Buy a high mileage Nissan R35 GTR?

  • For potential GTR buyers out there. One of the big questions is how many miles should I consider for a used GTR? Well, of course the lowest is the best, but that can get expensive. It's might be very tempting to buy a high mileage GTR, but once you consider the maintenance items that may not have been completed and time involved, it may be more worthwhile to purchase a lower mileage one instead. I'll break down most of the major maintenance items in this video and give you price estimates so that you can make a better decision on your GTR purchase. Let me know if you have any questions in the comments section below.

    I agree and disagree about high millage GTR I would rather buy a GTR with 50k miles that was never modified then a 25k miles GTR that was raced and heavy modded and turned back to stock. I found bone stock GTR 09 one owner for 50k with 50k miles, in prestine condition. Always maitained and cared, its not my daily car. I put 15k down. You can imagine how much are my monthly payments :) yes i know 09 has weak trans, well.... Right away i did stage 2 that was done by shep. It Can handle up to 800hp. I don't track the car neither but I'm adding mjdpipe and intercooler piping and cobb. No e85, just to have a bit more kick the car is plenty fast enough. :). I did new pads and rotors too. I did ceramic coat. Btw the video was very nice, watched every GTR video of yours. It's right on point and short which i love. Cheers!

    This makes me want a GTR even more I’m not saying maintenance is cheap but it’s not as expensive as I thought because I would like one for weekend trips no daily driver

    just buy a beat to shit 09 and build engine and trans for $25k then buy 2017 front bumper, hood, and headlights and then you basically got a built 2017 gtr that can reliably make 700whp or if you get turbo kit ,1000whp. You'll also have a 1 year drivetrain warranty

    What year you recommend buy? Just for daily driving and some time run in the drag tack. For fun. 2009? 2013? 2017?

    How often do cba gtr trans fail? Also how can you tell if the car has LC2 or LC1

    • @GTContent
      @GTContent  3 роки тому +1

      There's no data on cba gtr transmission failures. Only 2009 had the violent launch control which didn't appear for 2010 and 2011. The launch control wasn't perfected until 2012-2013.

    I got 3K miles on my 2009 GTR. Oil change was done recently. What other fluids do you recommend changing?

    • @GTContent
      @GTContent  Рік тому

      Transmission and front/rear differential.

    Currently looking at an 09 plate had the bell housing done and looks like it’s been taken care of but is it worth saving up 10k more and going for a GTR 12 plate with 20k less miles and is tuned to 700bhp ?
    The use would be weekend driving definitely not a daily just something nice to enjoy on a weekend

    • @GTContent

      For myself, the additional $10k is worth it.
      The additional mods will be up to you. I try to avoid modded cars because they might have issues, hence the owner wants to sell.
      Go for it if it's a good example of a modded car.

      @@GTContent appreciate the fast response and yeah seems decent the seller says they have all the paperwork to prove the care this car needs and deserves has been given it’s also being sold by a tuning company guess I better get saving for that extra 10k 😬

    Hey dude.. Can you talk about transmission failures. I understand the 2009 failures, but for other failures, do you attribute them to poor maintenance (i.e differntial/transmission fluids not being changed often enough), mileage, too much horsepower and torque, or abusing the car (i.e, constantly using launch control). I'm wondering because i'm the owner of a stock 2012 GT-R with over 120K miles.. and never had any transmission issues. I'm "finally" considering modding (fairly conservative), just maybe a mid-pipe, airbox, and perhaps a new fuel pump and injectors, but don't want to grenade the transmission. Thanks so much for your content.. great stuff!!

    • @GTContent
      @GTContent  Рік тому +1

      The transmsission is reliable. It just doesn't survive when abused (like trying to do a burnout, launching obsessively with no cool down, doing donuts....basically purposely trying to abuse the transmission.) The clutches will most likely slip first before the transmission goes (unless your abusing it like above)

    I know this video is a little old but a guy in my town is asking $49k for 2009 with 100k miles on it. Is that way over priced? The guy dailies the car and he has not had any issues with it (so he says). What do you think? Too risky?
