For a wrench organizer I just use 12 gauge Romex. Roll them around a socket in a coil style I use one for stubby & smaller wrenches. I use two coils of Romex for bigger wrenches best customizable & take least amount of space 👍
I have magnet grids in all of my drawers to keep things from sliding/moving. Being an industrial tech, my box is constantly moving around the plant and this seemed to make the most sense.
Occasionally but not often. Metal dust is a constant so everything gets wiped down after use. Half the plant is a fab shop so there's a few different areas with heavy metal debris/dust
I am the son of a carpenter and he loved working with wood, making desk, tables, bird toys, cabinets etc etc. When I was younger I never paid much mind to him and he taught me some things but mostly me and my dad where like Oil and Water we never mixed so I just avoided the subject. Since my dad passed away I have been thinking of the past, the small things he showed me and taught me and figured know what? I am going to buy some wood working tools and start the hobby, I didn't spend nearly as much,. only about $350 not counting the desk but it works for my small place, I have made some coasters, cutting boards, picture frames spoons and such, nothing major but I find the passion he had I think and oddly been enjoying it, hoping one day I can upgrade everything in a bigger place and make more fun stuff! So good video and nice tools one day I'll increase my haul lol.
That’s what it’s all about man. You don’t realize at the time that the old man is teaching you so many things. I’m happy to hear that you’re taking up wood working. Great hobby and even better it honors your dad. It helps to keep his spirit alive. Tools come in time. Most of us spend our whole lives acquiring the tools we have. Very few are lucky enough to have the finances to buy every tool. Keep at it and you will be rewarded in the end. Thanks for sharing.
Nice to see what a guy has been using and what's been holding up. Id like to see more tool box tours in the future. Snap on ratchets and pliers are worth their weight in gold and I will continue to buy them. My go to pliers is the 8" long nose with cutter and side fastener (196ANCF). My Knipex equivalent isn't even close in comparison. Keep up the great content!

