FYEO is regarded as one of the best concept albums that hip hop has ever seen?!? I’ve never heard that until now
nah frl lol
Fr bro😭 they doing this all the time with Cole, also views being considered as classic is mad garbage take
Nobody has ever said that shit before LOL
That shit is TRASH, they choke on Cole and Drake’s meat all the time
@@thedon0516same here bro I never heard ANYONE say this. I like the album too, probably my favorite from Cole, but I never heard somebody saying this. Most people call the album boring
The last classic to come out is definetly the forever story...
Agreed 🙌
That was a classic
Ive tried SO HARD to enjoy that album like everyone else but its SOO overrated IMO, Its still a great album, But there are plenty of tracks in the second half that are kinda stale & basic. I think SIMBI deserves the status that TFS has tbh, Rapping is on par, But it nails its concept better and production is much more lush and epic, I think SIMBI, LP! & Manger On McNichols are the best albums to come out in the 20's decade thus far tbh
@@butterschunkmcdonalds5333 agree with you on SIMBI. Incredible work by Little simz. TFS is flawless in my opinon, no skips at all.
last RAP music Classic. I would also say God Dont make mistakes is also in contender for the better album and Classic.
it’s a good day when nfr uploads
FOR REAL
another hot take: a classic album doesn't need to reach the masses upon it release to make an impact. As long as the hip hop community is aware and see the vision, it made its impact. Take Madvillainy for example, it didn't reach the masses but the community took in in high regard, and overtime future hip hop fans got caught up, and we're taking in high regard as well.
I agree with this completely, but madvillainy needed time to become discovered and gain momentum enough to be considered a classic. If you were listening to madvillainy right when it dropped and you called it classic, you would be wrong. even though you had good foresight that it eventually would become one lol
ant looking as fine as usual
These's no way were actually claiming FYEO was as impactful as Monster. Monster defined a whole trap era to come and is definitely worth considering a classic.
Also melt my eyes - its a good album but its weaker than Denzel's previous two. Especially in terms of production
I low key liked that Dark Chocolate analogy 🍫 Ant trippen. 😤
MMESYF is a classic imo. I don’t think an album really needs super complex lyrics to hit that mark, there’s beauty and quality in some of the straight forward nature of it imo, but how he tells these stories is beautiful. Also troubles is an incredible song.
Amazing album, but too soon to tell if it could be considered classic
@@1MinuteVibe I disagree, I don’t really like putting a time restriction on these things. If the album is that good then that’s just it imo
@@nbabackcourtmedia I get that, but there's a reason why it's called classic, if not, any great project would be a classic even if it came out yesterday
I feel like it will age as a cult classic. It might never be at the forefront of hip hop classics, but the people who know about it will swear by it for good reason
@@1MinuteVibe I mean I like to give it at least a year most of the time, but nothing crazy. Just generally not a fan of the time restriction preventing someone from saying an album is a classic
i never wanna hear the word classic again

these fools throwing around the word classic just like that

Y’all giving NF the light of day is nice to see. His music impacts a lot of people including myself
Bro Section 80. classic too from the impact it had with rappers like JID and almost to none skips
I mean honestly Morale might be regarded as classic eventually and I think I probably enjoy it more than damn.
No skips. On an album that has Tammy’s Song, No Make Up and Chapter 6/10. Come on.
NFR X Yuno Miles would be insane 😂😂

