Colorful Minerals In This 1890s Nevada Copper/Silver/Gold Mine.

- While hiking in a well-known mining district, we came across a partially eroded shut mine portal. It was still open just enough that no digging was necessary to gain access to the underground workings. The colorful minerals we found inside were very fun to see.
This polymetallic replacement deposit was first discovered in the late 1800s and worked from 1904 to 1907. It was worked again from 1918 to 1921. The metals mined here were copper, zinc, silver, lead, and gold. The deposit was hosted in limestone.
The drifts were interesting to explore, and we found a cool Hercules blasting cap tin near an old vertical shaft.
We hope that you enjoy the video and appreciate you watching!
Here is another mine video that we think you will enjoy.
• Awesome Mine Explore!
Thanks!
Hi Bob. Thank you very much for your generosity. We certainly appreciate you!💰💰😊
@TomandJulieMineExploring hahaha I wish I could do more.
I'm a day late..Thank you, Tom & Julie..

Hi JD. Thanks for watching and commenting from Idaho. We appreciate it!👌😄
Well, there was certainly enough to keep your interest going in that one, eh?
Always a pleasure to see a new episode with you folks, *T & J!* 🙂
- Ed on the Ridge
Hi Ed. Yes, it's a nice little mine. Glad that you enjoyed it. Thanks for the nice comment. We appreciate it!👍😄
Hey you two, I looks like there was quite a bit of moisture in some of those drifts. thank you for the look, be safe, I will see you in the next one!
Hi Mick. Hope all is well with you. A bit of moisture, still pretty dry overall compared to the mines in wetter areas. We're spoiled that way. Thanks for watching 👍😄
@@TomandJulieMineExploring I made that assumption looking at the black timbers, ladders etc. Thanks again for the look.
Nice colorful mine. Thanks for taking us along. Take care of each other and stay safe.
Hi Ed. Yes, it's a nice little mine. You're welcome, and thank you for watching!👌😄
Good Morning!!! Love the mineral colors in this mine!
@ExploringCabinsandMines Good night, Dave. You must have overslept. Glad that you like the minerals.👍😄
another great adventure thank you Tom & Julie for sharing
Hi Jerry. Good to hear from you. Thanks for watching and commenting!👍😄
Awesome,Tom and Julie
Hi Dave. Glad that you enjoyed it. Thanks for the comment!👌😄
Thanks Julie and Tom!!!; )
Hi Richard. You're welcome. Thanks for the comment!👌😄
Amazing I love what you folks do
You bring me Happiness ❤❤❤
Hi Richard. Thanks for the nice comment. We appreciate it!👍😊
Hello Tom and Julie well this is a very colorful mine even though I'am colored deficient i see the colors but in differant shades then most people do.Any way i seen what looks like a drawing of a person standing must be just a natural formation in the rock at 5.26 on the right might look like maybe a native person to my eyes at least .I took a picture in a mining area by a water fall one time and got it enlarged and there was about 15 images of heads found along the rock edges human alien ghostly all kinds of different types but did not see things then ..Showed it to lots of people and asked them what they see.One was a group of 15 people and all seen it as well .I was watching the people as they looked boy did i get a large response.Thank you for the explore like i say never know what one will find take care .
Hi Case. Glad that you enjoyed the mine. Thanks for the interesting comment about the photo that you took. I will go back and look at the video at 5:26. You never know what you will find!👍
Fun explore. To bad you couldn't see where aluminum ladder went
Hi David. Glad that you liked the explore. The ladder was just hard enough to get to that you would want to be roped in for safety. The good news is that it's still there waiting for us if we want to go back. Thanks for the comment!👌😄
Thanks for today's video, Tom and Julie 👍
Hi Lloyd. You're welcome. Thank you for watching!👌😄
The history in this mine is so rich and fascinating.
Glad that you enjoyed the mine. Thanks for commenting.

That was a nice explore. Nice riveted air tank and a nice blasting cap tin. Did you ever find where the air was coming from? Thanks Tom and Julie!
