Great! I liked your shorter videos, sometimes it’s difficult to watch big videos, 10m I think it’s perfect
    Looking forward for the next

Yeah epic!!! So glad you like the shorter ones, I felt like the one I posted 3-4 weeks ago (25 mins) was too long and would have lost a lot of peoples attention, last few have been shorter which I hope is more digestable - totally understand and agree with what you're saying - I rarely watch anything 25 mins long haha 😂 - really appreciate the feedback!!! 🤙🙏

Thanks. BTW, I find the music really distracting without adding any benefit.

Thanks Ben. Another informative video. This series on the soft skills is really useful and a great reminder of a few key things to focus on, to help some of us continue to progress in this intermediate stage. I surf a lot of beach breaks in Port Stephens, NSW, where close-outs greet us most mornings 😉. So, the last part of this video was particularly relevant (trying to push through a partial close-out to keep in front of the section). I'm wondering if you have any guidance on techniques for actually achieving the acceleration in such incidences to drive through, or around, the white water to get back in front of it, when it starts to shut-down a little in front of you?
P.S. I quite like the music (but I find life is generally better with music). If anything, your whiteboard skills are a bigger distraction 😜 (just jokes, as I know it is not easy, and your scrawlings do add value in communicating the messages). In all honesty, I think a lot of us would be disappointed if the acoustic guitar went. A possible compromise could be to add subtitles (with all that spare time you have), so it can be muted and we still get the message...

Hey Tom! So stoked its helpful for you!
Yeah can definitely think about integrating your above points into a video! Really good thing to touch on especially for those of us with mainly beachies around haha
If you don't mind me asking (just very handy for me to have this feedback haha) with the music, whiteboard, and speaking is it all going a bit fast - would it be better to slow things down or simplify the points a bit more? I'm always trying to strike a balance between too much info but not limiting information either. Or is it simply the music and illustrations can be annoying haha and it would be more helpful to have myself just talking through things (or I could work on my artwork 😂) - definitely dont have to respond, but really appreciate the feedback!! 🙏🙏🤙

@@BenConsidine from my perspective, the last 4 videos with the whiteboard have progressively improved immensely, to the point where you're now hitting the mark pretty well. I feel you have struck the right balance in terms of pace, detail of information, background music and whiteboard illustrations of key points. For me, the whiteboard has been adding value to communicating the messages, especially these past few soft-skills videos where dynamic diagrams help to portray the points. In these cases, using the whiteboard is much better than if you were to try and verbally describe the concepts without the illustrative support of the whiteboard; we'd be lost! For other videos, the whiteboard may not add value (I'm sure you'll know when and where it is useful). If anything, you could maybe do with a slightly bigger whiteboard so you can fit the shoulder of the wave on there etc 😉 and it occupies a bigger part of the panned-out screen (although your zooming in on the whiteboard works really well anyway). You could edit through much of the text writing sections (headings etc), so you can take your time writing neatly (and spelling 😜) and we don't have to waste time just watching you write stuff. I notice you've already started doing this anyway. Good question about the amount of information and pace of delivery. Hard to find the sweet spot. The benefit of UA-cam videos is that we can pause, rewind and rewatch the material as much as we want, so the pace is not such a big issue for me. In terms of content/information, I personally could watch your videos for hours on end, trying to learn and absorb as much information as possible, especially when there are no waves. This has actually helped my surfing a lot over the past two years. However, I have also learnt that I should only watch one of your videos at a time, before then going for a surf and trying to implement/consider the content of that video (ideally a few surf sessions per video); otherwise it all gets lost and forgotten when in the surf. There's only so much one can take on board and try and work on. In this regard, I also find that 3 key take home points per video are probably the max before it becomes overload and things start to get lost or overwhelming when it comes to implementation. If anything, I try and focus on one thing each surf session (if I can). The challenge for you is the fact that you have surfers of all abilities tuning in and taking different things out of it. Some videos are on more fundamentals which were useful when I was a beginner and a simplified message is great, but less useful to me now. As we progress, then we start focusing on the details and the one percenters etc. As such, you'll never be able to please everyone, but I suppose mixing it up over time will enable people at a range of levels take something out of your videos. One approach could be to continue the "3 part" series concept, and progressively build upon the level of detail and technical ability with each part, from a fundamentals beginner Part 1, building to an intermediate Part 2 and then bringing it all together, finessing the details, in a more advanced final part (for example, this could work really well for nose riding, or cross-stepping, or turning). All easier said than done, I'm sure 😂. Anyway Ben, these are my thoughts. Sorry for chewing up space, but you did ask for feedback 😛. No doubt others will have different experiences and perspectives, but these are my own. Moreover, keep it up and thanks for so generously sharing your knowledge with us all 🤙🏽

P.S. for me, 10 to 15 minute video length is good. 15 minutes max in most cases.
