Sophie I don’t think you understand how grateful I am that you have a UA-cam Chanel. You give us so much in sight, tips, sources etc that other people would make us pay for. Thank you thank you thank you. I wish nothing but bountiful success for you, your family and all your team ❤
I loved the chat with Anthony so much. Really helpful tips and advice from him especially how to apply lighting in your home if you’re on a budget. Your conversation together was so warm and engaging, it really is a testament to you Sophie as a boss that your employees love and respect you and how far you’ve come as a presenter because I know at the start you would always say you’re nervous but now you’ve become a natural at this. A woman of many talents! You should be proud of how much you’ve accomplished 💖
Thank you! I was so happy to have Anthony on the channel, we had a lot of laughs recording this. He is full of great and practical tips. We have worked together as well as Brett for nearly 10 years now! I have a wonderful team and am very proud of them ☺️
Very important topic. When I built my house 15 years ago (with 3 small children) I was overwhelmed by the amount of work and thoughts that had to be done in advance. I had no interior designer and did all by myself. And despite of very fews things, I have regretted and could have done better, the lighting is one of them. And I think one day there has to be a revision, thanks for the inspiration.
Well said! Thanks for watching. It can be overwhelming the sheer amount of decisions and difficult to capture everything if you don’t do this day in day out with a whole team so don’t feel bad!
Hands down one of the best and most informative videos available on lighting! Sally and Anthony provide so much helpful, next level information. I have Sally’s Inspired By Light book and am learning something new on each page. Sophie, thank you for making your very high end projects so relatable; and providing insight and resources for us. I’ll be watching this video many times. If possible, I’m very interested to learn how the hidden lighting is done. For shelving or on walls, what lights do we use and how it is installed would be so helpful and much appreciated. Your videos are so well done and you have provided lots of inspiration. Thank you and please keep up the great work! ❤
This is awesome. Thank you Sophie. Lighting architecture is sometimes overlooked, thought about afterwards. This shows how essential, and how dramatic it can be.🙏🏽✌🏽
Gosh, this was the best. Thanks so much Sophie, Anthony, Ollie and Sally. I love how warmly you all come across and the information is just so useful ❤
A big thank you to Sally and Anthony for their time and expertise. Such an interesting and useful topic. Sophie, your kitchen is absolutely beautiful and I always look forward to all of your posts. I learn something from each of them. Thank you for including us in your adventures.
A fabulous video, thank you Sophie! We always enjoy working with you on your stunning projects, and it was fantastic to welcome your team to the London Showroom!❤✨
I love ur channel. This was a master class in lighting. It’s funny, in design school they didn’t lean into lighting design which is a shame. Lighting really fully realizes the architecture and design of a space. 🙏
This was such an informative vlog on a hot topic that is very often overlooked, packed with insider tips , your Q&A with John Cullens Creative Director Sally Storey was amazing, it would be brilliant Sophie to see you put Q&A to more leading industry experts in their fields in future episodes. Anthony is a natural in front of the camera more cameos please from him 🤗💫
Glad you enjoyed it! And yes that’s something I said to Ollie after we finished this one is that I will interview more experts! Let me know what area of expertise you’d like to learn more about next ❤️
So glad to have a place to debate these kind of questions! I agree with both Sophie and Anthony about the shower niche. I think that an LED strip is good for a long niche and a spot light is great for a smaller niche. And kudos to Anthony for debating his boss with such grace. Also speaks to the great culture in Sophie’s team!
Thanks Anna- we all really respect each others opinions in the team- debate and second opinions can only strengthen a design. I value the input from all our team- hire the best and then let them do what they do best! ☺️❤️
I love your design tips. I'm a real fan of chinoiserie. It would be great if you did an episode with your team on how you choose chinoiserie for a project e.g. colors, textures and how the chinoiserie flows with your furniture.
Perhaps it might be a lot to ask for but seeing the SP Team’s homes would be really interesting and engaging content! To understand their constraints and how they manage their own interiors, perhaps on a budget, would be very insightful. Cudos to Anthony for sharing that picture of his living room!

Excellent topic & very timely! Thank you!! We are having quite a bit of work done to our home, and wanted to add some lighting redesign to the rooms we are updating. I had my partner watch this video with me and this helped him visualize what I was trying to explain to him. Again, thank you!!!!!
Love your channel and you can’t imagine how much I’ve learnt about interior design from just watching your videos. My question about lighting design for the living room in particular….how does one know where to position lights like down lights and spotlights on the ceiling before the layout of furniture/decor is finalised? I would have loved some sort of lighting illuminating my coffee table and a few side tables but unfortunately the exact furniture layout was determined after the Reno was completed. How do the experts do it? Thank you 😊😊😊
Thank you, that is lovely to hear. The tricky thing with lighting is you have to do it so early but you have to know your furniture layout and even where you are putting art in order to get it right. So we design everything then design the lighting before the work commences on site.

If you use 2700 kelvin LED bulbs it gives you that same warm white and is much more environmentally friendly.
