Since you've said you're gonna play the game, and given your usage of the word "playthrough", I'll just warn you that since Strive is a fighting game the main bulk of what you're probably gonna be doing is multiplayer matches, learning to master whichever character you pick in the process. There's 2 main singleplayer modes, there's arcade mode which is basically just 8 matches with the 1st, 7th and 8th giving some form of story for the character you went in with. The mode called "story mode" is basically just a 5 hour anime with zero gameplay. You could totally still like watch it on your UA-cam channel it's a good time! Just letting you know that mode has no gameplay, and also it might be a good idea to get caught up on the story of the series before Strive if you decide to do so. There's a channel called Woolie Versus that has a series of videos that hits all the important stuff it's perfect for catching up if you want. Otherwise if you want to "play through" something then the arcade mode is there. The base roster and season 1 DLCs arcade modes are all pretty similar and some of them are kind of uninteresting, they all fight a boss version of Nagoriyuki at the end, but the DLC characters in season 2 and onward all have the best arcade route stories all with different boss fights at the end. I think Ky, Axl, Giovanna, I-No, Anji, Goldlewis, Happy Chaos, Testament, and then all the characters season 2 and beyond but especially Bridget, Bedman?, Johnny, Elphelt and A.B.A have the best arcade modes that are most worth seeing. Each character has a couple different arcade endings, all of them are canon in some way, which one you get is based on how well you do, whether or not you lose a round at any point (if you are going for a flawless run you can throw the match if you lose a round to get another chance instead of having to start over lol). If you go completely undefeated all the way thru the stage 8 boss you can even unlock a 9th stage which is ludicrously difficult but if you can beat it it's super satisfying.

I never thought a Bed can make me tear up😢 It's a brother telling his sister that no matter where you'll be I'll come to you without a second thought and he will never make her cry, I know some about the lore how he and his sister had psychopowers but had to be put asleep and he died while releasing his sister and now his soul possess the killer bed. Since i first saw guilty gear Bedman always intrigued me.

Apologies for the rough breakdown, I dont do this often.
Now I know you said you don't personally like the lyrics (even if its more for the sound), but the lyrics for this song are part of what got me to love this character. Lore breakdown would be that in the last game, Xrd, Bedman appeared as one of the most powerful villains, killing as he pleased, seemingly without reason, as he was always asleep (noted there was actually a man on this bed at the time.) Eventually its revealed the whole reason he does this is to create an 'absolute world' without suffering for him and his sister. Both of them have a rare genetic disorder that cause their thoughts to move faster then their brains can keep up, hence they have to stay asleep or else their brains will overheat. All of this he does for her, who hasnt even felt the touch of another person. Romeo (Bedman) isnt fully heartless either, as he remembered every single person that has been killed so they can be brought back after their goal is succeeded. He is however defeated by Robo-ky and Venom (2 characters you might not run into for a bit as they aren't in strive yet) and when he wakes up, its revealed that the main villain of the story was using him and was going to wipe out the human race. He almost kills her but dies right before he can, the last thing he does being sending the kast bit of energy he has to let his sister safely wake up. The circle has a ton of ways to interpret it but the man way i see it, is that its what goes through bedman's head before he dies, with the constant reference to God, the seemingly perfect heaven being nothing like expected, being an endless finiteness, and so on, the circle is the circle of life. The last chorus is his last orders to the bedframe to protect Delilah (his sister) at all costs.
Again, apologies if this was not good or rambly, im just very passionate about this character. I recommend Gekkosqurriels video about the theme meanings once you've gone through them all

I'm glad you are honest about your feelings about the singing. I think if you want some other singers, there are some songs in the game that aren't sung by the "main guy". Extras is a female vocalist featuring both harsh and clean singing, Perfection Can't Please me, Disaster of Passion and Town Inside Me are more anime/pop inspired, very fun and upbeat with not many metal elements. Necessary Discrepancy is a duet with the main singer and a female co-singer, and Love the Subhuman self is a female vocalist with harsh vocal backing by a male singer. Otherwise, all the songs are kinda the same singer, even if he does have a pretty fun range for a thrash metal singer. I'd recommend checking out one of those next if you're interested in something different.

I completely understand your feelings about the lyrics. This is the first game in the Guilty Gear series that leans so heavily into the vocals. You aren't the only one. Glad you're digging the sick instrumentation. It being intense, complex or irregular are all trademark qualities. Like you said, you can DEFINITELY tell the same guy made these songs.

And to note, Clouddrop's lyrics aren't reliable. I believe Capnbooker is the most reliable uploader for lyrics on YT since he seeks out sources and updates his lyrics accordingly.

I remember when I was just getting into GG music (I don’t play GG or fighting games), it was watching 8bitdrummer play [Drift] and I was like “ehhh, I like the song but the pronunciation of words is weird so it’s throwing me off” (especially felt weird about the Disney part). I gave it a few more listens and I began to like it more and more so I tried to explore the Ost and the first few songs I didn’t like (once again because I wasn’t used to the unique way they stretch/shorten English words) so I just assumed “eh, I guess this was just a hidden gem”. Fast forward I stumbled upon [Find your own way] which I liked so I said F it, I’ll give ‘em another go and started to find the ones I enjoyed and even liked some that I didn’t like before and began watching for every character release then on. I remember not liking the lyrics of this song at first and now i love them, and it’s in my top 5 GG Strive songs
Side note: In my Top 25 all songs playlist, there are 5 GG Strive songs alone now

@@xArt_16 SAME. I bounced off the vocal songs in Strive my first go around. Jump forward in time, I not only like the sound of the vocals, the lyrics themselves hit me in the feels. Alone Infection, The Circle, Symphony, Requiem, dammit ALL OF THEM.

