It's not because an album has a concept or a great idea behind it that it can't be bad... execution is more important, form>content
@@WaddupYTthat’s his point. great concepts add to the listening experience, however concept alone is not enough to be good. if so, anything by NF, Kid Cudi’s Speeding Bullet album, etc would be considered good. concept and ideas alone aren’t enough. the songs also need to be good.

I've been going about this for the longest time. Garbage conscious records which slightly touch on any societal problems are regarded higher than 90% of great modern trap and pop rap. It should be a 10/90 split with the idea being the 10% and execution the majority. Nihilistic and sad music in general will always be elevated and kept to a higher level of respect than that of happier and more vibe music despite in general both being of the same quality. Someone like Drake gets so much shit just because he doesn't make anything depressing.. as if there already weren't enough artists for that before and after him.
A lyrically dense summertime banger with a 9/10 beat and SZA sang hook about life being good will be frowned upon by hipsters but an awful and uninspired Earl sweatshirt song with his boring ass voice, adequate production and unimaginative lyrics with a hint of suicidal thoughts sprinkled in will be all their song of the year and the one they defend to the grave
Sometimes Ant doesn’t seem to grasp that an album can have a couple good songs, even GREAT songs and still be a bad album as a whole

I would like to see this type of video done again with rappers such as J. Cole, Kendrick Lamar, Kanye West, Eminem, Drake, The Weeknd, A$AP Rocky, MF DOOM, and 2Pac.

I agree with the exception of Eminem. He absolutely has had bad albums and there's just no debate there. I think you should add somebody whose discography has an album that isn't universally hated

lil uzi is my fav rapper, and i agree. he doesn't have any bad albums, but the pink tape is poorly organized. It has a lot of good sounds but the album as a whole has no replay value. Keep the work uzi. I'm waiting for LIR3. 💯💕🐺

and also his other project cherry bomb, has alot of heavy hitters.

They left out the great American rap album good & liquor 2 and I honestly think I’m the only Lupe fan that listens to Lasers. I even have it tattooed on my hand just because what that album did for me in my life at a low point. Do I understand the hate for that album? Absolutely but as a person that always enjoyed that rapper grab a pop artist for the hook era. This album meant something to me.

I havent listened to all of Lasers so I cant comment on it as a whole album but it seems weird to me that NFR didnt mention The Show Goes On, which is a fantastic song and was THE huge hit off that record.

I've always liked kingdom come. bp 3 is worse but not even bad. Kingdom come, oh my god, show me what you got. these are some real ass bangers. Never understood the disrespect on its name. Its worse than AG and The Black Album sure but both of those are arguable HOV top 5 black album being his #2 to me. I went through nastradamus as well and honestly like Come and get me, project window and Family with Mobb Deep are all great. these albums arent bad.

While Lasers is Lupe's weakest album I can't believe it's rated bad over some of these other albums, it has aged badly and didn't sound great on release but there's still songs where he's simply rapping too well for me to walk away from it saying it's a bad album. I'd certainly rather listen to Lasers vs. some of the other albums that were in contention but not called "bad" on this list.
