Fishing Fort Bragg for Salmon and Big Rockfish!!

we made the drive the salmon fishing slowed down out of bodega bay so we ran up to fort Bragg to give it a shot we didn't have any good reports but we know the rock fishing is way better. We get to fort Bragg get the boat in the water and off we are we ran to the bouy and started trolling we put out a little of everything krippled anchovy, rotary kill, spoons ,and we had flashers and covered lots of depths we found one small salmon and my have missed a bite or two but nothing in the box we decided to try for rock fish. All we did was stop trolling and drop down and we were hooked up and the fish were hitting the deck we caught lots of nice verms and our limit of coppers we were using squid rigs mainly the 3 -4 inch rigs sam use the 6 inch and caught more vermillion rock fish than the rest of us but it was great and we had limits in a short time and a couple nice lingcod. Than we went back to trolling and all we could find was more rockfish and lingcod we had to stay in water less than 180 feet because we had rock fish on board and we are still learning how to fish the area and the spots it was my first time really fishing fort bragg for salmon we will learn it and get better but we had a great time and learned some new spots and met some new people that told us some tip that we will try next time there. The gear we used we cal star rods, mhx custom rods, finwick rods and ugly stick for salmon with shimano reels and abu reels we fished 2 pound balls and deep six and tried the home made flasher with all the usual. Fir rock fish I was using a Penn spinning rod and a gator rod with Penn reels used a octopus lure on the spinning rod and ahi rock cod squid rig with a 2 pound ball in the wind and they worked great.
