One year at work, I set the spending limit on Christmas gifts for coworkers to $1.00. I still laugh at the creativity they showed. It was one of the best Christmas parties ever! 😂
I love those types of things, it helps people get so creative. For years my sister in-laws and I would make Christmas gifts for each other, it was so much fun to see what we would come up with. Never spent a lot, but they were cherished gifts because they were made with love.
We had a year where no one was allowed to buy but everyone brought in their worst gift received and you could win one of them, the best fun ever, we never laughed so much.
We got married on Valentine's Day - He's forgetful and thought "Great I can't forget it" ... and I'm a penny-pincher and thought "Great, combine the expenses!" We live in Georgia and by February we always have Daffodils in bloom .. they ARE my very favorite flower ... So for years, Hubby planted new varieties in the fall to surprise me with on our Anniversary/Valentines ... He learned how to arrange them and has gotten very good at it ... I always make something to tickle his Chocolate Cravings ... He always gets me a card - I always write him a love letter. I'm 65 now, have all those cards, he has all those letters and we have more blooms every year ... Can't get better than that!
LOVE the corningware!!What a bargain!!So thoughtful of you to think of the singles on Valentine's Day. I am a widow and always feel a little sad this time of the year, missing my husband. Sending good wishes from South Africa.
Honestly , hubby & I are taking a class at our local extension office. 5.00 per person & they give us each a seed potato starter bag & we gain more experience for our garden ! Happy Valentines Day !
I begged my adult children not to buy me cut flowers or make a restaurant reservation for us on any holiday! 1.) I live on an 18 acre, old family homestead and I have so many flowers growing here. And 2.) I dislike eating out especially on holidays with the huge crowds and long waits!
I can hardly believe what Paul found at the thrift store for $10! So thoughtful! Has Paul ever considered a side hustle as a personal shopper? 😉😂He’s got a good eye for bargains!
Hi Emmy and Paul. We have been married almost 45 years. In our home, everyday is Valentine's Day 💜💜 A healthy hubby is all I need. Thanks for the cameo by Miss Dixiebelle. Enjoy your weekend. God Bless.
You said it all, Karen: a healthy husband is all you need. Yes, a thousand times over. I think too often the value and appreciation of good health is neglected or overlooked. Happy Valentines to you and yours.
Exactly! I tell my hubby there is nothing more romantic than finding him standing at the sink with soapy hands. He and I always do small things like that for each other just because. Valentines day is every day.
Starting out 60 years ago we had no debt, not a lot of income, but determined we would always pay cash or not buy except for a home, have a nice home and raise a family. Big goals! My mom's favorite quote. Pennies make dimes, dimes make dollars. At that time cards were expensive, so we went to the card store, each picked out a card, gave it to the other one, read it, put it back and went out for a nice ice cream treat all for the price of a card that would have eventually got thrown, then home to watch tv. Perfect Valentine's day. Tradition continues, pick out a card, read it, put it back, go a few aisles over and buy a bag of candy all at Dollar Tree, then come home to dessert and ice cream. Love the pink and blue tablecloth under the dip. Happy Valentine's day.
Dora Lol that's so cute . At the end of the day things are just things but love and respect are for ever appreciated . Nothing says love like when your Partner brings burned toast and o.j becuse you are not feeling well lol.
I could be wrong….but I think a week’s wages in 1940 was probably $21. 🤷🏼♀️ WOW on the amount people spend today. My most favorite VD gifts from my husband was a roll of $1 bills tied up with a twist tie and turned in to a ❤️ on the top. Sooo cute! Another year he put $1 bills on the 13 steps to our upstairs. I love these as he knows I love cash (I don’t work outside of the home…so he “makes” the money). ❤️
We don’t celebrate any of the holidays or super bowl. We celebrate Christmas, Easter Sunday and our anniversary, and it is almost always a home cooked meal. What a great find Paul! Last weekend we were invited to a fish fry with friends- I made a taco salad with ingredients I already had at home. It felt great not having to run to the store
As you were speaking of the construction paper valentines, I glanced up at a picture hanging on the wall. I brag about this all the time. My daughter, Emily, and I were attempting to make hearts with paper doilies and pink construction paper, but she was having none of that. She was I think 4. She cut out a profile head of a dog, drawing eyes, whiskers, and ear. When my husband came home I said look at this. 4 year olds don’t do these kinds of things. He responded, oh she’s all right. She is now a graphic novelist drawing all her characters in her books Trying Human. It’s a little to deep for me, but her fans love it. We are so proud of her. The best valentine I’ve ever seen! 💙
I've never been interested in football so Super Bowl Sunday isn't a thing in my household. And the only Valentine's activity I do is send cards to the two younger grandkids and write them a little note. The only holidays I "do" are Christmas, Easter and July 4th. I retired and living alone so those other ones aren't significant.
