  • Welcome back to Auto Scholar with Mr. B!
    On this 2007 Volkswagen Passat B6 we had an air conditioner cooling problem. Turns out the problem was actually with the outside temperature sensor circuit. In this video, I show you how to diagnose the problem, including wiring diagram and connections. Be sure to watch the end so you know how the sensor is calibrated because it makes all the difference in the repair.
    I apologize for my camera having a few focus issues throughout, I am working on a fix or working on finding a cameraman!
    Let me know if this fixed your issue!

    Hello, I have such a problem, maybe you can help me. On the WV PASSATZE B6, the water fan rotates only at one speed and forces water into the plug. I changed the fan, the water temperature sensor and the engine computer. I was at the Volkswagen center, unfortunately no one could hear anything. Has anyone had such a case? Thanks in advance !

    Ok Mr. B. Here is my issue. 2015 VW Jetta. Changed the temp sensor. Hooked up my snap on solus or modis that a friend let me use. And I still can’t get the A/C to work. The temp sensor is getting a reading so know it is good. And I have voltage to plug. My question is there a way to fix the cluster if the issue is there? The VW dealer is on back order with no time frame on arrival of the clusters. Thanks for all the good work.

    I replaced the sensor
    I even rewired the hub
    I tested the old sensor and it was reading low resistance.
    My ambient temperature is still reading low
    I don’t know what else to do. Does anyone have any suggestions?

    Nice video, thank you. A couple questions, if I may: A) Does the need for a half hour or so calibration apply to most car brands?
    B) I am also getting those crazy temp readings and error codes for that sensor. I tested the resistance of the sensor and it is within spec (2.7-2.9 KOhm); when I probe the two car wires, without the sensor installed, it shows 5V on one wire and nothing on the other, but when I back probe the same wires with the sensor installed, it shows 5V on both wires - from what you said that is not right, in that there should be at least some voltage drop. How can there be normal resistance and the same voltage on both wires- is this confirmation that the sensor is bad, despite having normal resistance? The temp reading is clearly wrong (185F).
    Thanks again,

    heyo,
    gotta 08 jetta, my ambient temp sensor was hanging under the car and they plugged it back in. not sure what the code was, they didnt tell me. weird thing happened before i took my car into the shop. I went to a car wash, i drove onto the track and put it in neutral, when the water started washing the front of the car, i got the temp reading back for a good couple seconds, enough for me to put the car back in drive and back in neutral. so the error with the three dashes reappeared when the car wash machine started heading towards the back of the vehicle. the difference in the reading vs real temp was about 9 degrees off.
    they informed me that itll be a fix worth a couple hundred dollars. which i dont want to do if i dont really need it bc i dont have the money right now. not to mention that i also need a fkn water pump to do. and need money for that. anyway, is fix truly this needed?

    Hello Mr. B and the rest of youtube, My T5 2.5TDI radiator fan keeps blowing full speed as soon as you turn on the ignition. Gave the 00779 code, and 5697 code(airco module). Changed the outside temp sensor, let it idle, no luck. The plug tests about 5volts, both sensors (old and new)are arround the 900ohm, close to yours. Checked the wiringharnas behind the bumper and tests are showing its fine. What else could it be? Fan Control module maybe? Or could the airco module produce this problem?

    Good video, thanks for that. A bad outside temperature sensor can cause, that the electric auxiliary fan not turning on when ac is on? Give direct 12v to the fan, it is spinning. VCDS says, there is a fault code, Outside Air Temperature sensor (G17) is "open or shorted" or something similar. The temprature on the instrument and on the climatronic is looks valid. Or maybe cause the problem a broken fuse or relay? Thanks a lot!

    • @AutoScholarwithMrB
      @AutoScholarwithMrB  3 роки тому

      I do not believe the fan would be related. If the a/c is cold, that would indicate the compressor is working. A bad temp sender for the instrument panel would not allow the compressor to come on. I would check fuses/relays and go from there.

    Good day, hope you are well. I hope you can help me, we drive a VW Passat 2007 model 2.0. We never had problems with our car until a year ago. Our AC stopped working. We found your video and realised that we have the same problem as the one you fixed on the video. Before the AC broke the reading was there but totally wrong, when the AC broke the reading disappeared totally. We bought a new sensor and replaced it and we also checked the power and all seems fine. The temperature is back on the cluster but the AC is still not working. We did the 30minute drive but no luck. The car AC was vacuumed and it was filled with gas again. Any idea on what else to check? We also replaced the pressure switch on the AC pipe.

    • @AutoScholarwithMrB

    • @abigailodendaal6811
      @abigailodendaal6811 2 роки тому

      Is there a way to see if the compressor is working correctly without the diagnostic? We did by passed the system when the AC stopped working. The AC started working but a few minutes later the safety valve on the compressor popped and some gas came out. We switched the car of immediately and the gas stopped coming out. That is when we took the car for the vacuum and re-full on the AC.

    Shows 10-15°C less. Sometimes runs like mad into -30°C and outside is 30+.
    Any hints perhaps?
    Wiring, connectors...something?
    I was on ECU computer and service at authorised VW service and they said: Everything is ok with your Golf MK5, everything is tip-top state and your AC is working fine as well as outside temp sensors 🤦🏻🤦🏻🤦🏻🤦🏻😂😂😂😂
    They billed me ofcourse, but they didnt do nothing! 😂
    They ensure me that its working 😂
    And I am looking dash reading 10°C, AC not cooling at all, outside is hell approx 35°C 🤦🏻
    Asked them whos crazy me or you folks, look at this, did you even touched that car or what?
    Solved nothing...
