
For a male nurse on his feet during 14 hour shifts on hard surfaces I'm trying to decide between the Ghost Max and the Glycerin GTS 21. What would be your suggestion
So I have wide feet so I generally wear 13 4E in Asics or New Balance. I’m interested in the Max and the 16. I just wish I had more color options. I wear ASICS Gel Venture 8s currently with a high drop so I don’t think drop matters to me but on Brooks site it recommends a 14 2E because of my 13 4E NB shoes. These are definitely true to size e right? I wish a 14 2E would work because I would have more color options.
In terms of width, Brooks fits very similar to New Balance. Lengthwise, New Balance fits the slightest pinch longer. A 13 in a New Balance would be the same as a 13 1/4 in a Brooks. It's not quite a half-size longer, but it is noticeable. Going to a 14 2E for Brooks will work for your width, but you also have to account for extra length.
Great vid! I know it’s a very different context, but which of these do you see as best suited to 14 hr hospital shifts? Also, when you say the GTS is just a more stable version, what does that mean? Sorry for the nativity, I’m not from the running world, but thanks for your advice!
The Ghost Max would be the best for on-your-feet all-day comfort. It has the highest stack height at 39 mm/33 mm. The taller stack height gives it the most cushioning of the bunch. The GTS in Brooks' shoes stands for Go-To-Support. The GTS variant will have a higher arch profile and the GTS Guiderails that provide extra stability to prevent overpronation and supination.
Brooks needs to give the Adrenaline a max version of the shoe much like they did for the Ghost. One of the biggest complaints about the Adrenaline is that it's stagnated for years.
Enjoy your vids!! Wish I was closer (watching from ON, Canada). Have you had a compliants about the Ghost Max outsole peeling? I had to send two back but really enjoyed the ride.
It's nice to hear you like the ride. We haven't had any issues with the outsole peeling. However, there are lots of factors that will cause it to differ.
ive seen alot of reviews showing the MAX wont last long and after 100 miles very noticeable wear on the trend?. Im return my max and going back to the ghost 16 after 2 20 mile runs the show doesnt look like it will hold up as long as the ghost 16. I have some pics of both side by side the tread on the ghost 16 seems to be 3 to 4 times thicker than the max? any thoughts? I dont want to have to buy new shoes every 3 months or less because the shoe wont last?
I bought my Ghost Max in March & as I look at the bottoms of both, the tread is pretty much not there anymore. I run 3 to 4 miles, four days a week & have also walked 4-5 miles in them on other days. I didn’t know others had similar experiences about the tread.
I have to stick with either a 12mm or 10mm drop, unfortunately. The Brooks Ghost 15 allowed to me to run more without heel pain. I like that they have wide too. Any other higher heel drop suggestions?
A lot of our brands have been lowering the heel drop of their popular models in the mid-drop range around the 8 mm mark. That being said, we would recommend checking out the Mizuno Wave Rider 28. It is still at the 12 mm in the heel drop and it has a nice and responsive feeling midsole while still being in the plush category of shoes. It is Mizuno's flagship running shoe and is their version of the Brooks Ghost.
The 1080v13 is more similar to the Ghost Max than the Glycerin. It has the lower 6mm heel drop that the Ghost Max has, along with a 38 mm/32 mm stack height compared to the Ghost Max's 39 mm/33 mm. The Glycerin has a 10mm heel drop with a 28 mm/18 mm offset. The FreshFoam X midsole cushioning is softer than the Brooks DNA Loft v2 in the Ghost Max and the DNA Loft v3 in the Glycerin 21.
I have both in wide. I walk a very hilly, paved park close to 4 miles. The NB 1080 v12 and more v4 both make my feet fall asleep about 2 miles in to my walk. It’s so painful. I’ve done all the tricks and inserts. No go. The ghost max doesn’t give me issues and is really nice. It’s not snappy nor like walking in sand; just a great basic shoe.
The 1080 v13 was way too soft, kind of like spongy for me….it hurts my ankle and heel 😅 the ghost 15 and glycerin 20 I currently use is much more comfortable and stable imho.
Why is arch height no longer discussed? I have measured myself having medium arches with a tendency to overpronate. I've found models in the past to really improve my all day comfort by simply having been design for someone with medium height arches. Now I cannot find much to discuss which arch height each shoe model is designed for...
Just got the ghost max and I have never worn running shoes that felt this good straight from the box.
Glad to hear you love your Ghost Max! There is a reason we picked it as our shoe of the year.

I love my Max
Big fan of ghost max
Super comfortable
Nice stable feel and great toe box
Prefer it over ghost 15
Glad to hear you love your Ghost Max! It was our pick as Shoe of the Year for 2023.
The ghost max 2 are very very comfortable, could have walked out of the store with them without question....

Brooks Glycerine 21looks nice and Comfy. 🤩👍
The Brooks Glycerin 21 feels nice and comfy too!
Stay with the Glycerin line, Max is trash@@RunMoore
What is the Ghost Max good for? What does the lower toe drop mean? Is the Ghost Max better for run and walk? Or is it the Glycerin 21?

It was wrong in the first video too. I just forgot to change my notes. The stack should be 39mm/33 mm.
Esta bonito el color del glycerin me gustaría un video donde mostrará todos los colores q tiene

Any alternatives to ghost max in toe roominess? The tempus I bought doesn’t compare.

What does it mean to give it max treatment
What shoe out of these
Do you recommend for long shifts for medical workers?
U have a Gh.mx.1 vs Gh. Mx 2 vid?
Does stack height and heel drop matter for someone with lower back pain? If so which is better for someone with lower back pain?(as a walking shoe)

How does the ghost max and glycerin compare to new balance 1080v 13?
The 1080v to me seems to rock me back and kills my calf’s. The Glycerin seems to propel me forward more if that makes any sense.

dayad 11 had much better insoles than ghost max but you can replace the insoles
WHO the hell wants a 12 mm drop? Ballerinas???