My husband and I usually trade a $.50 card on Valentine's Day from Dollar Tree and give each other a kiss. However, this year will be different. We haven't eaten outside of our home since September when we were on vacation, so he said it was time for me to take a break from cooking. We are going to eat at our favorite Mexican restaurant, but we are going at noon on Feb 13th when the lunch menu is cheaper and we have a coupon and we are calling that our Valentine's Day present to each other. The crowd won't be bad on that day either, just regular lunch crowd! We have been living so frugal and saving so much money lately we decided it was time for a small reward. For Super Bowl Sunday, I picked up a package of chicken wings for 1.99/lb so we are having wings and nachos while we cheer on our Chiefs! Today is Red Friday and everyone in Kansas City has red on today, the buildings are all lit in red lighting, Chiefs flags and banners hanging everyone, can't wait for the big game on Sunday. We are already winners just making it to the Super Bowl and Patrick Mahomes was named MVP of the NFL last night so many blessings, but it would be great to bring home the trophy! GO CHIEFS!
Great job, Paul, on your birthday shopping! I'd have been thrilled receiving those gifts. The dip looks so good, I've got everything to make it, too! We'll stay home for Valentines, and I'll fix some steak (bought on clearance from our freezer). Have some green bean casserole and fruit salad.
This year i splurged and decided to buy my grown son a cool picnic backpack set. As you can imagine he was not thrilled. He will be this summer when he learns to do free entertainment with his gal! I will give him ideas to use it. He's really money conscious.
I’m teaching my grandchildren about thrift shopping, they have $5 each to take thrifting and then we compare our hauls. I like to think of it as a treasure hunt
Paul what a great job! I don't celebrate holidays but sometimes make special foods. This year I am concentrating on nutrition and foods I enjoy. I come from a culture where if someone visits you must feed them. Everybody laughs at me.
Tuesdays are our $5 movie and free popcorn night, so I assume we will see a movie? Tomorrow we have family visiting and will much on snacks, (kinda pot luck hot appetizers / seasonal fresh fruits and veggies we cut up, with dip), play board games, and a Valentine’s 1.25 bingo game…. Haha. Whatever we don’t use, will be finished off for big game, with a large batch of homemade baked Mac and Cheese….. I loved Paul’s thrifting bday finds! My husband is now getting out to thrift shops, secondhand bookstores, etc…. With me. He has alway known of how frugal and thrifty I am….. but is learning that it is also fun and can be entertainment too!
Would love the corning ware, absolutely beautiful patterns. And the tablecloth is so Emmy. I think that is what true love is, knowing your partner. Taking the time to really listen to your partner, observe their likes and dislikes. Good job, Paul. Happy Valentine day to you both. And Dixie too.
My significant other died in September of 2022, but for Valentine's Day he always made me dinner he would wait until I got out of work to celebrate it. I truly love the simple things that he would do for and I miss him too.
I’m so glad you reduce the salt. I’m a young 60 year old, but had heart failure, due to Covid, last year, and just about died. Many people were praying for me and the Lord raised me up, so thankful to my Savior Jesus. Now, I still have to really watch what I eat, especially the sodium. Thankful I found you guys. Cheryl from South Carolina. For superbowl supper, I am making a great new chili recipe and having family over after church.
I carry on my mother's Valentine's Day tradtion of a nice, home cooked dinner, with the table set beautifully and a little treat by each dinner plate. I don't let the kids come into the dining room until dinner is ready, just like mom did. We are blessed with a candy store downtown that makes wonderful chocolates. Everyone will get a couple valentine shaped chocolates at their seat and I'm happy to support a local business! For the Super Bowl - we don't watch it, but play games and have fun. I have plenty of treats in the freezer still from New Year's Eve and extra cheeses and crackers I had stocked up on before the holidays while they were on special. So we have everything we need for a fun day!