An ounce of experience beats a pound of data in that situation, if you've been using a favorite stick for years and know with X impact that once they stop wiggling the torque wrench just BARELY adds any, send it. But making a video on it we thought was important for anyone picking up a set for the 1st time trying to find shortcuts.
Haha. If you can don't think about it. 😂 In reality spending money on tools doesn't really bother me compared to a lot of other things. Like car tires. I like to ruin tires and I hate buying them.
I've got 6 different Icon ratchets. My 25-inch 1/2 drive flex-head was missing the washer, and it caused it to want to bind under pressure. I just took it back and traded it for one that i knew had it. Sometimes, one gets through quality control without the washer. They traded it for me with no questions. But i did check it before leaving the parking lot. To check it, put a deepwell socket or 3 inch extension on it and push to one side while you rotate the mechanism. If it's missing the washer, it's noticeably harder to turn. Other than that, you can just remove the plate, and the washer is located directly between the retaining plate and the anvil gear. I now check every ratchet I buy from Harbor Freight. They're great ratchets as long as they've left the factory correct. BTW, the Icon deadblow hammers are USA made. The Icon hammers, punches, and prybars are all USA made by Mayhew. I believe there's a few other tools of theirs that are as well.
Thanks for all the Info. Mine did have that washer. I cleaned everything and oiled it and can't seem to recreate the issue I was having. Good to know about the Icon Hammers. I did notice that the punches looked exactly like the Mayhews. I assume the punches are lifetime warrany too? I know you pay more for the Icon name but with the warranty I feel like a guy comes ahead. I ruin the 3/32 punch all the time.
I have the Ernst Wrench Pro organizers. They have magnets on the bottom. They saved me a lot of space in my wrench drawer. I was able to get my Tekton SAE and Metric wrenches in the same drawer. Ernst makes the wrench organizers for Tekton.
I dunno what kinda vehicles you work on, but please get a hood prop tool and the hood strut clamps for your own safety. I have the lisle one, it doubles as a brake pedal depressor. For 1/2" long flex head ratchet, gearwrench 120xp for sure. Olsa tools also sells a really nice one that's "made in usa", believe it is identical to one that was sold by SK. I personally have the snappy 1/2" 2ft flex head, but only grab it when I need maximum ugga duggas, otherwise I grab the old 120xp flex head.
Funny you say that. I work on old vehicles mostly. Say 80's to 20's and I was just working on a car and the dang hood wouldn't stay up so I grabbed an old 2x4 to prop it up. Then I realized man just spend the money and get a hood prop. I did end up buying that Lisle one. Works great and even better I can retire my old broken broom handle that I use to press the break pedal.
The wright grip wrenches are really nice for sure, I actually have the full polish set. You should also check out the William's USA supercombo wrench set. Those things are straight "beef" and are a nice long pattern too. I absolutely them!! I think you'll really like the ernst/tekton wrench organizer. It works very very well, it's very quick and easy to set up and customize too. They are pretty fairly priced as well. They organize your wrenches well and make them look beautiful. I used those for the longest until I tried the alien space saver wrench organizer. I have now switched over to all alien space saver. They are a little bit more of a pain to set up and sometimes you have to trim the bar stock to get them to fit in your drawer because they are a set length. They are definitely not as quick and simple to set up as the tekton/ernst organizer, and take a little time to get everything just right and set up, but they are freaking phenomenal!! There isn't a better space saving wrench organizer on the market. When I switched to them, I was able to fit about another 30 wrenches or so in the same exact drawer I was using the ernst/tekton wrench organizer in. They seriously maximize your space like no other organizer I've ever used. It's insane!! I use the ernst pliers rack for all my pliers. It has a rubber grip on the bottom inside part that your pliers sit on, so they don't slip and slide. I really am diggin the content though bro. Keep up the good work!!
I actually have a full set of the Williams Supercombo's. I'm also a fan of them. They are definitely great for the price. I've been looking at that alien brand. I liked the way they work. I just don't know much about them. As a guy that tried them both I'm going to take your advice and order the alien space savers. If they work great for you I'm sure they'll work great for me. I use the tekton/ernst modular wrench racks in my box (I’m a dealer tech) and I love them. I use the tekton/ernst wrench grippers and wrench rolls when I’m on the go. I recommend them all man
Contrary to what one might think, Mexico makes really good quality parts and the anti vibe are great, worth the money for sure. The homie in Mexico making it might be on a sick one but that part gonna be quality, trust that. 😂😂 12:04
Not knocking Mexico quality. I just prefer to buy American if I can. With that said I probably will buy the Anti-vibes because they're pretty well respected in the industry.
Those drillbits that have stepbits on the end are the bomb, if you get it off the Matco truck and can warranty them when they break. Streamlights are great and I have 2 but the best pocket light is the nebo pl500. 50$ bright as hell with a dead even beam spread. Telescopes and has a magnet on the end so I can stick it to the frame of the truck I’m working on. It’s also usb-c rechargeable so no more buying batteries. Love the videos please keep making them

Whoa. Matco warranties the norseman drill bits? So if one goes dull you can just break it and warranty the thing? Damn, seems like Matco would be losing money there. Great to know
@@TwoTurtlesAndAWrench yes all of them except for the skinny row. Those are bound to break and Matco knows it so those you’ll have to cough up 25$ or so if you snap one. But the 1/2” through 17/64” bits are all under lifetime warranty

