As someone who went to film school and had several semesters in lighting, I really appreciate how you explain the warmth and coolness of light and how it affects people’s mood and appearance. 🖤
Thank you so so much! I know it can be a bit of a ‘dry’ subject to talk about; but I know the people that really want to know about it are the ones that will be willing to watch all the way through. I really appreciate it 🤍
DD comes to the rescue. This video needs to be mandatory watching for electricians (most have no idea about design and various lighting aesthetics) they know how to wire up a place and that’s it.
Awe thank you so much! I know it’s a very niche topic that’s quite dry - but hope it reaches enough people to know the difference on lighting and bulbs 🥰
Thank you so so much! I’ll add some more in. I love dry humor 🤣 I know there’s a lot of information to digest about lighting but I hope this helps people
I recently moved into a home that was completely kitted out with daylight Kelvin everywhere. So ghastly. I chose 2700K, and am in the process of switching everything. I did make the mistake of too high of lumens in the bedroom, but have now switched those out. Next will be the kitchen can lights to 2700 and high dimmable lumens. Make sure you use the right bulbs for dimmable vs non-dimmable, otherwise you could get flickering lights. That was another problem I inherited from the previous owner.
Smart bulbs should be mandatory by now. While the need for rgb bulbs is dubious at best, being able to change both the lumen and kelvin values of the bulb at whim is priceless.
Hello! Love your content! I am remodeling a shared bathroom with a 72" vanity. I need your professional opinion about Lighted Smart Mirrors. One 60-inch one or do you suggest tow mirrors with lights in between?
you said don't mix two temp in one space. So what about open concept? use something between warm and soft white for consistent temp? But for which living space? What number would that mean for each space? What should you light living/dining and what should you light the kitchen with? please help thank you. Another question my designer is saying to do strip lighting and I find it not elegant looking. Are spots (recessed of course ) with a pretty pendent good enough to light up the space? Could you help pls
For living room. I need “ ethereal” . I love whites , off whites and powder blues or perhaps other lite pastels. I cannot stand brown in any form or combination with other mixes of paint color. Yes, I may want “ cozy” corner or “ cozy” in other rooms, but I need ethereal, maybe even spa-like or heavenly, as some may call it , when enter a room that is spacious and you exhale and feel “ Ahhhhhh”. Any lighting or other suggestions? Thank you
So happy I could help! I know someone would be searching this kind of information 🤍 I’ll update my Amazon list! But you can access it through the link in my bio 💪🏼
Great and very informative video DD. I learned a fair bit on the lumens thankyou, I prefer lights on dimmers when possible, the sconces in my living room are on dimmers and are so nice for getting the light just right. I don't think I've ever seen anything but 2700, or 5000 K bulbs, so I guess I'm safe form being hauled off to jail (athough it might be fun to see you try . . . ;) ) I do have a couple light fixtures with mixed bulbs in them in my workshop, but I'm after what light works best for me to see things 'proper' out there.
Baby steps! I’m glad Atleast I was able to help! And yes dimmers are an absolute game changer for any light fixture and something I always recommend for any of my designs, including renovations! Sets the mood perfectly! My only comment in general is to make sure that the light fixtures are “dimmable” not all of them are these days it seems which I feel like should be a standard
@@mrphoenixgrey given that a stupid question is easier to answer than a stupid mistake is to fix, what do you mean by 'dimmable fixtures'? I did have to have the dimmer for my LR sconces replaced with one suited for led bulbs.
Unpopular opinion: I HATE yellowy lighting. I always go for 3K-3.5K because I only like daylight bulbs, the warm pink walls in my rooms gives the glow that I want without it leaning yellow.
I found it to be a very controversial topic these days with it split 50/50 with lighting. I would reccomend having a lower K rating atleast in a bedroom to help you fall asleep easier, but 3-3500 is still good for the rest of your house for a nice neutral layer or light
Sorry Daddy Missed a week! I’m back, and have so many upcoming videos filmed! Let me know what other topics I should cover ❤

I know it’s a very dry video in terms of education, but I’m hoping the right people that need to see it, do 🤍
This is the best explanation of warm and dark I’ve ever heard. 😍
Yay! I know it’s a pretty dry subject but i tried to make it as fun as entertaining as possible 🤍
Thanks Daddy, you never disappoint!
You are so welcome! Thanks for watching 🤍
this is the best education on lighting. I am saving this one as a reference to come to it every time I need to !!!!!! thank you very much

Such a great informative video! I have also been to a hardware store and been told to purchase something that never worked for my space :(
I learn so much from you! Thank you!❤
Trust me, we need those dad jokes from you in today's world! This vid was super informative btw!

Excellent vidéo Phœnix, very informative, I ll feel like a pro going into my light store now!

I couldn’t agree more. Yes they are more expensive, but the use and customization that come with them make it so worth it in my opinion!
@@mrphoenixgrey definitely. Prices are falling every year. And you only need to buy them like one every 20-30 years? Definitely worth it.
Can you make a video showing how to and different options for lighting plants?
I liked this mainly because of the Ron Swanson reference and the name of the channel. Iconic
I loved the jokes!!! Such great information. I'll come back to this video again and again until I get It right. Thank you for all you do.
That means so much! Thank you 🤍 and so happy I can help

Hello from across the world! And thank you so much for watching 🤍🤍
This exactly what I was looking for. Do you have Amazon links to bulbs and battery operated picture lighting? Great video man.

Great insight. Thanks . I got it!
Thank you design daddy.
THANK YOU!!!! I NEEDED THAT
You’re so welcome! So happy to help
Daddy is back
i missed him last week.
What about dimmers? How do they effect the K & L?
I’m back! We had some changes last week so weren’t able to post, but we’re up and running again :)
It's all good,@@mrphoenixgrey. You just make Sunday better, is all, so i'm glad you're back 🙂
@@conniesauvageau7420they decrease the L. they don’t change the K with most LEDs. they decrease it with incandescents (which i personally love)
❤❤❤
Thanks for watching 🤍

Smart bulbs mean smart home which means you are being monitored. Your TV and computer are watching you too. I for one, avoid smart devices when I can
Too much talking...not enough images. When will some you tubers learn, we switch off after 3 mins continual blah blah blah....life's short.
This video came too late for me
Oh noooooooo! I’m so sorry! At least for next time you’ll be good