My son used to work at a grocery store and always told me to "shop around the store first. When shopping the aisles, look at the top of the shelf and down first the shelf first." Grocery stores deliberately set up the higher price items in the middle for convenience sake....... THANK YOU so much for your channel. I so appreciate YOU BOTH. God Bless you
I'm retired. My wife is still working but will likely have to cut back soon. I grew up in the 1960s, and my mom had to feed 7 on my father's salary. Mom was the queen of casseroles, the pressure cooker, and cooking from (almost) scratch. By almost scratch, I remember many casseroles that started with a can of cream of mushroom soup. She was a fabulous cook. Since I'm retired I do a lot of the cooking, cleaning, and shopping. We have two adult kids living with us. For Valentine's Day, I found some nice cards, not $5-$6 dollar Hallmarks but $1 each at the dollar store. I wrote something in each one. I also bought a heart-shaped box of candy, but I got it at Aldi, and it was pretty good. I'm finding that I'm going back to my mother's cooking style, and my kids love it. We never feel deprived; real food always tastes better than something frozen or obtained through a drive-through.
Hi Emmy. Great video!!!!!! I just got home today from rehab and the hospital. Not moving very well, but so grateful to be home. Thank you so much for all the prayers and support. It means more than I can say. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!!!!!!!!
One of my favorite hors d'oeuvres is... Packages of that really inexpensive meat called Buddig take the corned beef and spread it out overlapping each slice just a little bit, spred softened cream cheese and lay those tiny sweet gerkin pickles down on top Roll it all up and slice into small round pinwheels. Honestly it's the first thing to disappear! ALSO Take a block of cream cheese Add one small bag of those tiny tiny cocktail shrimp on top, add a jar of cocktail sauce and crackers... It's not pretty but man it's good 👍😊
I remember on a few different occasions some of the people that we went to church with helped each other out with very romantic dinners. One couple would host a dinner for another couple at their house. They set up a table in the backyard with a white tablecloth and beautiful table setting. They cooked them dinner. The couple hosting the dinner dressed up like they were servers at a five-star resort. They served them a three-course meal with wine and candlelight. It was incredibly romantic and absolutely beautiful, way better than any restaurant. The couple that was having the dinner we're dressed up, they were soft music playing and it was just the two of them being served and waited on in an incredibly beautiful way just so that they could have a romantic evening. And then the favor was returned and a couple that was served in this beautiful way was intern given the same treatment
When our children were little we always had a family Valentines dinner. I would make a heart shaped pizza and they had little heart shaped boxes that I filled with the red and silver wrapped Christmas candy that I got on clearance (I saved the green and gold for St. Patrick's day!). Now that we're empty nester we build a fire in the fireplace and I either set out a picnic dinner for us or I'll set up the card table with a pretty tablecloth and dishes and make a fireside bistro table with a homemade dinner
Every year my school used to visit two nursing homes. We’d be given in advance the names and a brief bit of information about the person. The staff would choose those patients who never had visitors or mail, and sometimes patients who were uncommunicative but could understand when spoken to. We’d make individual cards and make or buy small gifts. On Valentine’s Day or close to it, we’d load up two buses and visit the patients, either in their rooms or in a common room if able. Prior to going, the students would have lessons in how to visit with various patients, ie. put them in pairs with which would be comfortable. It was amazing after the first few years, how some students discovered they could connect with difficult patients, ie. those with dementia, couldn’t speak, had odd or no movements. A few students were even inspired by these trips to go into geriatric care after graduation from high school, nursing, medical, even doing therapy, hair and make-up for the elderly. Often, the elderly are widows or widowers, or perhaps have no family left and had long since lost their friends and communities. A nursing home can be a very lonely place on a day that celebrates romantic love.
My hubby & I view every day as a "celebration", a special occasion! We just love to be together and to cook, whatever! :) And these days, we should be grateful for every day, every occasion! :) Dawn @ Rich & Dawn in MN :) Nice video!
What a kind husband you have. Great find at the thrift store. Great job Paul 🎉. Don’t celebrate either of those so zero dollars spent. Always love your videos. Have a great day
HAPPY 😊 BIRTHDAY 🎂💙🎈Sweet Friend I love Paul’s gift 🎁 to you. You are blessed with a wonderful family 🎈Thank you again and again for the blessing of you UA-cam shows.
I grew up in Mexico and el día de San Valentín is “the day of friendship and love.” So I’ve always included friendship as part of the holiday. I am single this year and so relieved so I’ll be celebrating with friends and my cats.
