    I was curious about this game, until I saw the pre-order price via Board Game Bliss

    Is it just me or does the crab sound kinda possessed? 😂

      Not my most on point performance, but I tried :)

    Would it be easier to lay out the crabs deck as 5 piles (one for each type) so you can tell when he’s close to achievements? Or was having it as one stacked deck just better for space?

    You could move your boat twice using the power to activate other one imho õ/

    Thanks for this Jason - as someone who hasn’t got any Everdell content and is looking to play solo, would you recommend this as a good jumping in point? The preorder prices seem quite high so wondering if this is good value for solo only 😊

      This one addresses some of the core concerns people had with the base game - ie, it doesn't require chaining specific cards. The scoring is also more generous. Otherwise, it's a very similar game. Probably can't go wrong with either entry point.

    Mechanically, looks like Everdell but with some of the best bits from the expansions in there from the beginning (it's like they've been learning!). Treasure is a special resource like Pearls from Pearlbrook. Map tiles and weather from Spirecrest. Fully fleshed-out AI from Mistwood. Anchors are just the golden occupy tokens from Newleaf. And overall, a reduced reliance on specific critter-construction combos, which I think they realized was a limiting factor as they were expanding things (though it works fine with just the base game).
    Sadly, we lose Andrew Bosley's art. Not that Jacqui Davis does a bad job. Her art is also great. It's just missing some of the magic. I think it's the color palette more than anything. Everdell felt more vibrant because it used more vibrant colors. This feels a little washed out because it uses colors that are less saturated. Even her art from My Lil' Everdell is saturated like Everdell's is, and so I didn't notice the feel change at all.
    Still, how would you recommend Farshore for an owner of the Complete Collection?

      I think a superfan might want this cuz collector. I think a brand new player to the system might want to start here instead of base Everdell. For someone who is just happy with the base game, it might not offer enough difference. We have the model of Pandemic changing things up wildly with new versions, which is more my taste for these reiterations.

      @@OneStopCoopShop Yeah, I saw someone on BGG saying this model was a lot like what Ticket to Ride does where it's the same game with minor tweaks on each map. There's only so much sameiness you can go in for. This game looks great, of course. It's on my wishlist but it's quite low on it because of what I already have.

    I have pre-ordered this, but after seeing the solo play through I am not so sure now as I have Everdell and the Mistwood expansion, which seems a much better solo experience. Would you say this would be viable for mostly solo play?

    • @OneStopCoopShop
      @OneStopCoopShop  Рік тому

      The core experience isn't all that different from Mistwood. It all depends on whether you resonate with the different types of cards, as well as the Windrose tiles making things different enough for you. For some, it is, while others find it lacking. YMMV.
