  • This is the eighth sequence in the Cawston Remembers project.
This old Victorian water tower has been converted into a house by former pupil of Cawston College, David Forster. This conversion has been featured on Channel 5's "Build a New Life in the Country". David talks about how he came to buy the tower, and the conversion work he has undertaken over the last ten years.

Just watched this episode on Build A New Life In The Country when David first started working on the tower. So nice to see it completed with an additional annex added. Fabulous job!!

Me too! Couldn't believe how much he sounds like John Gater from the Time Team show.

What an amazing achievement David Forster ! I have been to the tower and stayed there and it is even more spectacular now than it was when this video was made. stunning and awesome are two words to describe it....a brilliant engineer indeed to have turned this ancient monument into a beautiful, unusual and restored Vintage/Victorian home.....unlike any other in the world I would say. Yeah me too and the fact the show ended before he completed it brought me here.

I see from David's comment in the other UA-cam video

that a separate structure was later added and there are further channel 4 episodes too.

BBC has a show called "build a life in the country" that features this structure as he is remodeling it.

@@pacob4728 I just watched the BBC programme.ua-cam.com/video/pQJLUT_JHe0/v-deo.html I'm so glad to see the project was finished in great style with the Annex. Hats off to you David - few people in the world have the vision, skills and perseverance to design and execute this extraordinary project. Hope and your family enjoy it for years to come.

The episodes for this tower have recently been on Channel 5 again, and it's the first time I've seen them, so thanks for this update, but who on Earth put that music over the top while they're still talking?! That's just damn irritating!