I always enjoy seeing other people's toolbox set ups. Makes me realize how odd my setup truly is. I work on Brunswick A2 pinsetters. They are 100% SAE. An 18" ratchet on the machines I work on would be borderline useless. Don't even have 1/2 drive in my box. 1/4 and 3/8 drive exclusively. My go to ratchet is the Matco Eighty8 which is 8-3/4". Have a few Koken 1/4 body 3/8 drives that I use frequently as well. My longest ratchet is 12" and it's barely ever used.
It's good to hear from people that just don't work with auto's. I like seeing and hearing a different perspective on things. Is that Matco a 1/4". I would like to update my 1/4" drive ratchets to something with a finer tooth.
@@TwoTurtlesAndAWrench Yea. I have Matco's in 3/8 and 1/4. Koken is a solid choice for 1/4 drive as well. Tone out of Japan makes a good 1/4 drive as well.
I have to agree channellock seems like they've been slipping on quality. Prices are up everywhere and it seems like they're cutting corners to stay in the same price bracket they've always occupied that's more casual/DIY friendly. I appreciate that, but the last 3017 I bought came out of the package absolutely covered in metal shavings and the finish was so rough it felt like dragging my fingers across sandpaper. They're 8" USA made long nose pliers for under $20 so I understand cutting corners where it matters a little less, but it's just a damn shame to see the quality of things degrading around me in real time.
Totally agree. Channellock’s use to be my go to. They still have a sentimental value but I don’t really use them much anymore. They just ride in my vehicles now.
@@Jethro2022 I had the widgets when they first came out and hated them. With that said my buddy just bought some and said he liked them. So I checked them out again and they are made a lot better now. I was pretty impressed
the long flex 1/2 ratchet, my opinion, get the snap on, on the meter I think a fluke 73 is sufficient for basic work, actually the klein you have is probably good enough
I really enjoyed the tour. I'm same with my tools. Lots of brands, but try to get quality stuff. Shame what happened to Sunex. Lots of good tools come from Taiwan.
I added the wave washer and super lube synthetic oil to my icons and now I grab them more than my snap-on and mac's. (Not sorry snap/mac superfans)I've only had them a few months but so far they've been great in an industrial setting so the jury is still out about long term.
@@TwoTurtlesAndAWrench i picked up a couple of the quinn ratchets in 1/4 and 3/8 a couple weeks ago to give them a go, too. not bad but i think they need some wear in time. i've actually swapped out my truck brands for icon and box store options about 6 months ago just as an experiment to see how similar they all are in real world applications instead of just torquing a bolt to death in a vise. see how everything goes after a full year of abuse.
Both of the Tekton soft face dead blow and ball peen dead blows are made in the USA. I haven't bought a set but I’d wager to say they're as good as the ICONs and the Tekton warranty is painless.
I'm sorry. The best thing is not to think about it. HAHA. I was hesitant about doing a cost breakdown but I figured it would add something to the tour. Now as I look around I'm like how much money do I have sitting in this shop. It makes me a touch sad but at least its money spent on tools and not worthless stuff.
I have that same long KoKen ratchet. I also have the standard 3/8 and 1/4 sets. Love em. Looking to get some nut grip sockets as well, but dang they’re expensive
@@TwoTurtlesAndAWrench i would prefer that too. As far as im aware you’re correct, don’t think they exist. But their standard ratchets have knurled handles that seem pretty nice. I’ve considered getting a set for my truck, but I’ve got a vintage SK-Wayne set that lives out there.
With that proto ratcheting wrench, you may be able to warranty it through your mac tools dealer. Warrantied a proto allen bit through my Mac tools dealer.
I believe Tekton is rebranding the Ernst modular wrench holders. I'm using the Ernst with magnets. Same shape as the Tekton but more colors and option of magnets. And I like estwing for a "persuader".
@@TwoTurtlesAndAWrenchI don't like the toolbox widgets or the EZ red magnet deals. The big plastic wrench holders are bulky. I have wrenches in the 40 mm+ and 1 1/4 +. There is no easy way to store those big wrenches. I found the wires the best almost free way of doing it.
Yeah I was way off on my estimate. Also I bought most of the tools years ago. I know I actually paid way less which is kind of a relief. But it doesn't take much to get a lot of money wrapped up in a box.
I have a bunch of old sunex socket sets 1/4, 3/8 and 1/2, have not checked on sunex in years, didnt know the went to china = bye sunex almost makes me cry
It is sad. The 1/2" Chinese sockets are holding up pretty well. I have heard that the 1/4 and 3/8 sockets quality have gone down hill. I myself can verify the Chinese made bits break rather easily
Malco shut down, but snap on bought them and are continuing production, heard old snapon vice grips were bad bad. Starrett was bought by venture capital, so theyre china now :(
The thing I'm upset with is the plant shut down in Dewitt. I am glad to hear Snap-on is still making a quality locking plier still. I did not know about Starrett. I'm not a machinist so I'm not in the loop but I do own quite a few Starrett micrometers for engine building. Sad times.

