Another clear and concise review. Feels like this wave of core xy printers is really going to improve 3d printer. It's nice that it naturally has an enclosure so you can readily print more exotic materials. Would be good to see a review not just on speed but also how well they print ABS, Nylon etc
Wow! This thing is only $299 on Amazon in the USA right now. That's a bargain for the speed and material options. It has basically the same print volume as an A1 Mini and is much more capable for the same money. Sure, no AMS option, but I think I'd much rather have an enclosed printer like this. Honestly think this is being slept on compared to a lot of more popular printers. Imagine if Creality or Bambu Lab released a small enclosed Klipper printer like this for $299. There would be reviews on every single channel as fast as possible and as long as it was decent people would be singing its praises. Even at $399 it's really a solid price. Good review!
I almost forgot, because of you, I am a newbie that has mostly mastered my Ender 3 S1 Pro with the Sonic Pad hooked up to it, in just 2 weeks. So here's something for the work you've done. Then test out that Sgetti Detective that Creality said that's on there, please. So far, I tested it twice, since discovering it on there yesterday. Both times, it just made a mess. Bits of PLA tossed all over my office.
@@RickyImpey P.S. I printed my first Speedboat at 26 minutes just now. 150mm/s. The first bit of the bow got wonky. Is that bad cooling when it starts curling up? The rest is super nice, but slightly under extruded. Forgot my CHT nozzle before I started. Lol
Another great review Ricky. I have the XMax 3 on pre-order and cant wait for it to arrive. I was leery of doing a pre-order but Qidi has a good reputation for customer support and I respect the fact they stopped shipping the middle sized one because of the bed warping at print temp.
Update on X Max 3. Qidi apparently shared your concerns about the Carbon Fiber rods and they have redesigned with Stainless Steel tubes instead. They also upgraded the cooling in the hotend and put metal under the bed. I was really impressed with those changes and they listened to you and others that have reviewed these units. They sent me an email and it even had pictures of the new upgrades.
Although the metal rods do not contribute to cooling, they do require more maintenance and care. What Qidi doesn't mention: The x-Smart can also do 350°! Apart from bed ventilation, room heating and exhaust filters, it lacks nothing and can do practically everything that the X-Plus/X-Max can do. My favorite printer for small things! Especially since there is only one power supply running here, it is quiet and therefore energy-saving. Happy new year ;-)
Another great video, thank you! Do you think this machine is comparable/a competitor to a Voron 0.2? I have been in the market for a fast rapid prototyping machine that is reliable and capable of printing PETG, ASA, etc. all day long. How does the PEI build plate hold up to PEI? I am quite shocked that more printers aren't' being shipped with G10/FR4 build surfaces.
No offer from Creality on a K1 so I'm having to wait for a distributor to get some stock to send me one. I'm afraid my 100% honest review policy doesn't endear me to manufacturers all that much. You would be surprised how many offers I get to 'promote' products under the guise of a review which is something I just won't do out of principle. Be assured that when I do get hold of one, and have enough time to fully test it, you will get a thorough review 🙂
@@RickyImpey I appreciate the honest reviews. I got the Sonic Pad yesterday after watching your series on it. I followed your guide to the letter and I love it! I don't think I'll ever use a machine in the future without klipper.

I thought the problem with these are where the z axis mount to frame. My understanding was the bottom is majority plastic. When Temps heat up, the z axis sags so the over all hieght of part will increase
Can I use Cura with Qidi printers or is it better to use there own? Is there a profile in Cura for the Qudi x-smart already? I read somewhere that people have had problems with Cura and the Qidi machines.
@@baxrok2. Aurora Tech said it was pretty quiet. Stays well under 70dB with door and top open, stays under 60dB with both closed. Seems very quiet compared to most budget bed slingers for example.
@@MikeMPharmaCyclist it has inductive sensor but you still need to manually adjust offset same as any inductive setup. also inductive sensor adds a lot of useless mass to the extruder.
Not a very good explanation of core xy, the same explanation is true for cartesian machines also, although if I were asked to explain core xy I would have a tough time and just say it was witchcraft as before I got my head around it core xy did look as though it was witchcraft (insert meme of Radogast The Brown here "It's not as if it's witchcraft, oh but it is witchcraft")

I agree, I still use mine regularly. It's a great machine.
I like it so much I got another one. I've got a few Prusas but this machine is really fast and I love it

Thanks for the awesome videos dude!
3:29 I new to all things 3d printing. Anyway that dehumidifier is pretty clever.

Will you review the K1 as well?
I hope so and creality really should have sent him one already after all the work he did educating people on their sonic pad.

Nice review. Is this a silent printer? (My Ender 3 v2 is quite noisy)
Aurora Tech measured it as pretty quiet. Somewhere around 60dB with the door open IIRC.

Would you mind sharing speeds that you managed to achieve with different materials?
Are they shipped to ph ?? i want this to try .. i dont like the creality now lots of head ache
This one is very interesting.
wait what?? The x smart their cheapest printer does auto Z offsetting meanwhile my x max 3 requires me to use paper???

I just bought this for 280 dollars
It's an insanely good deal at that price! So capable.
I just bought this and an elagoo mars 4 max for 240!!! I’m so excited

It's probably loud too, like all their other ones.
They all gloss over the noise levels these new printers make. For people in apartments or shared spaces, the noise is a deal breaker.

It's 2023. Manual bed leveling really? It's baffling qidi would choose to still use that. Prusa, Bambu, and Creality have moved on to nozzle probing.
It has auto-bed leveling?

Do you ever have anything positive to say? Give it a rest.
Create a UA-cam channel and explain to people. Omg you're the kind of person that stinks.