1:26 Section. 80 is a classic too

Saying tie my hands is a bad song on the Carter 3 is crazy 😂
Love u NFR podcast ur the goat these vids make my day
Astroworld is the last classic album because Igor came out in May of 2019 so technically it does not pass the 5 year rule. But in one month it will be. And in December PEMFBAS will become a classic as well. (I follow the five year rule religiously)
They got me on that Yuno Miles take. I actually went to look for his music, excited by the thought of discovering something fresh and fire. OMG was i in for a surprise 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
The biggest hot take of the video was them saying Melt My Eyes and Sometimes I Might Be An Introvert wont be classics
Yeah imagine thinking anything J Cole has ever done is better than sometimes I might be introvert or melt my eyes
13:50 did Ant refer to What a Time to Be Alive as a classic, after not mentioning it for either Future or Drake in the earlier discussion? (00:40)
I feel like this is an example of the term being thrown around too easily!
9:24
Troublez cold blooded soul version is awesome. I think that is what the song was supposed to be. I do like the og version too though.
You two should listen to Nate off of the search. One of the best song concepts I’ve ever heard and NF does such a great job making the listener feel like his younger self. I’d definitely call Nate a perfect song and honestly one of the best songs I’ve ever heard
underground classics like a piece of strange by cunninlynguists, the cold vein by cannibal ox, stress: the extinction agenda by organized konfusion, below the heavens by blu and exile, and more are miles beyond albums like get rich or die trying, tha carter iii, the eminem show, etc.
I feel like that's almost a given; to have a massive album on that mainstream level you pretty much have to compromise SOME of your artistic vision, whereas, if you're more underground there are less of those pressures. The advantage mainstream artists have is that they will be able to make a bigger impact, making it feel more classic as it's almost a defining moment that everyone can remember
for sure but i definitely respect those art first smaller artist more than the drakes and lil babys yk?
piece of strange and below the heavens holy W
Sure get rich or die trying but the Carter iii is pretty good. And Kendrick and Kanye have proven truly brilliant hip hop can be done with enormous mass appeal in the modern era (rip to kanye making good music though)
I love when they completely agree on a take and still find ways to argue 😭
3:39 the double entendre goes hard 🔥🔥
Self titled is a classic and 56 nights and purple reign are teetering on classics in my opinion. The latter two are so influential to sounds in ways you might not pick up on in a revisionist sense but at the time it opened new avenues for a multitude of up and coming rappers, they all have unique sonic pallettes
9:33 yall bugging troubles is fire
You guys are so lenient with “Classics”
I think it's become really popular to call Get Rich Or Die Tryin' overrated because Fantano calls it overrated alot.
It has ALWAYS been overrated Fantano just so happens to be right about this. (Unlike his acid rap take)
Future has 3 classics: ds2, monster, 56 nights easily. U guys are tripping, Monster is 100x more influential than 4YEO ever was it is not about the better album.
Future has one classic and it’s DS2, because a classic is something that is agreed upon by the majority of people, and everyone picks a different album other than DS2.
DS2. Monster . 56 Nights, Hndrxx. All no brainers
Tbh I’d argue all 3 tapes from his run in 15 you can call classics
Tie my hands off the Carter III to me is a beautiful song it’s sad that so many don’t like Wayne on those slower softer cuts
4 Your Eyez Only has the song everyone calls Cole sleepy for, Folding Clothes (which I like btw)
Folding Clothes is amazing and anyone who tells you otherwise is cringe
2:55 lost it at that moment 😂❓
Monster deserves the classic status way more than 4YourEyezOnly
Exactly. I don’t know how this was even an argument. Monster dropped when Future was still on his come up and that tape basically cemented where Future would go from there. It’s easily one of the most important projects for the emerging late-trap sound that would become the most prominent sound in hip hop for the next like half a decade at least if not further.
4YEO came after Cole had already released FHD, and that was widely considered as “his classic”, not to mention 4YEO has “Folding Clothes” on it which consistently gets dunked on for being boring. Until this video, I’ve never heard anyone say that 4YEO is a classic.
Tl;dr: Monster - yes, 4YEO - no
It just depends on who your a fan of tbh
Neither deserve it, classic needs to be a very exclusive term
So Far Gone was also a Drake classic.
They don’t want to give The Boy his credit cause they huge kdot Stans and this channel full of them but Drake has atleast 5 minimum and I’m being nice.

Relapse deserves to be a classic
I don’t understand how it’s not. It takes the zaniness of previous Eminem albums that leaned hard into the whole Slim Shady persona and cranked it up to 100 then ripped off the knob. In terms of the wackiness + depravity of Slim Shady, it’s the quintessential Eminem album.