A home made dinner and a home made card. Spending time together and a sentimental card. Romance is key. Not gifts. Rub my feet. Do the dishes. Im easy to please !!! LOL 😁
For Valentine’s Day this year, we’re going to make a special charcuterie board and have a date night in. We saved treats that we got from Christmas (nice chocolates, assorted treats, a salami, and a bottle of wine). All we have to add is cheese, crackers, and nuts which we already have in the house. We love to make our charcuterie boards together since it’s a treat and an activity. We looked up a simple video on how to make salami roses with a wine glass. Easy and beautiful.
I just thought of a good gift for a Gardner....arrange on some spikes packages of flower seeds in a bouquet style in a pot with a ribbon wrapped around the pot....how does that sound??
I love our visits! You both have become good friends, Emmy and Paul! Great ideas! We celebrated a quiet Super Bowl day and Valentines Day. It’s our style 😊 The way I work to make gift giving special is by always having eyes and ears open to talk about others hobbies, brands they enjoy (think soaps, lotions). You get the idea. Look for the deals and have a stash. Love the thrifting Paul did! I could guarantee those same items thrifted here would have been $20 plus! You have a keeper of a thrift store there! ❤
Emmy…..My husband and I twenty years ago we both decided cards were much to expensive, so we went together to the large card shop in the city and bought the most expensive beautiful Husband and Wife …….BIRTHDAY, CHRISTMAS, VALENTINE CARDS we put them out on the appropriate dates, over the years cards have escalated to an exorbitant price. We have saved so much money, we do not regret doing this at all. We are not mean or cheap, just sensible. Love your show you talk such sense, it is such a pity the young DONT adhere to what you and Paul are doing, we live the same kind of life style, have been married 56 years and like you are debt and mortgage free, we don’t have a credit card only when on a cruise, then it is paid off when we arrive back in the U.K. and the card is then cut up. Blessings to you both. 🇬🇧🏴🙏🍷🇬🇧🏴
I always snag the deal's on chocolate day after... It's our extra splurge for each other and my husband is a HUGE chocoholic! I have to hide them (he finds them) lol because he'd eat them all in a few days! But it's even better when he thinks they are all gone and I pull some out a month from now! 💞
First place I go is to the freezer, then the pantry. Then decide, what I need to complete the menu. Super Bowl, we had taco pie, chili cheese dip, Mexican rice & cheddar cheese curds for 2 days. Valentine’s Day, rib steaks, chicken breast, baked potatoes & roasted broccoli. Oh, I made a lemon loaf, all so good!
My birthday last year we just did what I wanted and ate meals I wanted...all of it was at home. No takeaways, just yummy food made with things from the grocery store.
My husband and I have been craving chicken wings. Remember when they were a cheap menu item? I just found fresh wings on special at a local store for only $1.99 a pound! The package I bought has 3.73 pounds and was $7.43..... that will give us two servings. It pays to wait folks. We are going to have wings for the super bowl - at home and save so much money. Plus we will bake them in the oven to make them a little more healthy and they will be delicious....Win Win! For Valentines day I'll make us a homemade heart shaped pizza and we will eat that in front of our fireplace. It will be pizza made just the way like it and without the busy restaurant. I love your videos - thanks for the inspiration and encouragement to keep it simple.
Our gifts for Valentine's this year will be having a home cooked meal served on my mom's floral china, we each wrote a love letter to each other. Superbowl we have a large gathering with our son & his family. We make homemade pizzas 🍕 with everyone contributing their favorite ingredients. This way we can cover many different diet restrictions & the cost is minimal. Happy Valentines Emmy & Paul!❤️❤️
I’m fortunate to be visiting Portugal for both holidays, so I’m enjoying their great food and beautiful sights. To remember my trip, I bought a local CD and will make a slide show of my best photos backed by that music. Economical souvenir!
Emmy, you look lovely in your color top(s)! Paul did a wonderful job of buying your bargain birthday gifts. He knows his wife! I'm also amazed at how good his deals were. I would never find anything that good around here, and for that price. We don't do anything for Super Bowl Sunday, and for Valentine's Day, we may or may not acknowledge. After nearly 48 years of marriage, we don't need just one day to say "I love you".