Hi William. I agree about the tank and tin. Both were fun to see. Almost all mines have airflow going through them. Sometimes, it's coming in from an obvious shaft, and other times, it's coming from an open stope that we are unable to see. Bigger mines will have a dedicated air shaft or emergency manway. I'm not sure of the airflow path in this one. Thanks for the comment!👌😄
Thanks guys, nice video!
Hi Henry. You're welcome. Glad that you liked it, and thanks for watching!👌😄
cool mine, has everything in it. Quartz and quartzite - colorful stuff = gold. Iron veins = gold. Dull gray lead looking stuff...Golina = Silver. As always, the son of a geologist/miner. Stay safe.
Hi David. Glad that you liked the mine. It is quite a mineral rich area. Thanks for the geology report!👍😄
Boy that was a tight porthole.😮 It's not often you see aluminum ladder. I enjoyed the video and kept them coming!
Hi Eddie. You're correct about the aluminum ladder in an old mine. We've only seen a ew over the years and none as new as that one. Glad that you enjoyed the video. Thanks for watching!:👌😄🏓
An interesting mine for pondering geology. Like you said at the beginning seeing the vertical mineral chase. Those colors and strata with faults any which way were new to me.
The aluminum ladder was pretty new considering it has a ratchet hinge to fold it. It seemed to fit perfectly for that spot 👍🏼
The times I went off in my own little world were when I could imagine some kind of rig digging along the walls making those lines. Not drill holes and not looking like a pick ⛏️ made them, too straight and parallel. I look for stuff I guess 😂
Hi Rick. Thanks for the detailed comment. Another fun little mine with interesting mineral veins and colors. The ladder is obviously much newer than the rest of the mine. I can't imagine a mine explorer using it and leaving it there. It must have been used quite recently by someone looking for valuable metals. If you're talking about the lines that are seen in the thumbnail, they appear to be a part of the naturally formed mineral deposits.
Hope all is well in Minnesota. 👍😄
Wow what a cool🥶 mine that was a short one but a good one thanks julie 😇stay safe
Hi Gary. It's pretty cool in this one, all right. Some mines are like that, and others can be warm and humid. Thanks for commenting!😊
YES ! I DID ENJOY IT , AND THANK 'S FOR ASKING JULIE.
🌬️✨✨✨🙏
Hi John. Glad that you enjoyed the video. You're welcome, and thanks for watching!👌😄
Thank you 👍👍🇨🇦
You're welcome, Les. Thanks for commenting!👌😄
Well you were right about this being a Colourful mine and also agree about the agricultural way they mounted the piping etc, not real good ay even for them thar days !! but I guess they were in a hurry to get where they were going haha, take care and keep exploring Cheers
Hi Brian and Mary. Yes, some good colors again. It's pretty standard to use wire for the vent lines, which aren't terribly heavy. When they put the air and water lines up, too, it's dangerous to be around. Thanks for watching and commenting!👌😄
thank-you for a very colorful and interesting video , see you next time.
Hi Tony. You're welcome. Glad that you enjoyed it. Thanks for the comment!👌😄
Who Hoo We!!!!!!
Hi Cheyenne!👌😄
Lots of adit, little stope, it doesn't look like a money maker. Anyway, thanks again for providing one of the best little channels on youtube.
Hi Lorrin. You could be right about the profitability of this one. Thanks for the nice comment. We appreciate it!👌😄
Good Morning. Beautiful as always. Be safe & stay warm.
Hi SS. Glad that you liked the video. Thanks for watching and commenting!👌😄
Funny how I find something, I would never do, so interesting... LOL Maybe it is not so much the explore but rather the couple that are doing the exploring and how much they love it.
Hi Max. Thanks for the kind words. I don't think that you're alone in your thoughts about going in mines. I don't think that a majority of the people who watch us would follow us underground.👌😄
Greetings from Austria 🇦🇹 ! I wish I were in Nevada too right now cause it’s cold and dark winter right here.
Hello to you in Austria. It's nice this time of year here. Soon, it will be very hot. Thanks for watching. Hope you stay warm!👌😄
Yess!