Hi nfr im the 2001 take guy and I would like to explain why I wrote that comment. I recently decided to listen to 2001 all the way throughout a few weeks ago (im only 15 and new to hiphop so i've never listened to it) and my expectactions were high as hell, not only cause people talk so well about it but also because I absolutely LOVE some of its biggest hits like still dre and forgot about dre(those are like my favourite songs ever lmao) and I dont know why but that was prolly THE most disappointing listen ive had since I started listening to hiphop, and thats because my expectations were so high I was expecting every track to be a forgot about dre or a xxplosive, but I ended up not getting CLOSE to like it as much as I wanted to.I just got frustrated by how i wouldnt find a song id love as much as a still dre, so every other song i came across on the album felt like a skip to me(hope that makes sense lol).Ima have to listen to it again whit a open mind to be able to understand the hipe.
this makes sense but just know this kinda stuff always changes with time. i used to only like the hits off of MM FOOD by MF DOOM but now when i revisit it i appreciate the deep cuts wayyyyyy more. 2001 is an album like that. you’ll come to appreciate the deeper cuts with time
Man, I really wish WTT was a morden classic, I think it would be at the top with TPAB, GKMC and MBDTF
Also I wanted to take a hot take about Logic's The Incredible True Story (also sorry I couldn't type the acronym for the title for it because it would be extremely inappropriate especially with the UA-cam guidelines, so I gotta keep it kid friendly for UA-cam), but um now going back with what I'm commenting about, I believe it is a underrated and overlooked of a modren classic 🤔, and hear me out because it's his most focus and cohesive album I've ever heard and albums I've heard, the songs blend together as a blender very well in it's entirely, plus there are no skips for me on it (not a single one, I could easy play it to front to back), it is important when it first came out (I also wanted to note the first scene in the intro about how important it was going to be for Logic's career), it's also important because it is the first LP he went commercial, then he took off to be little more recognizable (after the release of The Incredible True Story), yes, before Everybody was the one, yes, there wasn't really no radio singles on it, but Like Woah played was everywhere on the NBA commercial, I believe it to be the 2016 one (don't quote me on that), but anyways, he even have the legendary voice actor who played Spike off of Cowboy Bebop on this LP playing a brand new character for crying out loud, imo it's still a classic you could disagree all u want, but don't poke fun of me, pls in the comment selection, keep it nice, you can't forget it's just my opinion 😁

Ik it doesn't fit the vibe of the album, but I honestly couldn't see Melt My Eyes without Troubles. I loved seeing T-Pain after he was gone for so long, the songs a vibe and I don't skip a single track off of Melt My Eyes. I would consider it a classic, definitely.
Troubles on MMESYF is 🔥🔥🔥

AT.LONG.LAST.ASAP is a classic to me
CLB might be a classic Drake album. Going back to it there’s really good material. Of course it’s not Drake’s best album but still solid overall. Her Loss is probably his most recent “classic” album
I think future and Hendrix are classics ngl
This decade has given us 3 classics thus far: SIMBI by Little Simz, TFS by J.I.D and Alfredo by The Alchemist & Freddie Gibbs
There are a few in contention like Pray for Paris, HWH8, Limbo, MMESYF, KD I II III and Magic 1, Cheat Codes, MM&TBS, Heroes and Villains and CMIYGL

I understand what y'all trying to say, But I think there are albums that are 100% classics for the lanes they're in that aren't unanimously celebrated in terms of popularity. XXX & Atrocity Exhibition by Danny Brown or Pinata & Bandana by Freddie Gibbs for example I'd absolutely consider classics, Even if they aren't as widely known by the masses. I think there are several instances of this honestly, 1999 by Joey Badass is an underground classic, IMO the greatest mixtape of all time but the majority of people haven't heard of it. Veteran by JPEGMAFIA is an experimental classic, Probably the most unique, Off the wall album I've heard and the majority of people haven't heard of it. Also, I know people love to clown on Logic but projects like Undeniable, WTF or Under Pressure I honestly believe people would be more willing to consider a classic if his career didn't go in the direction it did, People forget just how highly regarded Logic was at one point before he dropped 1800 and slowly became the internets punching bag, Now people are even too afraid to give Logic any praise whatsoever cause they know they'll likely get made fun of, But his YS/UP days were legit.
Thank you. This should be printed out and framed in the NFR studio
How did they forget about Knife Talk in clb 😭
IMY2 is an amazing song off CLB, that and Way 2 Sexy are the only songs I know off that album lmao

Hello, it's me again just want to add something here 'cause I didn't add it on the last one before on Logic's The Incredible True Story is one of his best concept albums by far and very well for the most part done plus this is going to be another hot take for everyone on this one as well, the main reason why I didn't have Under Pressure labeled as a modren classic is because I never thought it was I always thought it is a great album, but not a classic one and u can't call everything a classic, which is true 🤷🏽♂️
Only album from Cole that can arguably be considered a classic is 2014 Forest Hills Dr. (I personally wouldn’t consider it one. But most will.)
Born sinner is a classic from a cole, surprised they didn’t mention it
Nobody should like Sexyy Red
She's just a diet Young Thug mixed with Chief Keef
In my opinion J Cole only has one classic. Friday Night Lights in handicapped by not being on streaming, it’s gone unheard by even a good amount of Cole fans. I also don’t consider 4yeo a classic album. I think it’s good but its not up there with a pablo and 4:44. I think it’s better for its concept than it’s actual music. If 4yeo is a classic then so is Mr Morale.
Also Future has multiple classics. Ds2 and Monster are trap albums. HNDRXX and Future are part of his legendary 2017 run and definitely classics to most future fans.