We stopped watching the Super Bowl a few years ago, but we used to have lots of finger foods and my kids and I would make homemade t-shirts repping our team...just iron-on logos put onto affordable t shirts. One year we made 'terrible towels' when we backed the Steelers. Other years the t-shirts said things like: "Moss is always found on the north side of a goal post." (Randy Moss played at Marshall--where the kids in our family have gone to college.) "Bear Down!" when we backed the Bears. "Super Bowl Sunday...The Saints go marching in." when we backed the Saints. (I think that was our last Super Bowl celebration.) We keep Valentine's Day in perspective--small useful gifts or something a little special that is a treat. Our youngest daughter and I are on a certain eating plan and we can't have chocolate (I hate chocolate, so no love lost, lol...) so we are getting dried fruit assortments, a bottle of nice lotion, and herbal tea for our Valentine's Day. The gifts I've gotten ready for others are similar--nothing too spendy, but thoughtful. We don't go out to eat or make any special food for Valentine's Day. We exchange a small gift and call it good. My husband is not romantic and I found myself feeling resentful after years of me being thoughtful and imaginative--so I stopped and now I feel better. I shared with him about your frugal bday where Paul got to go on a gift-hunt with $10 and we both thought that was an awesome idea! The same thing could be fun for Valentine's Day with maybe $14. Love your ideas!
What a great video with great ideas! Thank you 💕 this valentine’s day I will give my husband something that he needs, I will not say what it is just in case he sees this comment 😉 but I think that giving someone something they need is very thoughtful, this is what I try to do for most holidays.
Great job picking out Emmy's birthday present Paul. Those are the best kinds of gifts. Yesterday was Valentines day and I went to the grocery store to get my mom a small pot of tulips. She loves to replant the bulbs in our flowerbeds. I was shocked at the price for 1 single rose with a small stem of baby's breath- $6.99. Wow. Can't wait to try that dip recipe! Blessings
OHMYGOSH! LOOK AT THAT AWESOME 9X13 PAN! Emmy, you were right! You said "just wait until you see the 9x13 pan Paul got me!" You were right (still working on my coveting problem!) How nice for you! :) Dawn @ Rich & Dawn in MN :)
My small country church makes hundreds of homemade valentines with candy for all the nursing home residents. They have been doing this as long as I can remember, at least for 50 years!
For Super Bowl Sunday, we watch the Puppy Bowl instead...we started watching it when our children were small and it has remained a family tradition. Our grandchildren love it. We still have treats, homemade pizza and things like that. As for Valentines Day my husband and I watch all our favorite romantic movies. There are so any old 1930's and-40's black and white movies, we binge watch as many as we can remain awake for...after 41 years we can't stay awake as long as we used to!
We don't buy each other gifts for holidays. We use that money to go out to eat, or an outing together. Something we have done for a long time, is reuse our greeting cards for each other each year. For super bowl, we don't spend extra money on food. We use what we have here.
My husband and I generally don't exchange presents (love cards though) but take delight in gifting our kiddo. When she was young, kiddo went 'shopping' around the house for us and wrapped the items with tons of tape and whatever paper she could find or make - best times full of memories. 💕
I really loved this video because you reminded us of those who do not have a significant other. Valentines is about love and we can always give a a gift to those that we love on Valentines day and on every other occasion. I was watching you make that dip and thinking that you could probably use it to make a cheesy garlic bread or put it over warm baked potatoes by adding some chives to it. It would be a loaded baked potato! Emmy, you are really super creative in the kitchen and around the home. I remember your Disney pictures that you made for the bathroom I believe. Genius.
Every year the week before Valentine's Day my grocery store puts filet mignon on sale. This year it was $5.99 for a 6 oz. Filet. I bought 10 to have throughout the year. I weighed them all when I got home. Three were over 8oz and 5 were over 7 oz and two were over 6.6. The store doesn't weigh them so you are only charged the $5.99 for each. It's such a great deal and we have 5 special steak dinners throughout the year. Plus they also had a buy one slab of ribs and get two free. This summer my kids and grandkids will come over for a fun bbq. Love your videos!!
For Valentines Day... I was a bartender & i had left over Valentines from my children, handed them out to customers. They loved it. & I had fun doing it.
Something which floors me is that many people don't save thier assorted holiday decorations from year to year. Rather they buy new. Of those that do save decorations they toss everything every 5 years and buy new for a different color pallet, design, or simply to freshen them up.
@@FrugalMoneySaver Ours are either saved, paper goods we've made designed to be disposed of, or something made of other scrap materials designed to be disposed of. While ill admit we do far less decorating than years past, part of the holiday is the hustle and bustle getting ready for a holiday.
