I paid an appliance repair guy nearly $500 to replace the defrost module and when he did and plugged it back in, it blew the outlet out was plugged into and the compressor didn't come on even when I plugged the refrigerator into a different outlet. 12 hours later it still isn't working. What a waste of time and money. THIS is why people throw their appliance away - because we can't trust so called repair professionals to actually fix it.

Had a fridge dripping water I used a shop vac and heat gun to melt ice that had damned up blocking the water from running down the styrofoam channels Took an hour, no issues for 3 months now
My freezer popped open at night, woke up the next morning to loud squeeling noises, ended up being condensation around the blower fan. Almost got a new one but thawed it all out, cleaned up the mess, still working today.
I had something similar happen to me. A sales receipt ended up under the fridge and was flapping around in the fan. 😂 Sounded like it was about to explode, take the paper out of the fan and problem solved 🎉.
Same here with our new Whirpool. Some parts get frozen creating a block, so no air flows to the fridge side. Unpluging it for few hours to defrost, or knowing how to force defrost on your model is what seems to work. 3 repair men have come, replaced some parts, and the issue continues.
Actually, most non commercial refrigerators use R-134a which is non flammable. Primarily only commercial units use propane. If you look, all modern residential fridges have a federally mandated sticker identifying which refrigerant they use. @gwynjones0071
My new one I just bought has the R600a which is either propane or isobutane instead of freon...it's a Frigidaire...I'm pissed!! From what I have read they stopped using freon in 2020 to 'save the planet'. I feel like I've got a ticking time bommb in my kitchen!
I only call a repair man for is the compressor repair. Anything small like fans, buttons, and circuit boards are easy to replace if u dedicate a small amount of time.
A lot goes into replacing the compressor. Gotta recover the refrigerant, remove the compressor, install new compressor, purge the system, and recharge. It’s also against the law since you need the proper permit to handle refrigerant.
Brother when you're poor you don't have a choice I'm always working on everything each appliance heat air you name it always best to at least see what your hands can do before trashing an appliance
Depends. Some are trying to sell you a new one... I had a Stihl chainsaw once they wouldn't bother to fix at the store so I bought a $30 rebuild kit online and watched some videos. Back in business.
Love your advice. That’s the best advice I have heard all my life. I am sticking with it. Thanks. 🙏 try to fix it. You won’t loose nothing. It’s broken anyways. So we think. 😅. Thanks for the video
Good logic, watch the fingers. 😆 Currently manually taking off the ice my GE 198? something fridge built up. And advice? Off to find a video related to the subject.
Hey, I’ve got the same noise in my fridge, but it’s more towards the top, I’m not sure how to see what’s going on with it, it has a solid back on it. It’s a whirlpool French door . I did give it a couple whacks with my hand. The noise did stop, but I’m still curious as to what that noise was. You have any idea?
I have a GE fridge door refrigerator. That on its own, the temperature will raise to 55° and then overtime go back down to 34° all on its own do you by chance know what may be the malfunctioning problem
Hi, so I can’t get the cover off. What kind of drill attachments do I need for the big bolts? I’m new at this and I don’t have the right size screwdriver and it’s impossible to get the wrench to grip the bolts.
I am cleaning the back of my fridge I do it a few times a year the Back access panel that you took off is really dirty is there anyway to Clean it? They are almost 200.00 to get a new one it’s insane
Cardboard in fan fix !
Wish mine was that easy ! 😂😂😂

Dam, for 500 I expect someone that knows their stuff.
Seems like he should be a 100-150 dollar guy
Facts !
500 you should buy a new one
Hi where is the dropping tray for thst fridge located?
Your fault if you paid him before the problem was fixed
I have had a fridge for a year in middle of aug and it quit 3 months ago! What the heck is going on with this new stuff. It's junky plastic.
I would encourage you to turn off electricity before you touch anything.
It doesnt matter with low voltage . You might get a little zap but its fine. I do it all the time

My old one is sitting on the gargae.. it won't cool anymore.. it's not clogged with dust, so idk what the issue may be

Propane refrigerant 🔥🔥🔥 just remember this‼️
In my area R-290s are throw-aways. No one wants the liability of unnecessary fuel gas liabilities when R-134a are rational.

Thanks for this great video. My parents have a True refrigerator and this was the issue.
Omg that little noise would not stop the refrigerator from cooling
Yes it would appliance repair tech here that fan is for your condenser and if it’s not operating at full rpm your Freon will not properly flow

What would be the issue if the fridge stop running. The light inside works but the fan and such don't come on when plugged in freezer or working nada
Have couple rat carcasses and insulation in my parents fridge/freezer 🤢🤮
Where is defrost timer on 2011 side by side whirlpool. Can't find
Mine was leaking Freon and no repairmen would touch it.
Had same situation but it fully stopped the fan and I didn't notice until everything was bad
Impressive it was that simple, good video. Also, huge oversight by the design team who couldn't see that happening or prevent it from happening.
That’s not actually broken. That’s making an unusual noise
Mine doesn’t have that 😭
Even if a certified technician deems it unfixable?

Propeller? Fan?
Screamin
My whirlpool isn’t freezing nor keeping cold in the fridge. Also makes a loud whiting sound

I have this fridge but it’s leaking water at the bottom of the freezer. How do I fix it?
I have a bottom freezer refrigerator. The freezer is not cooling like it should. Any ideas what it might be?
Appreciate it! It wasn’t cardboard causing mine to make noise tho, the fan had come off and was getting tossed around😂
😱🤯
So the fridge was never not working... it was just noisey
So many things ate this simple so long as you are capable of opening up stuff and or hammer testing .
I have same configuration in back of fridge but my fan doesn’t start spinning unless i give it a push. i just can get to start by itself
Yeah and if you can't figure it out please put it back in the way it was, before calling for service
That's the exact sound I heard in my refrigerator. Thanks for that tip
My brother! Does the fan u poin it the air flow have to be for the compresor or towards the other side?
Mine is making a sizzling/hissing sound. Any ideas?
I currently strapped financially and My repair guy is usually a month out.
Make a video and upload it. I’d be happy to watch it
Mines makes some type of humming sound , can that be it ??
😂, what you can do is refill the Freon or replacement compressor?)
What if it keeps doing it over and over again
That was a nice set up . How would that cardboard get there otherwise.
Like the issue with young Sheldon

How come I never get those easy calls.
I have Lenore side by side n freezer is frosting a lot…any ideas plz?

Cardboard stuck in the fan? Let's get a new fridge😂
You know he put that cardboard there 😅
Clean the fan and heat exchanger.

I replaced the motherboard and the compressor and the refrigerator will not stay cold. Time to replace it.
Bad gaskets . Does your freezer have a lot of ice buildup ?
Yes
Did you add refrigerant? An if you did, did you measure how much it would take?
Perfect fix for my problem thank you
Thank you
