    My English is quite poor and rusty, but the kindness, humanity and sympathy that Johnny transmits goes beyond all barriers. plus, of course, the great, great MASTERY of him. Thank you very much Johnny. hugs from Spain.

    I just started studying his style of playing and teaching, very knowledgeable, highly (obviously) talented and sincere in helping a struggling guitarist like myself achieve their goals, thank you Mr. John H.

    I LOVE this classic tune! We've been mashing it up in E with Jimmy Reed's 'Big Boss Man' together into a employment freakout medley.

    This man is exactly like this in person as he is in these videos. I met him by accident outside a club in Nashville and helped him load up on a smoke break, didn't really have an idea of who he was but then I saw him on stage and was blown away.

    Dude is unbelievably fast and nimble as a cat. I grew up not liking country. It was sorta mandatory when we went with my step-dad to listen to those sappy, slappy whiskey drenched standards. The only break being for news radio. I was a rock-'n'-roll and rap kid and quickly graduated to Heavy Metal and Punk/ Hardcore, onward, upward harder and faster. + admittedly nothing upsets parents more than loud music. lol Deep down I always loved blues guitar and some of the country, crazy, advanced hand movements and picking on the upbeat songs. They play so unbelievably fast that they put many very fast metal musicians to shame. I saw Mr Hiland play and now that I do my own thing music wise. I was immediately drawn to his very fast chicken picken and could see how everything I had learned from was heavily influenced by the very technical/ proficient guitar styles of country folk and I enjoy using some of the things I forgot. Thank you for refreshing and adding to my skill-set. You sir are a magnificent musician, Johnny Hiland! Keep on picking and grinning.. You are so blessed!

      GCKelloch yeah maybe, or maybe its his signature pickups, hard to tell on a utube video, i have a ten year old carvin ae 185 w a be neck ,sure dosent seem soft ?.. what type of guitar and amp do you use? I have several amps but im in love w my bassbreaker 007 and my american pro tele w the tim shaw pickups, cant put it down, lol

    • @dangreving1094
      @dangreving1094 6 років тому

      GCKelloch ok man cool.. so it sounds like you know how to order the perfect kiesel giutar , ( not kidding) . So im a strat player cause i love that bluesy jangly , you know umm ( cry of love highway jones) kinda sound, ive been playin 40 + years but i am still learning wood combos,
      So what amp guitar combo do you use, and what style do you play? ..im looking for ideas for my next guitar build. I want a straty sounding strat ya know , but still has the stand on it power, I like the bright spanky sound also, I get what you mean about the resonance of the wood combinations, for sure .

    • @dangreving1094
      @dangreving1094 6 років тому

      GCKelloch hey thanks for the phd level of understanding wood and its sonic properties you have crazy knowledge, almost to much, enough to cause decision constapation lol. I was mostly thinking kiesel because you can order a variety of wood combinations and the cf rods in the neck will add stability because here in southerm wisconsin we have wild temp and humidity swings so alot of nights i have to go thru several guitars to find one thats (in play )so to speak, I have heard many great things about warmoth and i have no problem with assembly i work on guitars all the time, and i have made 3 guitar bodies with mixed results. Oh you may get a kick out of this story my first body was back in the 90s i made a tele body from 3 greasy 2x4s in my garage and bolted on a jap strat neck all maple stock strat pups, painted it with automotive urethane paint, and it had this dark dull sound i just could never adjust out ( your probably thinking duh!). I sold it to a friend who broke it then gave it back, so next i made a thin s series style body from 3 pieces, a white oak center block and douglas fur sides and put that neck back on it w carvin pickups and this guitar sounds great, balanced and fast. I recently seen a 2500. Dollar tele with a pine body ( wtf ) i dont get it , from my experience that would work like a concrete airplane. I see these guys on here arguing over weather wood has any effect at all on tone, from now on i will refer them to you for an education. Thanks again for the detailed explanation i do understand everything just never thought about it in such detail. Have a great day! Dan

    Hey thanks i checked out the videos , wow those are some beautiful guitars, and yeah there is a definite difference in the make up of wood combos , seems it may be hard to go wrong if you buy quality?... then again my friend bought a zebra wood ibanez acoustic it looks awesome but is a dead sounding p.o.s. , whenever he brings it around i change the strings and it still doesn’t ring. , I really love a maple fingerboard my second fav is ebony not a big fan of rs wood maybe that is a shallow astetic thing in my eye. Also the shallow v shape by fender is my choice for guitar neck shapes. , oh shit i hit the send button on accident. Sorry lol.