We don't spend any money at all on Valentines day and we've been together 27 years. We love each other and spoil each other on ordinary days instead, it's way more special.
Paul you're a dear man. You hit the target with those exquisite gifts. You certainly know your girl😊 Emmy knows how blessed she is. Lovely to see Dixie looking like she adores you both.😁
What a personal, thoughtful gift! Just beautiful. We're doing a low-spend holiday this year. My husband surprised me and got my flowers early (also avoids the raised prices of Valentine's Day), and I plan to make homemade peanut butter cups and chocolate-covered pretzels from chips and items I have in the pantry instead of buying them. 💝😊
Love the dip I will use it with baked trout and as a baked potato topping. Don't have a dip recipe but I will be making more noodle salads going forward with a couple of pickles, some chopped up hotdogs, a little onion, some garden peas a bit of mayo and a little salt and pepper and it's a nice snack on the go. For Valentines we will be cutting some rosebushes and fruit trees from the garden and set some cutlings up for the spring to make "love" grow and bring out the record player and find an old record and dance the night away or just listen to some lovely old songs. Nothing better than the slight crackle of a record and a couple of candles on. And to think of all those going through so much at the moment, donating the money chocolate or flowers would cost to a much more pressing cause/charity.
Girl, you look beautiful in that top. The colors are perfect for you. What an amazing job Paul did on your gifts. Those are right up your alley and I know you will really enjoy them. I'm glad you had a great day. Tony and I had Valentine's Day lunch at our "over 55" center today. For $10 total, I had beef tips with garlic mashed potatoes, green beans, salad, milk, coffee and dessert and he had strawberry glazed pork chops, mashed potatoes, salad, potato leek soup, dessert coffee and milk. The portions were large and filling. A lot of food for both of us and music was provided. There were cute little decorations on all the tables with bowls of chocolates and candy hearts. Now we don't have to go out to a crowded restaurant on the 14th and pay exorbinate prices or decorate. On the actual Valentine's Day we're going to stay home, make pizza and watch movies. We love staying in when the restaurants are full and the staff is overworked. I like your idea of getting 2 meals from one recipe. I made a double batch of your Sloppy Joe recipe with some roasted sweet potato fries yesterday as my daughter and granddaughter were stopping by. We added some fresh fruit and homemade sugar cookies. On Sunday we will make nachos with the sloppy joe sauce for the super bowl. I'll cut up some veggies and cheese and that will be our little party. Having a good time doesn't need to cost a lot of money. It's about the memories being made with those we love.
One year at work, I set the spending limit on Christmas gifts for coworkers to $1.00. I still laugh at the creativity they showed. It was one of the best Christmas parties ever! 😂
That's a great idea!!
Melted my heart what Paul gifted you for your Birthday! So very personal and thoughtful. What a gem you have! ❤
Yes, I am very thankful!
i refuse to go into debt on any holiday i make everything myself dinner desserts gifts decorations everything i will never spend money i do not have

Sabrina that is just wonderful! Thanks for sharing!
LOVE the corningware!!What a bargain!!So thoughtful of you to think of the singles on Valentine's Day. I am a widow and always feel a little sad this time of the year, missing my husband. Sending good wishes from South Africa.
Sending a huge hug from Canada.
From one widow to another: Happy Valentine’s Day!!! Hugs from California, USA
I too am a widow. Happy Valentine’s Day from Ohio, USA.
Happy Valentine’s Day to you across the world
I too am a widow! Happy Valentine’s Day from Indiana
Honestly , hubby & I are taking a class at our local extension office. 5.00 per person & they give us each a seed potato starter bag & we gain more experience for our garden ! Happy Valentines Day !
What a great fun idea! ❣️
That's awesome:)
This is a very cool idea. 💡💖
Love that so mjuch Kim!
LOL! That would be fun!
So true! A healthy spouse by your side is the best gift ever 😊
Exactly! I tell my hubby there is nothing more romantic than finding him standing at the sink with soapy hands. He and I always do small things like that for each other just because. Valentines day is every day.
Karen you are absolutely right! No better gift in the world than good health! Thank you!

Dora Lol that's so cute . At the end of the day things are just things but love and respect are for ever appreciated . Nothing says love like when your Partner brings burned toast and o.j becuse you are not feeling well lol.
What a lovely tradition, Dora. Wishing you many more years together.
