- In this video watch Graz and Andrew take a stack of quarters, heat them up and smash them into fishing lures using the ancient japanese technique called "mokume gane"
Mokume Gane is a Japanese metalworking procedure which produces a mixed-metal laminate with distinctive layered patterns, as well as that laminate itself. Mokume-gane translates closely to "wood grain metal" or "wood eye metal" and describes the way metal takes on the appearance of natural wood grain.
Will they succeed?
Will they catch anything with the lures they make?
Will they get sea sick?
watch the video to find out!

Cool project. Next time you make mokome, wait for the quarters to "sweat" in the forge. Makes it fuse much easier and will be a lot easier to work at the anvil.
Fish on, Ler LaLonde!
Is this place still open? How do I join the maker space? I can't find any links to the people that run it.
wait, so which of the 3 grabbed more fish? is the caster-baiter superior? i need to know
gewwwwddd times
You actually didn’t need to weld them together. The hammer welding, you did when you heated them and repeated stuck it combining the molecules into a single unit, is all you needed to do.
So is Graz selling these now too? 😉
nah, he uses his change from his paper route to make them :-)
@@NarwhalLabs 😂😂 Still using his BMX I'm sure....

No no no, those are fly fishing lures made with authentic Graz Makes beard hair.
Nice work. I'm only disappointed in that, we didn't get to see the "wood grain" effect of this Japanese technique. It was shiny, sure, but I wanted to see what was advertised.
Ok, I'm trolling but that really would be cool to see 😃 did it get lost in the processing of the material?
Hell is a place for smiths who pound on cold iron.
Aren’t you disguising the quarters so they resemble a small fish? Seems pretty fraudulent to me.
