I would strongly suggest start working & saving as soon as possible. I’m realizing this at 25 & understanding my youth is running out. I’m also realizing a lot of the world is not for me. The hardest things are always the best things for you. & your friends probably aren’t really your friends.
If you want more consistent work, get into an outside local. As a groundman waiting to get into the lineman apprenticeship I'm making 60 - 70k a year w/o overtime you just need a CDL (which is required for line apprenticeship) and a year of electrical work experience to set yourself apart from others on the books. Took me 2 months to get a call and I've been working 9 months straight ever since - IBEW local 71. If you are thinking of getting into the line apprenticeship, do it ASAP as there are a lot of people trying to get into the program right now.

There totally is! Most of the more experienced tradespeople are part of the baby boomer generation, a lot are becoming older and starting to retire/moving into teaching positions. Today's generation have been mainly taught that white collar work is one of the only viable options career-wise, so a lot of up and coming "workers" don't consider blue collar work, either that or they think it's beneath them / not want to get their hands dirty. I think it's a huge flaw in the education system for not teaching them thoroughly about the trade work force. But for that reason there is a big gap in the younger workforce in the trades and its only increasing, meaning more demand for younger workers

Yes. And bonus if you’re atleast somewhat competent and intelligent, you will absolutely excel if you’re smart. And you’ll do just fine if you aren’t.
For non union yes, for union you’ll just get extorted and still have to hunt for work. It’s a scam