I don't have a significant other right now but I may purchase myself a small package of Hersey's kisses. 😆
Absolutely! Love that!
So sweet of him!
What a great find and buy by Paul . Amazing . Love those corningwear dishes .
That's great!
How did you buy the little house?
We re-use our Valentine's cards. We each chose a favorite from those we've saved from previous years, read it aloud then display it on the mantle.
Oh my gosh I love that!! How wonderful Holly Jo!
GO CHIEFS!
Sounds so wonderful and fun!! Enjoy!!
Love the idea of steaks at home!
This year i splurged and decided to buy my grown son a cool picnic backpack set. As you can imagine he was not thrilled. He will be this summer when he learns to do free entertainment with his gal! I will give him ideas to use it. He's really money conscious.
Love that idea!
I’m teaching my grandchildren about thrift shopping, they have $5 each to take thrifting and then we compare our hauls. I like to think of it as a treasure hunt
That is awesome!
No Super Bowl, no Valentine in our household. Super frugal. 🙂
Sounds like a wonderful weekend!!
You as well, thank you!
I wish you two lived closer.
I need people like you in my life. 😃👏🏻
Dawn, thank you! So kind of you to say!
My significant other died in September of 2022, but for Valentine's Day he always made me dinner he would wait until I got out of work to celebrate it. I truly love the simple things that he would do for and I miss him too.
Oh Windy! I am so very very sorry for your loss...
Paul did a great job at the thrift store! The dip looks delicious...I may try it to have a snack while I'm rooting for my chiefs!
Go Chiefs!!!❤❤❤
I’m so glad you reduce the salt. I’m a young 60 year old, but had heart failure, due to Covid, last year, and just about died. Many people were praying for me and the Lord raised me up, so thankful to my Savior Jesus. Now, I still have to really watch what I eat, especially the sodium. Thankful I found you guys. Cheryl from South Carolina.
For superbowl supper, I am making a great new chili recipe and having family over after church.
So glad you are okay now! Thanks for watching Cheryl!
Sounds like so much! What a lovely idea for Valentines!
You did awesome Paul!!! What a great idea!
God Bless you
God Bless you as well! Thank you!
Gosh, I love your comment! Thank you for taking the time to share!!
Paul that was an amazing find wow
Hi Emmy. Great video!!!!!! I just got home today from rehab and the hospital. Not moving very well, but so grateful to be home. Thank you so much for all the prayers and support. It means more than I can say. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!!!!!!!!
Oh so happy you are home! Please take it easy and we will continue to pray!
Loved Paul’s birthday gifts! No big plans for either the Super Bowl or Valentines Day.
Paul is a rockstar shopper!! I give him an A+++++!!
One of my favorite hors d'oeuvres is...
Packages of that really inexpensive meat called Buddig take the corned beef and spread it out overlapping each slice just a little bit, spred softened cream cheese and lay those tiny sweet gerkin pickles down on top
Roll it all up and slice into small round pinwheels.
Honestly it's the first thing to disappear!
ALSO
Take a block of cream cheese
Add one small bag of those tiny tiny cocktail shrimp on top, add a jar of cocktail sauce and crackers... It's not pretty but man it's good 👍😊
Sounds good!
What a lovely idea Jennifer!
Paul got a beautiful gift for you.
I'm in love with your 9x13 baking dish. What a sweet V-day present hubby gave you, and he's funny too!!!
They were actually my birthday gifts!
Happy Birthday Emmy! Love the creative frugal ideas and recipes. The love and thoughts you have for each other is priceless, sweeter day by day!
Thank you so much!
That sounds so wonderful Wendy! LOVE it!
Paul found you the perfect gift. I would've loved it myself! He's a keeper.
He absolutely is!
Buying those gifts for a person who enjoys making a home happy is priceless. Great finds!
Absolutely!!
Love this so very much!! Kudos to the school that encouraged this!!
Awesome job Paul.
My hubby & I view every day as a "celebration", a special occasion! We just love to be together and to cook, whatever! :) And these days, we should be grateful for every day, every occasion! :) Dawn @ Rich & Dawn in MN :) Nice video!
Love that!
What a kind husband you have. Great find at the thrift store. Great job Paul 🎉. Don’t celebrate either of those so zero dollars spent. Always love your videos. Have a great day
Thanks so much Melody!
Gifts from Paul are amazing 👍
Wowzers. Paul did good on the gifts picked out.