  • @feircy

"Extras" is a little weird but it has two very distinct vocal styles all being sung by the same singer and layered over each other, and there's a short guitar solo in the middle that just goes harder thsn it has any reason too lol. Its def worth a listen just to hear it.
"Requiem" is guitar city, and "drift" is just absolute chaos on sheet music lol.
"Hellfire" is a more traiditional metal style that just goes hard the whole time. Man the OST for strive is so good it got me to watch a 2 hour lore breakdown on a franchise I have never played 😂
Edit: how could I forget "symphony" and "alone infection".

Hell yes, dude. I just came across your channel and you got a new subscriber. If you want some suggestions specifically for Guilty Gear Strive music, here's my list of recommended tracks, in no particular order because I'd have trouble ranking them (tracks marked with * feature Aisha, the game's official female vocalist, and the one track marked with ** is sung by Molly Daisy Scarpine):
Smell of the Game (OP Theme) ✅
Find Your One Way (Sol Badguy Theme) ✅
The Roar of the Spark (Ky Kiske Theme)
    Armor-clad Faith (Potemkin Theme)
    Alone Infection (Faust Theme)
The Name of Heaven (Arcade Version ED Theme)
Love the Subhuman Self (Millia Rage Theme)*
Play the Hero (Chipp Zanuff Theme)
The Disaster of Passion (May Theme)*
Out of the Box (Axl Low Theme)
Rock and Roll, Rock Hard Maniac
Let Me Carve Your Way (Zato-ONE Theme)
    Necessary Discrepancy (Ramlethal Valentine)*
    Crawl (Arcade Mode Boss Theme)
What Do You Fight For (Nagoriyuki Theme)
Perfection Can't Please Me (Jack-O' Theme)*
    Requiem (I-No Theme)
The Kiss of Death (Goldlewis Dickinson Theme)
Like a Weed, Naturally, As a Matter of Course (Testament Theme)
    Drift (Happy Chaos Theme)
    Trigger (Giovanna Theme)
    Hellfire (Leo Whitefang Theme)
Rock Parade (Anji Mito Theme) ✅
Mirror of the World (Baiken Theme) ✅
Talk About You (Console Version ED Theme)
The Town Inside Me (Bridget Theme)*
    The Hourglass (Sin Kiske Theme)
    The Circle (Bedman? Theme) ✅
    The Gravity (Asuka Theme)
    Just Lean (Johnny Theme)
    Extras (Elphelt Valentine Theme)**
    Symphony (A.B.A. Theme)
Ups and Downs (Slayer Theme, coming May 30th or so)
Just kidding about "no particular order," btw, because that's just the entire tracklist for the official OST, in order, plus the DLC character themes in order of release. Some are more metal than others ("The Town Inside Me" is probably the least metal but it's still a great song) and there's a spectrum that goes from "Straightforward Ass-Kicking, Not a Lot of Surprises" (e.g. "Find Your One Way" or "Play the Hero") to "What the F**k Did I Just Listen To [But I Have to Admit It Still Kicked My Ass]" (e.g. "Drift" or "Symphony").
Anyway this might seem like a super unhelpful comment, but now you have a checklist. You're welcome. 😁

There are songs in strive sung by different persons, so maybe you'll dig that. Said songs are: love the subhuman self, disaster of passion, perfection can't please me, the town inside me, extras.
Or if you prefer instrumentals, you might wanna check guilty gear games before strive, or BlazBlue.

If you don't like the vocals but love the instrumentation, you might like the music from Guilty Gear Xrd, as a lot of tracks from that game have no vocals
'Marionette' and 'Original Bet' are two really enjoyable tracks
and if you wanna go for some of the older stuff, you could listen to tracks from Guilty Gear Isuka like 'Quicksilver', or tracks from Guilty Gear XX like 'Keep Yourself Alive 2'

I prefer the older game OSTs, especially Guilty Gear X2 - Midnight Carnival. That shit is so classic rock and metal it just fucking tickles my brain even without lyrics... All the homages to other bands and songs. Chefs kiss.

I'm also not the biggest fan of the lyrics but the voice itself, the melody and the delivery are often very good. But yeah too bad the lyrics are often broken even if this one has actually some of the better lyrics (somewhat) when you have the context.

Clouddrop gets the lyrics wrong a lot of the time. In this case Naoki himself said that the chorus is "Consuming ten millions years in an instant" and not "Comes to me ten million years in an instant" for example. His Kiss of Death and Mirror of the World uploads are by far the worst ones getting major parts of the lyrics wrong.

Yeah the singing on this is not good but now that I listened to most of the osts multiple times, my brain is just programmed to like anything guilty gear, it's like once you get used to it, it fully clicks and you start enjoying every song, you even start liking the singing when previously it was off-putting

    • @jazminnette8578
      @jazminnette8578 5 місяців тому +3

The singing is absolutely amazing, it's just a matter of taste imo. If you don't like metal and other stuff like it, you won't like the music. But the craziness in the vocals is especially appropriate for this song and its context in particular.