You definitely spent your money wisely. Take a look at the DieHard 1/2" 18" flex head ratchet. Their $20 cheaper than the IGOTCONNED with better fit and finish. I always liked the handles on the SK screwdrivers. A little fatter than the old Snap-on. It's a shame that SK was sold to China.
4:20.. the Gearwrench 120xp 1/2" is a really good ratchet..Capri makes a good 18" (extra long) and Tekton..if you don't want to spend a bunch of money for a long 1/2" ratchet ..Williams S52 USA made is a really good ratchet too..just my 2 cents ✌️ 24:00.. ICON...BEEF☝️

Ive been dicking around with organizing tools for the last year or so when I became a licensed tech. Tried Tekton, toolbox widget, 3D tool trays, Olsa, shit I’ve made on my own etc etc and they’ve all either been ok or haven’t worked too well. Finally gave in and ordered a Tool Grid starter kit off the Matco truck that should be in next week. Will keep you updated on how they work out. You can also get a real basic Fluke 101 meter for about $100 cad, had one as an apprentice and honestly for working on cars, it’ll do 99.9% of what you need but it doesn’t have either a backlight or a stand, or both can’t remember now which was a little annoying
Btw kids. Don’t get on the Trucks unless you want to spend money. 8mm-19mm skipping 9mm. Ratcheting adjustable flex wrenches with push button detent. $385

I do think they make other versions made outside of the USA. These were made in the USA when I bought them. I’m not sure if they still are or not. I bought them for the simple reason that they were made here.
$5,000? No way. I spent that just in the last 6 months. I think I have $5,000 in Milwaukee battery tools. Depends on the quality you want. I probably have at least $10,000 in just Snap on wrenches and other tools. I don't have a lot of snap on sockets, mostly Tekton and old craftsman ( USA made).

As far as wrench organizers go, the Tekton ones (the small-profile modular ones) I like best, since aside from allowing you to choose how many slots you want, they also allow you to _align_ them however you want; they save a lot of space since they're not forcing the set into a V-Shape. Also made in USA.
I'm looking for the Craftsman 1/2 with the thumb wheel they sell for 350$ on eBay they were 100$ original price and next year they are going up old Craftsman resaleing for more than original price and snap on resale for a little less than original price but never more and icon always resale for half the original price craftsman and willams are the only tool brands that resale for more than original price some tools resale for 10 times more than original price like the Craftsman double box end wrench set metric they sell for 800$-1000 and going up 100$ original price can you recommend any tools that are going up in resale ps I do sell my tools I like to collect and Craftsman is the choice of collector and going up in value
10k isnt bad. I Have drawers that have 10k into a single drawer and im not a professional. I dont drink or do drugs so i guess tools are the addiction i feed
It takes around $50,000 to fix most types of modern automobiles, with name brand. That's not including software subscriptions either. Meanwhile an electrician or plumber spends $1500 & makes twice as much money..
Oh my Lord.. $1000 for those Cornwell sets.. they're made in the same Taiwan factories as Harbor Freight, you can get those sets in Quinn branding for like $150. Quality is literally the same.
I have the cornwell blue power the Taiwan ones and they are way nicer than Quinn. Now they are like 8 years old so things could’ve changed. I can’t believe people actually buy Quinn in person. They look like Walmart sockets. Not for me.
@TwoTurtlesAndAWrench to my knowledge Cornwell is entirely rebranded from Taiwan. I've been using chrome Quinn sockets daily for years and they still look brand new. They're made by Apex just like Gearwrench etc etc
Which model would you recommend. I really only use DC voltage and ohms. Probably need an amp clamp too. But would probably use an external one just to get into tighter spots and have less bulk.

The wright grip wrenches are really nice for sure, I actually have the full polish set. You should also check out the William's USA supercombo wrench set. Those things are straight "beef" and are a nice long pattern too. I absolutely them!! I think you'll really like the ernst/tekton wrench organizer. It works very very well, it's very quick and easy to set up and customize too. They are pretty fairly priced as well. They organize your wrenches well and make them look beautiful. I used those for the longest until I tried the alien space saver wrench organizer. I have now switched over to all alien space saver. They are a little bit more of a pain to set up and sometimes you have to trim the bar stock to get them to fit in your drawer because they are a set length. They are definitely not as quick and simple to set up as the tekton/ernst organizer, and take a little time to get everything just right and set up, but they are freaking phenomenal!! There isn't a better space saving wrench organizer on the market. When I switched to them, I was able to fit about another 30 wrenches or so in the same exact drawer I was using the ernst/tekton wrench organizer in. They seriously maximize your space like no other organizer I've ever used. It's insane!! I use the ernst pliers rack for all my pliers. It has a rubber grip on the bottom inside part that your pliers sit on, so they don't slip and slide. I really am diggin the content though bro. Keep up the good work!!
I actually have a full set of the Williams Supercombo's. I'm also a fan of them. They are definitely great for the price. I've been looking at that alien brand. I liked the way they work. I just don't know much about them. As a guy that tried them both I'm going to take your advice and order the alien space savers. If they work great for you I'm sure they'll work great for me. I use the tekton/ernst modular wrench racks in my box (I’m a dealer tech) and I love them. I use the tekton/ernst wrench grippers and wrench rolls when I’m on the go. I recommend them all man

