I got sober from drugs and alcohol 6 months ago. The next challenge for me is to quit smoking cigarettes. These coach's corners are so valuable. Chris' thoughts on the importance of exercise regards to being in our bodies is beautiful and it's pushing me towards healthier habits. Thank you Rich and Chris.

My Sister always said everything I do is for me. I told her how can I do anything for other people if I am not 100%. Putting yourself first is not selfish.

Solitude an hour a day and self care time
Close your eyes and smile at the favorite sports
You will have the answer after you run !!!!!!
Self reflection and allow personal interests
Listen to your body and turn your switch off for a while, recharge and really have authentic fun and not worry about outcome
    Love this conversation tremendously

Thanks so much for this conversation Rich and Chris. I'm a marathoner and have been thinking a lot recently about how I "just feel like myself" when I'm running, what that means in my life, and the best ways to keep pursuing that feeling. You had such great insight that speaks to that, which I really appreciate. I feel like I'm slowly starting to parse out where that connection between self and running comes from and your thoughts really helped add to my understanding of that.

great! thank you guys. its always inspiring to listen especially to you two guys. by the way I did my first 10k today. actually 11.27km. on a very slow pace. 1hour22minutes. but that was perfect to achive my 10k goal. a long time I was stuck at 6km but you and other sources of inspiriation brought me to this point. and its so true what you say about consistency and so on. my strategy now is being consistent, listening to my body and how I feel and making only babysteps. like you say a little bit every day. its the best recipe to achive your goals.
thank you guys. keep up the great work. peace

    Don’t look for perfection
    Look for steady progress
Even if as a professional, if you miss a day, you still do well if you just do well 4 or 5 days a week!!! Life gets in the way, adjust, adapt and relax in those frustrating moments

Nice timing. I look forward to the next coaches corner. I'd be interested in a coaches corner chat that touches on training in extreme climates. I currently live in the subtropics and I do all my training indoors in air conditioning because the swamp air and temps are so unpleasantly draining. I've been curious about how you run so much in the Californian heat but perhaps it is just me that struggles with heat so much.
