It looks awful from the outside
Incredible interior design elements entombed in a decrepit cliche of British domestic "architecture". The poisonous chartreuse trim doesn't provide enough distraction to redeem the hackneyed look of the building.
Could that corny checkered carpet on the stairway be any more ridiculous? I doubt it. Quirks do not equal innovation. Disappointing "House of the Year", as usual.
Come back in 15 years- maintenance nightmare
I have probably watched every episode of Grand Designs and have seen very beautiful houses but this is by far the ugliest house ever chosen as house of the year. Poor Kevin had to praise it as something special.
I'm not with this design, sorry!
Absolute eyesore inside and out (but not the worst on that score for sure). Cold, clinical. Not a home. Sticks out like a "carbuncle" (to borrow term) in the Dorset countryside. Yet another case of King's New Clothes as Kevin pretends to love it in his usual pretentious style. Give him a bit of unfinished concrete or a piece of building site OSB and some scaffolding and he's happy to declare it "inspired" in his oh-so predictable way.
