I love how you can show excitement even on budgets. You never forget where you came from.
My 1st purchase was a Gerber on sale for $12.

Nice! My first way back when was the Ganzo Firebird F753M1, and I still have it. Beautiful knife got it on Amazon for like $19.95, but looks like there all gone now. Mine has the blue screws and thumb studs, with the black handle.
I also have that Ganzo FB21 the first one in the video, same color (green) and all. Superb flipping action.

@@geico1975 my first knife was a DamascusVG-10steel flipper with a tanto blade from aubey! Was around 35€ maybe 40€ not sure.
Joe X did a torture test with this liner-lock and it delivered!

I had to double check when you said best knife under $30. The ruike p801 is now just over $30. That knife is incredible, even at it's current $34.

@@lars2894 nice! It's a really good one. I will say, I could never really get the thumb studs to work anyway and used it as a flipper. I no longer have the p-801. I gave it to my brother after I found out he didn't own a pocket knife. I used (and sharpened) it a lot. I cook for a living, so I'm always free hand sharpening a lot of knives. I will say as well, I have a civivi praxis in 9cr18mov and it's absolutely fantastic. And I beat the bejesus out of it. Civivi does a really great job with it. But I do love some good swedish 14c28n as well. The overall package of the p-801 is so good. Good luck with it!

I still think the Penguin is the best bang for buck in almost any category. Seranmu/LAND have some gnarly working knives under $30 still. SRM has a massive 3.8” D2 folder that goes for $20 on BHQ I think it was, that or Grindworx. And I saw it within the last week.

Love the Elementum button lock. Add on milled titanium clip really makes it so much nicer. Could argue it should come with that clip... The fact it *locks closed* makes this knife safer than most button locks to just drop in a jacket pocket, without using the clip at all!

Great selection of budget knives overall. One's that I would mention would be the Kubey KU322 (best Kubey in my opinion), Civivi Brazen (14C28N one), QSP Parrot or Penguin, CJRB Feldspar, Ruike P801 and Ruike Fang p105 (all of Ruike knives in 14C28N are cryo treated as well). So many great budget knives out there, it's such a wonderful time to be into knives, the selection we have today is just amazing in the budget realm. Thanks for the great vid Jerad and keep making sharp things fun and enjoyable

The Elementum button-lock is in my top five best hives I’ve ever owned. It looks so simple and boring in photos.. but in hand it’s perfection. There is machining on the button that is so detailed you need to hold under light to see it. Then they stone washe each button to give MORE texture. The frame is coated entirely in a durable ceracoat type paint and the blade comes ground crazy thin and perfectly. I mean all that-$65.
      It’s a beast.

The sencut actium is a very good knife and that new kizer domin with the hollow grind holy crap when I first got it I think I carried it everyday the action is so good I got the satin and green micarta version I switched all the hardware I could black (screws, pivot, thumb studs, clip) looks sick the only thing I couldn't change black was the clip screws it's a bummer but what can you do great video man sorry for the long comment 👍

Have you tried the Beyond EDC NIGHT HORSE yet, either the $30 budget version with 13c28n and G10 liner lock or the premium version $150 with S35vn and titanium frame lock, action on both are second to none, yes a bigger blade but with the materials in either version you can't beat them at their price points, and the handle just melts in your hand with ZERO hot spots. I have the budget version and use it quite often to open boxes, cut cardboard, the tip isn't a hard use tip as it's thin and needle like point but if you need something to peirce those hard plastic packages you can't go wrong, very slicey with 2/3 flat grind blade, the action is more HYDROLIC LIKE, VERY VERY smooth and VERY ADDICTING for fidgeting with, once you start playing with it, it's hard to stop, you won't regret it. Keep up with the awesome content, watch your videos pretty regularly.

Bro, I have the Ganzo FH11 and the action on that thing is ridiculous. Ganzo has some duds but they also have some real winners.

@@NeevesKnives the knife is amazing, really like the smooth action for opening and closing, it's a guillotine out of the box, in the future I will try to sharpen it even more with one of your tutorials

As always thanks for the video Jered! I’m new to folding knives. Looking for suggestions from you or anyone in the community: Looking for a great edc folding knife for normal everyday tasks, over 3” blade with solid action, with both thumb hole and back flipper. Budget $300. Any ideas?

Only got 2 knives, QSP Phoenix with D2 steel which I use for work (warehouse) and (I feel bad to say this) a Demko 20.5 knock off, but it feels very good in the hand and is mostly my fidget knife, I use it for work but the steel feels too soft for daily use.
This brings me to one question, what do you recommend as a grinding angle for the QSP? It retains its edge pretty good, but i feel it can do way better (i keep at factory at 20 atm).