Thank you!👌😄
good morning and good afternoon Tom and Julie from Bridlington
Good morning, Robert!☀️
Thanks for sharing!
You're welcome, Roger. Thanks for watching!👌😄
The vertical clearance was rather good for your explore. A great diversity in minerals. Those looked like fire hoses?Do they still ship dynamite in those wood boxes? Thanksfor sharing the adventure Tom and Julie.Stay warm and safe folks.
Hi Jake. Maybe they were repurposed fire hoses in there. Dynamite now comes in cardboard boxes. Lots of cool minerals here. Thanks for watching and commenting!👌😄
Nice little mine, not many artifacts but still great job. Be careful and bless you both
Hi Jimmy. It's always good to hear from you. Not too many artifacts here, although the cap tin was fun to see. Thanks for the comment and blessing. Hope you are doing well.🙏😄
Love the content, I'm like wow how could anyone take the risk and not take samples ?!! Especially with prices these days. But either way, I still love the videos.
R/Steve
Hi Steve. I never know if there are valid mineral claims on most of the mines that we explore. I don't want to be videoing myself claim jumping. Plus, I know how much work mining is and the amount of equipment that's necessary to make a go of it. Not only that, I'm retired. Thanks for the comment!👌😄
@TomandJulieMineExploring
Good all around, I just love all the videos, I'd never go in a mine you're braver than me !!
Lol 😅
You two stay safe !!
love your mine exploring videos
Thanks for the kind words!👌😄
Well, it's my two favorite Desert Rats again. Haha. How have you been? That was a fun explore, lots of colors, I find it interesting that the mine rail was left in so many of these mines. It must have been relatively cheap at the time. Oh, well. Good to see you again. And thanks for taking me along again. Please be careful in all you do. Till next time.
Hi Bob. We are both doing well. Thanks for asking. Yes, some good colors in this one. Most times, any of the rail that has a bend in it gets left, and only the straight pieces get removed and reused. You're welcome, and thank you for the nice comment. 👌😄
Nice adventure.
Thanks, Brad!👌😄
Pretty extensive mine. When ya going back to see what's down below?😊
Hi Richard. I think we have already been to the lower part of this mine in another video. I'm not 100% sure, though. I will look into it more. Thanks for watching!👌😄
Cool mine!!
@markattardo Hi Mark. Glad that you liked it. Thanks for commenting!👌😄
Thanks guys, can blasting caps do anything by themselves? 😊
Hi Linda. While I've handled blasting caps many times without any problems, I've heard that they pack a pretty powerful punch if accidentally detonated. I don't think you want them to be around too much heat or sparks. Thanks for the comment!👌😄
Another beautiful mine, i don't know how you find them! That ladder makes me wonder who had the claim in the last 50 years, do they keep records somewhere?
Hi Peter. It takes a lot of research and actual exploring to find good and at least somewhat interesting mines to explore. We visit an average of 5-10 mine workings for every video that we put out. I'm guessing that all the claim records are available. Thanks for watching!👌😄
👍👍😀
Thanks for watching, John!👌😄
Another great video! Have you ever found human remains in a mine
Hi Mike. We have seen a lot of bones in the mines over the years. Burro, deer, fox, rabbit, cat, birds, and others. No bones that I could identify as human, though. Thanks for the comment!👌😄
3:43 I thought you almost stepped on a frog near the middle of the crosstie!
Hi Larry. I looked and saw what you're talking about. There is a rock there that resembles a frog. I don't recall ever seeing a frog in these dry desert mines. Thanks for the comment!👌😄
Where was all the air flow coming from?
Hi Bruce. Some of the air was coming down the shaft that daylighted. There might have also been an open stopein there that we couldn't see. Thanks for the comment!👌😄
sounds like your running a reel to reel camera in the background...is that your light's cooling fan er what?
Hi Rob. That's just a noisy camera. Mine exploring is very hard on cameras that get dropped, dusty, dragged through small openings, etc. I'm on my fifth camera. I hope you enjoyed the video in spite of the film projector sound.
