27 years ago I was 24, and I bought a Yamaha RD350R. I still have it, I still have goosebumps when I ride her. And she is a poor, old, humble, simple RD 350, 60 HP, 145 kg. And I still love her...
A Suter MMX500 was on display at Laguna Seca several years ago. It was exceptional in every detail, down to the smallest fasteners. It was a fabulous machine to behold!
Oh man! Enjoyed this very much. Don you were priviledged for sure. Have been researching Suter for years now, previously owned RD 350 and RZ 500 Yamaha's... There are really no words to describe a 500 V4 2-stroke. This is an absolute masterpiece, and bargain at any price. Good show guys 👍🏻
Two stroke is always number one.... Hats off for doing an amazing bike and a bike company like Suter MMX 500 for two strokes freaks like us.. Someday hoping to have a suter 500 195bhp in my garage... TWO STOKE IS KING FOREVER !
There’s no way I could control such a beast at its limits, but if I was rich I’d buy one in a heartbeat! My first 3 bikes were 250 2-strokes, the last of those an RGV, all while I was watching the likes of Wayne Gardner, Eddie Lawson, Freddie Spencer, Randy Mamola and newcomers Wayne Rainey and Kevin Schwantz... I miss the 2-Stoke era!
Such a pity we cannot get at least 1/2 more 2stroke options for the public. Just look at how compact that packaging is, yet it is super powerful and still light weight.
I had a mint condition all stock RZ350 back in '95 and I thought that was a challenging ride...it's hard to imagine what this would be like. Street!?, no thank you....track?...HELL YES!
Imagine riding a very light flexible Framed Yamaha TZ-750 with crappy narrow tires and a very short wheel base.. and high speed Wobble .. the Suter is such a huge improvment over the mid to late 1970's two strokes..
That is an incredible video. So perfectly conveyed how special that 2 strokes and in particular the Suter is. My dream bike. If I win lotto it will be my first purchase!
Almost 200hp and 127 kilos of Swiss precision engineering & manufacturing at it's finest! This is probably the most radical bike on the market - since many years. It's more than a 500cc GP-Bike: it's a 570cc V4 2 stroke rocket that don't have to follow GP reglements. I assume that riding THIS bike feels not less spectacular as riding an iconic Britten V1000.
Kenny Roberts built his own World Class fuel injected two stroke bikes too called the Proton .. fuel injected two stroes.. their 500 CC two strokes just could not compete with the 1,000 CC four strokes they had to compete against.. Kenny sold some of them to a Collector in South Africa who got them back into running shape
Ya, but they where v3 not v4 engine. Look, if the big four wanted, they could produce, today, 500ccc 2 stroke with almost 300cv, it was just politics, not technology. Even so, Barros, in 2 stroke machine, gave them, the four stroke machines some good races, Honda itself, told that they could produce a 2 stroke engine(500cc) with more power than the 4 stroke (it was in 2002), but it will be impossible to drive. I suppose today with all the gizmos they could produce a 2 stroke bike with more power than a 5 stroke and still be "easy" to drive.
i know Eskil Suter, he is a nice relaxed guy, the factor at Suter is amazing and the bikes are unreal. and the Welding department is just pure PORN. Speedbox who sells the bikes and moto GP bikes. people dont get how good his gear is and you can actually buy a Suter Clutch for most normal bikes which make a MASSIVE difference to them,
Well spotted. I found myself staring at the graphics on the to poke and trying to decipher it, then it was gone. I think you're right, but it's a lazy/confusing way to edit footage isn't it?
Let's face it . We've wrecked the planet probably beyond all return so why not go out with a bang and bring bikes like this back. 2 stroke fumes smell better than fresh air anyway.
Watching this must have been a destiny thing. This is the first video I’ve watched where I became the 1000th viewer. And my hero spoke Freddie Spencer whom I’ve met twice back when he was very much still riding. Another reason I watched is it has taken severe years and still incomplete my project bike Eddie Lawson homage bike ZRX1100.
O dinamômetro estava até tremendo! O trabalho de solda impecável! A nota é dez! Bom o clássico é ponteiras prateadas! Deve ser uma delícia pilotar essa moto! Parabéns mesmo! Trabalho fantástico! You got that right, Moto2 is a shit nothing class! It's time to go to the toilet grab some food and a drink after Moto3 and wait for the next class Motogp!! It makes my blood boil when I think about the 250cc class, some of the best racing motorbikes ever produced And now some frame with a sealed shitbox motor!!!
I had a 1992 TZ250 a few years back, really regret having sold it-wonderful thing to ride-but you had to be on your top game otherwise it was wasted and laughing at you......
Had an rz and rg. With a little better tires like they have now they might have been a tiny bit safer. Love to throw a leg over one of this man’s bikes
@@thepsychicpeach8425 its a very serious point, his centre of gravity is very high up, he's completely puffed out from riding it., Bite and snipe all you want...
I don't say this to be rude, but only because I've been there...If you love riding you OWE IT TO YOURSELF to do whatever it takes to lose all the extra pounds you are carrying around. The increased mobility and fitness is ASTOUNDING on a sportbike. Steak and potatoes and bread and beer is good. Being able to move around freely on a bike is better.
Wow, the Japanese factories keeping the engines and bikes that they made and paid for eh? How outrageous of them. And then effectively complains about Moto2 rules KTM seem ok with the rules, and MV and Honda The claims of running in the premier class and being good because of lightweight, higher cornering speed etc are often made. But people base this on track testing, not track racing. In a test you have the pace to yourself and can run as fast as you can but in a race you come up behind other machines which you have to get past...which you can't. It is amazing knowing that Eskil rides on my local Motocross track every now and then and how down to earth he is while doing it
Thanks for putting this together! There are surprisingly few ride reviews of the MMX500

Way cool having world champions Fast Freddie and Wayne give their insight. I swear if they let me test ride that thing I would steal it!

Don't worry - it's NOT a £2m bike - most of that is R&D cost. It you bin it, they'll only charge you £100k to rebuild it...... 😜
