Great video, I have the same deck and about to perform pretty much all the same stuff. It was nice to watch someone else that has tackled the same issues, thank you for taking the time to do the video!

Your video was excellent! I had to replace my belt; only lasted 22 years! 😆 Went to JD dealer and bought the belt, while there, I asked for a little advice on how to, any tricks to ease installation; they looked at me like, "What!! You want advice?! Out(the door)with you!!"
Your video made the job MUCH easier. Simple, easy to follow instructions and, either loosening or removing the drive system is the ONLY way you're going to get the belt on the drive system pully.
    Thanks again, great job!!

To save that deck better, have it sandblasted or strip it yourself including the bottom real good. Use epoxy primer top and bottom 2 coats. Use 2K spray cans or spray gun. Spray 2 or 3 coats John Deere yellow. Mower decks rust out. The epoxy primer seals the metal so it doesn't rust out. Done right and the deck will outlast the tractor.

Thanks for the video, my deck rusted out even after I patch welded it o er the years. I bought a new one from Kohn Deere. It was the last one in their inventory. I painted the underside with truck bed liner to help prevent rust. That was three years ago. Now it keeps throwing the belt. I took into the JD dealer and spent $400 only to have it work for a couple of mowings and then start throwing g the belt again when ever I would engage it.😬Does anyone have any suggestions?

Yes, had same problem. Belt spring is undersized. I put heavier duty spring on and has not thrown a belt in 5 years.

These are great videos of the 425. Just wondered if you ever took it to your folks and what they thought of what you did? I bought a used 425. Took it to a friend to check it out. Deck adjustment was broke, the water temperature gauge & fuel were not working. My friend did some investigating on the instrument cluster, checking for loose wires & such. Mower was suppose to have 729 hours. Found out someone had blacked out the #1, so it has 1729. He was able to fix the deck, ordered a new instrument cluster, just under $500. Not much I can do about the false engine hours. Hopefully it will last a long time. I’m hoping the plastic cam gear has been replaced.

Yes, my folks took the mower back last year. It runs well, and has no issues. The yard looks great thanks to a properly set up deck and fresh blades. Thanks for watching!
