Algy Ward's Tank is releasing "Sturmpanzer" very soon, as Algy Ward is releasing it under his own copyrighted ownership of the Tank name. This, thanks to his ungrateful former band members who stole his name when he became ill and unable to tour anymore. Like he said in Crawl Back Into Your Hole....."without my name, they're unknown". SOLDIER ON, ALGY, we still love ya!
Well, it's a great album, no doubt. But I really do not know wich of the 4 that I have is best; Filth Hounds, Power of tThe Hunter, This Means War or Honour and Blood... After these I lost contact with the band. Thanks for posting! Cheers from Brasil!
awesome 2nd album from one of the best new wave of british heavy metal bands tank. and in the same year as their debut album 1982. and people have slagged this album off calling it lackluster, they are talking shit. it is solid heavy metal. ok of all their albums they have not managed to top their debut album, but i love all their albums. so fuck the critics. this works for me a lot. #nwobhmforever
My review on Allmusic written July 7, 2018. 5 Stars Tank's second LP; Power Of The Hunter was released in 1982 on UK label Kamaflage. A widely held view seems to be that Power Of The Hunter is a disappointing follow-up to the great Filth Hounds Of Hades classic. I have always disagreed with this assertion as Power Of The Hunter gave Algy Ward and Tank one of the great first two LP releases in Metal. The LP cruises through one great song after another featuring such classics as "Pure Hatred", "Some Came Running", "Used Leather (Hanging Loose)", "Crazy Horses" and the scorching "Set Your Back On Fire". I have always placed Power Of The Hunter in high regard and consider it to be one of the absolute classic LPs of the genre.
Alge ward on bass ex member of the damned 1977 British punkband that went on to form tank . . . the second album by the trio named power of the Hunter. TURN ON TURN UP! ! TO BE LOUD.! !
+vonsmink1 where in the fucking world do you live? im like the alien of this fucking town with this music , not that i give a fuck. But around here, you mention the band tank and the headbangers think your an outdated wannabe toolbag, mention it to the non metalheads and they dont have a clue what this shit is.
Eu amo esse álbum! Obrigado por compartilhá-lo! Poderia meter um tradutor aqui, por todo mundo se comunicar em inglês. mas foda-se, sou brasileiro e isso também não importa pois meus país é liderado por um lixo! haha!
I know everyone compares these guys to Motorhead, but on a lot of this album, the riffs and rhythms sound like the funkier side of 70's Aerosmith. Pretty good anyway you slice it.
Seriously, listen to "Set Your Back on Fire" and imagine a young Steven Tyler screeching over that rhythm section. Now the instrumental band named track, that's closer to Motorhead.
"biting and scratching" as well.. dont like much aerosmith, but i do have to admit this has a similar groove for sure..and i do really like this album.
Great 2nd Album:-). I guess i gotta get vinyl soon...well, some slight similarities to Motörhead are there, but that´s it a far as i´m concerned. Tank are quite unique and i love these guys, hard driving metal that sticks in your mind.
jeni maiden Yep, the one and only Tank. New Wave Of British Heavy Metal survivors and along with a handful of other bands of their day (Raven, Saxon, Tygers Of Pan Tang) are representatives of a truly unique and original time in metal music. A time I dare say, that sounds just as good now as it did then maybe even BETTER!
Heavy or not but this albums sounds just awesome! Kudos to late Nigel Gray, such a great producer/sound engineer (not a "heavy metal" one, but extremely recognizable with trademark sound like on first three Police records and Siouxsie's several ones). Songwise "Hounds" are better, but this one is very good as well.

This is kind of a strange album. Much like Axewitch's The Lord of Flies (1983) it comes inbetween extremely good records put out by the band in question, and in a year where it really "shouldn't have been able to come out weak" style-wise. Still, this is a bit lackluster. No real hit cavalcade like their first album, and also less heavy, strangely. This Means War has many fillers as well but is at least heavy and has a couple of hit songs. From this album, only "Walking Barefoot over Glass" stands out in my ears and it's still more of a rock song than heavy metal.
I guess I like this album more than _Filth Hounds..._ because it reminds of the funkier side of Motorhead, especially my personal favorite , _Another Perfect Day_ which is within the same vein style-wise, only we have Thin Lizzy luminary Brian Robertson to thank for that one.

12. Crazy Horses" (Osmond, Osmond, Osmond) (single version) -- 41:17
13. Filth Bitch Boogie" (B-Side of "Crazy Horses" single) -- 43:47
TANK You¡¡¡ :)
It's nitpicking, but I don't think Oh, What A Beautiful Morning should count as a bonus track since it's included on the original LP.
