Nice touch to also have an image of a lightbulb (an iconic symbol of the DDR) in the 2nd stanza. From, what I understand; the sulphur vapor lightbulbs, used in the DDR, burn with dimmer light, but longer, than the mercury arc lightbulbs, used in the BRD, which, like in so many other Capitalist countries, were made short-lived on purpose, because money; which, in turn, gained a positive reputation for the DDR-lightbulbs for being made to last as long as possible. 💡
DDR anthem was intentionally written to match "The Song of the Germans" lyrics, that was the historical detail I found online.

I believe ( I have heard that it was supposed to but can not confirm) it was so that they both could be song intertwined for example (first verse of Das Lied Der Deutschen followed by the first verse of Auferstanden Aus Ruinen. As a German I would have much rather preferred just the East German anthem due to the fact of how beautiful it is and how you can sing it unlike our current one where two thirds of it is not sung

I agree. Although you have to realize that the DDR was merely incorporated into the BRD and not merged. Somewhat like what the Prussians did in 1871.
Or put more simply; the GDR assented to be gobbled up (annexed) by the FRG.
The move was done kind of in a rush too, as the FRG's politicians knew the UK and others like Austria either opposed the two Germany's combining, or were unenthusiastic about it, opting to state conclusions like "I like Germany so much I prefer to see two of them".
That was in fact proposed by Lothar De Mazière when the reunification happened.
@@jimtaylor294 The thing is that the DDR was not very enthusiastic for reunification at the beginning. In 1989 after the fall of the world 65% of East Germans were opposed to it.
@@carlosmpsenyorcapitacollon6977 Possibly, though my point was that the Volkshammer didn't oppose being annexed by the FRG. They legally could have, and the Russians might have supported them (the UK ironically certainly would have, as we didn't want Germany recombined), but to the non-diehards in the GDR leadership it likely seemed like they'd lost control of the situation, and that public opinion was against them.
Republic Day (German: Tag der Republik) was an official holiday in East Germany, celebrated annually on 7 October from 1949 to 1989. Republic Day commemorates the anniversary of the establishment of the German Democratic Republic on 7 October 1949. Fun fact. The GDR anthem and the song of the Germans from 1841 are almost compatible. So i did it for the 71. anniversary of the founding of the GDR

The Lyrics of the East German anthem were purposely done so both lyrics could be sang with each others anthem.

I'm not German, but if I'm completely honest, I do prefer the DDR anthem because it's very fitting for post-war Germany (and iirc, there's no mentions to communism or whatever), it's just a song about getting a former glory. However, the 1st and 3rd stanza fit incredibly well with the DDR tune (don't really like the 2nd, but eh, personal preference), and although I do like the tune of the current German anthem, I like this more. Beautiful singing Karl!
tbf midway through the 2nd stanza there is ''schlagen wir des Volkes Feind'' (''we'll defeat the enemy of the people'') but that's not exclusively communist ofc

@@ZenoDovahkiin what anthem are you seeing the lyrics to? It says none of those things. “If we unite fraternally, we will defeat the enemy of the People.” is the most socialist sounding, but it also fits perfectly in the context of German 1848 radical liberalism.

Auferstandten aus Ruinen was intentionally written to go well with Das Lied der Deutschen.
The other lyrics that can fit here is Gott erhalte franz den Kaiser the Austria-Hungary national anthem. Karl has a version of Auferstanden aus ruinen being sung on Gott Erhalte franz den Kaiser/Deutschlandlied & Columbia university alma mater tune
the anthem of Austria Hungary was "Gott Erhalte, Gott Beschütze" the song you mentioned was sang only during reign of Franz II the Austrian Emperor almost 50 years before creation of Austria Hungary

@Marcus Thorsen yes, I know they were designed for compatibility, but karl could probably work something out if he wants. It could deplete the integrity of the original songs though.
There can always be more crossovers based on this one, because the melody of Deutschlandlied was used, for example, in Austria-Hungary.
The old South African anthem are also almost compatible with Surinamese anthem.
Same for Malinese and Senegalese anthem...

Replace the 2. Stanza with something like "risen up from ruins" and you have the best anthem ever.

Given that the German anthem and the Austrian Kaisershymne have the same music while the GDR anthem's lyrics can be easily replaced with both the standard and Austrian ones (all versions) it seems that the same can be done with the GDR lyrics and the standard melody. That's awesome - three different anthems able to get their music and lyrics mismatched and in all the results everythinh fits like a glove.

Ich kann gar nicht fassen, dass obwohl die Hymne der DDR mit dem Hintergrdanken sie mit dem Text des Deutschlandliedes zu singen komponiert wurde, es einfach keine "offizielle" Version davon zu finden gibt, zumindest soweit ich das jetzt sehe.

More fitting than the melody the FRG still uses today, which was "borrowed" from Austria, during the Weimar era.
The Austrians "borrowed" the Tune from the Holy Roman Empire. When the HRE used it, it served as a Personal Hymn of Empire Francis II of the HRE, and Later Austria

I love that the GDR anthem mixed perfectly with the Deutschlandlied lyrics, it's like the East Germans wanted to mimic of the anthem of their Western counterpart but changed the tune and lyrics of it
i've heard that the anthem was intended to match with Deutschlandlied anthem for some purpose, and it was arranged creatively so that it won't become a military marching song

I would personally interpret ”Deutschland über alles”, as referring to Germany holding the most important place in its citizens’ hearts (”Germany above all (for us)”), not necessarily supporting imperialism 🇩🇪.

Conspiracy theory : the third stanza was actually the original ddr anthem while the less patriotic and pacifist west created auferstanden aus ruinen, but the east sounded too patriotic with two times deutsches vaterland on last high tone, so they swapped as it as it is today.