Those drillbits that have stepbits on the end are the bomb, if you get it off the Matco truck and can warranty them when they break. Streamlights are great and I have 2 but the best pocket light is the nebo pl500. 50$ bright as hell with a dead even beam spread. Telescopes and has a magnet on the end so I can stick it to the frame of the truck I’m working on. It’s also usb-c rechargeable so no more buying batteries. Love the videos please keep making them

@@TwoTurtlesAndAWrench yes all of them except for the skinny row. Those are bound to break and Matco knows it so those you’ll have to cough up 25$ or so if you snap one. But the 1/2” through 17/64” bits are all under lifetime warranty

I always enjoy seeing other people's toolbox set ups. Makes me realize how odd my setup truly is. I work on Brunswick A2 pinsetters. They are 100% SAE. An 18" ratchet on the machines I work on would be borderline useless. Don't even have 1/2 drive in my box. 1/4 and 3/8 drive exclusively. My go to ratchet is the Matco Eighty8 which is 8-3/4". Have a few Koken 1/4 body 3/8 drives that I use frequently as well. My longest ratchet is 12" and it's barely ever used.
It's good to hear from people that just don't work with auto's. I like seeing and hearing a different perspective on things. Is that Matco a 1/4". I would like to update my 1/4" drive ratchets to something with a finer tooth.
@@TwoTurtlesAndAWrench Yea. I have Matco's in 3/8 and 1/4. Koken is a solid choice for 1/4 drive as well. Tone out of Japan makes a good 1/4 drive as well.
The new Snap-On 100 tooth in 1/4 drive feel amazing as well. I just can warrant the price to upgrade.....
I'm leaning towards Koken or Snap on but I need to build up some funds first.
I have to agree channellock seems like they've been slipping on quality. Prices are up everywhere and it seems like they're cutting corners to stay in the same price bracket they've always occupied that's more casual/DIY friendly. I appreciate that, but the last 3017 I bought came out of the package absolutely covered in metal shavings and the finish was so rough it felt like dragging my fingers across sandpaper. They're 8" USA made long nose pliers for under $20 so I understand cutting corners where it matters a little less, but it's just a damn shame to see the quality of things degrading around me in real time.
Totally agree. Channellock’s use to be my go to. They still have a sentimental value but I don’t really use them much anymore. They just ride in my vehicles now.
I like my tool box widget stuff, very modular for the drawer.

Buy a 1/2” Matco replacement head and put it on a Pittsburgh breaker bar handle. I built mine for $60

the long flex 1/2 ratchet, my opinion, get the snap on, on the meter I think a fluke 73 is sufficient for basic work, actually the klein you have is probably good enough
I did end up getting the snap on 1/2”. I think my Klein is just broken. It doesn’t read right and I lost trust in it

I added the wave washer and super lube synthetic oil to my icons and now I grab them more than my snap-on and mac's. (Not sorry snap/mac superfans)I've only had them a few months but so far they've been great in an industrial setting so the jury is still out about long term.

i've actually swapped out my truck brands for icon and box store options about 6 months ago just as an experiment to see how similar they all are in real world applications instead of just torquing a bolt to death in a vise. see how everything goes after a full year of abuse.

Both of the Tekton soft face dead blow and ball peen dead blows are made in the USA. I haven't bought a set but I’d wager to say they're as good as the ICONs and the Tekton warranty is painless.

Try the titan flex head ratchets. I have all three and I love the 1/4 the others are ok but they heads are a bit bulky but I've been happy with them

I'm becoming a Koken fan. I just wish I could get the 72 tooth in a full polished handle. Maybe you can but I haven't seen it offered.

