This was super helpful. This video seems to be the most honest I've seen on this game. Glad it wasn't all hype. You guys are the real deal!

How would you compare the loss of the critter/construction combos in Farshore with Newleaf's golden leaf tokens? Similiar mechanic, but do you think Newleaf still retains more of the card combo goodness?

I think so, and I still think Newleaf compliments the flavor and theme. What Farshore gains in streamlining, it loses in flavor. Not necessarily a bad tradeoff for all situations, but I think Everdell prospers in the flavor and love of each spot and Critter. - John

    Exciting video.
I understand the argument that you are extremely happy when you finally get the right card in the original. But at the same time, it's extremely annoying and luck-heavy...
I think I could like the new one very much. But again, it won't be cheap:-(

Yeah i think thematically it makes more sense. If you don't care then mechanically I see both sides. NewLeaf introduces something similar to the base game and does it better though. Also, in the base game, you can usually cycle through the whole deck at least once as you get more familiar with the game.
This creates a situation where it's not as much luck as it is milling and seeking, which I would say isn't *much* better, but some solace. - John

. @ChitsandCardboard Thanks for the feedback. I would certainly have to play the new one first before I can judge it accurately, and of course opinions may differ.
I hope you continue to enjoy your channel,
