I totally understand what these kids with hearing loss are going through, I was born 80% deaf, I depend on hearing aids, and I can lip read. My uncle was also deaf, but he was amazing, he would put his speakers face down on either the front or back porch, take his shoes off, put a record on, and he would play the song twice, and play the song perfectly, note for note just by listening with his feet, that's how my grandma explained it to me. The dads in this video are amazing, with the exception of Neil, our son is autistic, and I can't imagine just walking away from him and out of his life. He's 31 and still lives at home. Thank you to all you wonderful, loving dads.
You don't know what "special needs" means. Dyslexia, depression, body dysmorphia, and ADHD, are NOT special needs. Not mentioned: Mark Tremonti, from Tremonti, Alter Bridge, and Creed, has a daughter, Stella, with Down's Syndrome. He is very active in raising money for families with children with DS. He recorded an album of Frank Sinatra covers, and 100% of the money went to a DS organization.
Thank you for saying this. Not to say the children portrayed here aren't suffering or have had to overcome difficulties but dyslexia? ADHD? Body dysmorphia? If these are considered "special needs" then pretty much every person I've ever known in my life is "special needs".
i do think there is more to the story .Angie Bowie was unfairly vilified .Zowie Bowie (Duncan Jones) was sent to Boarding school , he spent little time with David Bowie in his in his youth .
All I can say is what an awesome job these kids' moms did. Who took care of these children while the guys were out on the road touring or spending hours upon hours in recording studios? The moms.
My husband has dyslexia & I certainly don’t look at it as special needs ! In fact we call him Macyver cause he can fix anything ! He also plays guitar & can play anything by sound ! If anything he is Gifted !
As a dyslexic female I do agree to a certain extent. Dyslexic children do need specialized support in their early education but a lot of understanding too, both my daughter and granddaughter have it too. I always say that when I reached the age of 13 I had a really great teacher who was interested in helping kids like me, she got me reading and that set me up for life! I completed High School (year 12 here in Australia) when I was 21, after the teachers had said I didn't stand a chance! My daughter also completed High School and I have no doubt my granddaughter will too. You're absolutely right about us being geniuses, many great business leaders have been dyslexic and they did not go to university! We've all got a certain area that we excel in. 😊
@@CocoEmmet61when I was in school I couldn’t figure anything out and I wouldn’t understand most of what we were doing but 45 yrs ago I was told I was lazy, wasn’t trying and even in elementary school I was told I must be retarded because I was having a problem. Dyslexia and learning disabilities were not paid attention to and nobody knew what it was or cared. I never got my diploma but 10 years after I got out of school I was finally tested and found out that I was dyslexic and had learning difficulties mostly from ADHD but when I was a kid there was no term special needs but I would have been better had someone had figured it out when I was young.

Lot of people nowadays seem to suffer from autism, dyslexia, ADHD... Or maybe we are just medicalizing attitudes and behaviors that WE think differ from an ideal standard?
My grandson was born deaf, he has had Cochlear implants since he was 7 years old. Never taught sign language he has gone to therapy and classes to teach him to speak. He is now almost 6 and unless you pay close attention you can't tell he was deaf, other than the device on him. He speaks normal except for L's and R's. He also speaks 2 languages now as he is in a bilingual house. He loves music and LOVES dancing. I believe he will go far in life and be successful. Think this grandmother is going to pay for him to get dance lessons this summer.

Mia Tyler's problems would be easily solved by a lifestyle change. She just needs to go on a diet and exercise. This body positivity thing is a ruin of many young women. Accept your fat body and go on eating until you end stuck in bed.
I never considered my son a "special needs" kid. He had cerebral palsy, dyslexia and a memory deficit disorder, and I was told on the day he was born that he would not live more than 24 hours, but to me he was just my son. He is now 45 years old. I gave up my professional music career to care for him and raise him to be as independent as he could be. I have returned to music now, but only as a hobby and I have included him in that very special hobby of mine as the music was the one thing that helped both of us through the tough times. Music proves time and time again that it is the best medicine for anything that the world can throw at you. @@margiesoapyhairbillian4754 Do you feel sorry for me? I have dyslexia and ADD and I have never been considered special needs. Neither consider themselves as special needs. Yes, we all had to learn to do things in a different way than you did but we still do the same things.
“Yes, ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) is considered a special need, as it can qualify as a disability under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), meaning a child with ADHD may be eligible for special education services in school, particularly when their symptoms significantly impact their learning abilities; however, it falls under the category of "Other Health Impaired" rather than "Specific Learning Disabilities.".
