2:12 I don’t think ski is missing the ability to make memorable or cohesive albums, he just hasn’t dropped enough music in general to seriously put himself in conversations. And I understand the reasons why, he’s one of my favorites out rn but that’s what it is.

well, hes got an album coming out this very month, so well have to see if he can keep up after 5+ years of absence
His personality played a big part in his music, which is now authentically gone and people feel that it's missing
He doesn't have X to bounce off in the studios to either put him in an enjoyable space to make music or artistically push him
Unfortunately, Ski is forever gonna be like this. He was a duo with X way too young in his career so it's legit a part of his identity as an artist. If they became a duo after some time they established themselves as solo artists then Ski would recover well and be fine, but that didn't happen
Ski is just going to remain an underground artist with decent quality unless he gets co-signed/platformed by a huge artist consistently (Like what Timbaland did to Timberlake or Dre to Eminem)

Kendrick's first verse on Cartoons and cereal is a top 3 verse in his catalog. His flow and rhyme scheme mixed with his background vocals makes it absolutely perfect.

As a huge yeat fan. I love all his albums, but 2093 is his best piece of work, it’s forward thinking and is gonna change music foreve. even when you listen to the subject matter of what he’s talking about, it’s nothing like anybody else right now. No one is even close

That Drake take is super valid, yeah those later albums have their great moments but as a full experience they mostly feel like filler and background ambience and to me a 6/10 is an album that's at least half good, a barrier that none of Drake's albums post 2016 meet
“Some Rap Songs” by Earl sweatshirt is one of THEE best rap albums ever.
Has to be one of the best in the past decade at least.
Think about the originality in such a saturated time period it released, think about the abstract and artistic sound scape stylistic approach on production- representing the trenches of earls mind and soul. Think about the message and structure defined throughout the project. The bars and rhyme scheme and patterns.
It’s aging like fine wine.
Because it is fine wine of the rap industry.
It’s an acquired taste. It’s sharp and bold and flavorful. It’s the equivalent to the saying “beauty is in the eye of the beholder”

He was generous. I would say since IYRTITL, not more life. He’s still yet to put something out higher than a 5/10 after 2015. Scorpion was an absolute dumpster fire of an album and Dark Lane was mediocre at best.

A tribe called quest is the best rap group ever if you don't consider the solo work by the members of wu tang
MF DOOM's discography (including Metal Fingers and other personas) washes out the entire discographies of Travis Scott, Migos, Kanye West, J. Cole, Kendrick Lamar, Drake, Pusha T, & Nicki Minaj. (I love all of these artists, but DOOM got them all beat lyrically & album conceptually.)

Huge Travis Scott fan and 2093 was my introduction to Yeat. Nothing Travis has sounds like 2093. The albums definitely bloated but the good songs are so good. I'm also definitely not listening to him for lyric quality but I think you're doing yourself a disservice having genius up on first listen. Shit sounds exactly like the album cover imo

Well when he first started out he was alright. The problem is he NEVER changes up how he raps. Same flow every single time. And I’m not even gonna lie at first when he hit the scene, it was a good sounding flow. It sounded like he was confident and rapped effortlessly. But after the same thing over and over again it just became tiring.

2093 hate is insane
I’m not saying Drake has dropped a classic since Views or More Life but it’s just no way ppl listen to the projects since then and say those are bad albums. Scorpion, DLDT, and Her Loss are all quality projects in my opinion & rating them under a 6 is insane to me personally. I could also say Kanye hasn’t dropped a classic since The Life of Pablo & Kendrick’s recent album won’t be one either but ppl would act like I’m saying something outlandish.

Kinda hot take, Kendrick is the best rapper of all time. Compare him to Nas, who is widely regarded as the best. Nas does have more albums, but Kendricks discography is slightly better. Kendrick has a lot of perfect features. Kendrick hasn't had a bad song since 2011. SAMIDOT is arguably the best rap song, as well as him having FEAR, Mother I Sober and Duckworth.
