This game makes the journey more important than actually winning. Playing with children (11yo, 15yo, 17 yo) gave us a neat real life reference where they were competing to get their destination and reduce the tantrums from poor sports who did not actually win the game. It was even better how the scoring was broken down, someone won each category and could claim a small slice of success. Thank you this is a great family game and made it through the real life test of grumpy players.
Thank you so much for these videos. My 9 year old daughter is getting into these more complex games and we find your videos helpful to choose what to buy and theyre also great for telling us how to play! This game is next on the to buy list.
Got this game for Christmas and just broke it out this morning. We didn't open the rule book and just came straight to this video. It was very clear on how to set it up for our first game! Thank you for taking the time to show this and explain the rules including a few things that might be points of contention (like how a blue 2 still only counts as 1 blue card when taking a tour).
The designer of Trekking was featured in the Gamemaster documentary. I recommend watching it for some very interesting insight into the production of this series of games. Anyways, this sequel looks great!
This looks fun! We love to travel, so it would fit our model. I will be adding this to the wish list for sure. Great video as usual, Rodney You are the best!!
Great how to play video, Rodney. My wife and I played this over the weekend and really like it. This is a really good gateway level game (as is its easy to learn and play) but has some really enjoyable gameplay. It has some similar elements to Spice Road as you may be all geared up to travel to a site and get that 20 point then card then an opponent gets there first and takes the card right before you...argh!!! But that also makes it fun to play.
I got this game gifted to me by my daughter and son-in-law. As they couldn't be with us to break the ice on the game, we had a look at your video to get the hang of the game. Clear and concise - thank you so much. What made our first game even better was my middle daughter (who is not a particular fan of board games) ended up winning. (And none of us knew who was going to win until we added up the scores at the end.) There are some synergies with Ticket to Ride which I love. Will definitely be playing again (and checking out your channel too).
Hey, thanks Mark - really nice to know the video helped you get into the swing of things - and even better to know you enjoyed playing. Thanks for checking out the channel - hope you find some other titles you might enjoy!
Pretty similar to National Parks, but I do like instead of the red cards that were used with the tents, you use the bonus points over the 2 farthest to the right. I like that much better. And you don't just get 1 point for each pebble and whoever has the most of that color gets the bonus points, you keep track of them in your suitcase. I like that much better as well. Thanks for the review. I'll be on the hunt for this one.
Got this game for Xmas and this was the first place I came for a tutorial. Thanks for what you do and if you’re ever in COlorado and wanna play games, hit me up!
I never go to anyone else when I have board games to check out, whether pre or post purchase. Your videos are definitely the best! Thanks so much for this one. Looking forward to playing this game without having to read the instructions first.
This game looks cool to play. I saw it in one of my store and was interested in the trekking theme. As a visit and collect places themed game I've already got Parks and I'm thinking of adding this one to my collection.
I have a question. What does one do in a situation where their player piece is stuck in between two other player pieces and can not move. Being that the first action is to move before playing one of the other three actions and being that the rules state you can not move through another player?
I do by best to answer all rules questions on the games I cover, but I avoid individual card effects, as that's a level of detail beyond what I can manage across all the videos I do. I'd suggest checking the rules forum for the game on BoardGameGeek or the publishers website. I hope you can find your answer there - have fun playing!
The catch me if you can says you can move up to 4 spots but does that mean you can take a cube as well assuming your 4th move is on a spot with a cube? This is around the 12:00 mark in the video, thanks in advance

I guess the update is to correct the rule that you place your trekker on the board as the first step in setup, before other elements, such as souvenir cubes and destination cards are revealed. I played this wrong the first couple time I played. We placed our trekkers at the end of setup. Honestly, I prefer that way. I don't really understand why you place them first, with absolutely no information to go on. I guess that there could be an advantage gained by knowing what is already on the board if you are the first player to get to place your trekker, but that's part of strategy. You can pick who is the start player randomly anyway. I don't know, that feels unintuitive to me.
@@WatchItPlayed Yes, I saw that... Was just commenting why I don't understand why they made it that way... I've now played doing it both ways, I don't think it's better to be totally random like that..