I have some old SK’s too. Classic ratchets. With Koken getting more popular maybe they will have some more options in the future.
With that proto ratcheting wrench, you may be able to warranty it through your mac tools dealer. Warrantied a proto allen bit through my Mac tools dealer.

I believe Tekton is rebranding the Ernst modular wrench holders. I'm using the Ernst with magnets. Same shape as the Tekton but more colors and option of magnets. And I like estwing for a "persuader".

@@TwoTurtlesAndAWrenchI don't like the toolbox widgets or the EZ red magnet deals. The big plastic wrench holders are bulky. I have wrenches in the 40 mm+ and 1 1/4 +. There is no easy way to store those big wrenches. I found the wires the best almost free way of doing it.

I have a bunch of old sunex socket sets 1/4, 3/8 and 1/2, have not checked on sunex in years, didnt know the went to china = bye sunex almost makes me cry
It is sad. The 1/2" Chinese sockets are holding up pretty well. I have heard that the 1/4 and 3/8 sockets quality have gone down hill. I myself can verify the Chinese made bits break rather easily

The thing I'm upset with is the plant shut down in Dewitt. I am glad to hear Snap-on is still making a quality locking plier still. I did not know about Starrett. I'm not a machinist so I'm not in the loop but I do own quite a few Starrett micrometers for engine building. Sad times.

You definitely spent your money wisely. Take a look at the DieHard 1/2" 18" flex head ratchet. Their $20 cheaper than the IGOTCONNED with better fit and finish. I always liked the handles on the SK screwdrivers. A little fatter than the old Snap-on. It's a shame that SK was sold to China.
Good to know. Yeah the SK thing upsets me especially when you have to warranty the tool.
4:20.. the Gearwrench 120xp 1/2" is a really good ratchet..Capri makes a good 18" (extra long) and Tekton..if you don't want to spend a bunch of money for a long 1/2" ratchet ..Williams S52 USA made is a really good ratchet too..just my 2 cents ✌️

Ive been dicking around with organizing tools for the last year or so when I became a licensed tech. Tried Tekton, toolbox widget, 3D tool trays, Olsa, shit I’ve made on my own etc etc and they’ve all either been ok or haven’t worked too well. Finally gave in and ordered a Tool Grid starter kit off the Matco truck that should be in next week. Will keep you updated on how they work out. You can also get a real basic Fluke 101 meter for about $100 cad, had one as an apprentice and honestly for working on cars, it’ll do 99.9% of what you need but it doesn’t have either a backlight or a stand, or both can’t remember now which was a little annoying

I do think they make other versions made outside of the USA. These were made in the USA when I bought them. I’m not sure if they still are or not. I bought them for the simple reason that they were made here.

$5,000? No way. I spent that just in the last 6 months. I think I have $5,000 in Milwaukee battery tools. Depends on the quality you want. I probably have at least $10,000 in just Snap on wrenches and other tools. I don't have a lot of snap on sockets, mostly Tekton and old craftsman ( USA made).

As far as wrench organizers go, the Tekton ones (the small-profile modular ones) I like best, since aside from allowing you to choose how many slots you want, they also allow you to _align_ them however you want; they save a lot of space since they're not forcing the set into a V-Shape. Also made in USA.
I think that's the route I'm going to go. The Tekton's seem to be the best thing for me.

I'm looking for the Craftsman 1/2 with the thumb wheel they sell for 350$ on eBay they were 100$ original price and next year they are going up old Craftsman resaleing for more than original price and snap on resale for a little less than original price but never more and icon always resale for half the original price craftsman and willams are the only tool brands that resale for more than original price some tools resale for 10 times more than original price like the Craftsman double box end wrench set metric they sell for 800$-1000 and going up 100$ original price can you recommend any tools that are going up in resale ps I do sell my tools I like to collect and Craftsman is the choice of collector and going up in value

Oh my Lord.. $1000 for those Cornwell sets.. they're made in the same Taiwan factories as Harbor Freight, you can get those sets in Quinn branding for like $150. Quality is literally the same.
For the mini-sledge, grab a one-piece forged Estwing. USA for like $30 and will last you for life.

Which model would you recommend. I really only use DC voltage and ohms. Probably need an amp clamp too. But would probably use an external one just to get into tighter spots and have less bulk.