HAPPY 😊 BIRTHDAY 🎂💙🎈Sweet Friend
I love Paul’s gift 🎁 to you.
You are blessed with a wonderful family 🎈Thank you again and again for the blessing of you UA-cam shows.
Thanks for the birthday wishes Alisha!
Those casserole dishes and the tablecloth had Emmy written all over them. Great work, Paul! 😁❤
Paul did a great job with your gifts! That is such a lovely idea.
I grew up in Mexico and el día de San Valentín is “the day of friendship and love.” So I’ve always included friendship as part of the holiday. I am single this year and so relieved so I’ll be celebrating with friends and my cats.
How sweet including friends ❣️
Friends and cats rock. Have fun. 💕
This is beautiful, sending you a special Valentines wish and lots of love from South Africa. 💝🌹
Sounds absolutely wonderful Gitanarosa!
I would have loved Paul's gift also. How beautiful each of the items were.
A home made dinner and a home made card. Spending time together and a sentimental card. Romance is key. Not gifts. Rub my feet. Do the dishes. Im easy to please !!! LOL 😁
Love that Kathy!
That sounds like so much fun! Great idea!
Love the birthday gifts Paul picked out.
I just thought of a good gift for a Gardner....arrange on some spikes packages of flower seeds in a bouquet style in a pot with a ribbon wrapped around the pot....how does that sound??
Love that!
I love our visits! You both have become good friends, Emmy and Paul!
Great ideas! We celebrated a quiet Super Bowl day and Valentines Day. It’s our style 😊
The way I work to make gift giving special is by always having eyes and ears open to talk about others hobbies, brands they enjoy (think soaps, lotions). You get the idea. Look for the deals and have a stash.
Love the thrifting Paul did! I could guarantee those same items thrifted here would have been $20 plus! You have a keeper of a thrift store there! ❤
You have become a dear friend as well Mary!
@@FrugalMoneySaver , thank you ❤️
I need a thrift store like yours! Beautiful gifts
I love this card idea! How lovely and clever!
Yes, lol! Sounds like Paul!
I love the corningware and table cloth. Happy Birthday Emmy.
Thank you! 🤗
Paul did GREAT 🎊 🎊 🎊
What a great find 🤗
First place I go is to the freezer, then the pantry. Then decide, what I need to complete the menu. Super Bowl, we had taco pie, chili cheese dip, Mexican rice & cheddar cheese curds for 2 days. Valentine’s Day, rib steaks, chicken breast, baked potatoes & roasted broccoli. Oh, I made a lemon loaf, all so good!
YUM!
My birthday last year we just did what I wanted and ate meals I wanted...all of it was at home. No takeaways, just yummy food made with things from the grocery store.
Love that!
Sounds perfect Wendy! Great price on the wings!
Happy Valentines Day, thank you!
I’m fortunate to be visiting Portugal for both holidays, so I’m enjoying their great food and beautiful sights. To remember my trip, I bought a local CD and will make a slide show of my best photos backed by that music. Economical souvenir!
Wonderful! Have a beautiful trip!
So true Kim!
I would have grabbed those casserole dishes as well. I love flowers
(I think that was our last Super Bowl celebration.)
We keep Valentine's Day in perspective--small useful gifts or something a little special that is a treat.
Yes! It really was a fun way to gift someone something!! Enjoy the day!
What a great video with great ideas! Thank you 💕 this valentine’s day I will give my husband something that he needs, I will not say what it is just in case he sees this comment 😉 but I think that giving someone something they need is very thoughtful, this is what I try to do for most holidays.
Perfect!
Blessings
Thank you, you as well!
OHMYGOSH! LOOK AT THAT AWESOME 9X13 PAN! Emmy, you were right! You said "just wait until you see the 9x13 pan Paul got me!" You were right (still working on my coveting problem!) How nice for you! :) Dawn @ Rich & Dawn in MN :)
LOL!!! Paul got it for me for Christmas!!
The dip looks yummy.
My small country church makes hundreds of homemade valentines with candy for all the nursing home residents. They have been doing this as long as I can remember, at least for 50 years!
Love that so much!
41 years what an absolute blessing!
@@FrugalMoneySaver He is a blessing, a gift from God!
Wow!! Awesome thrift finds!!
Love that!
Genius.
Hope you had a wonderful trip! Thanks so much Kakelinga for the kind words!
Paul is a great shopper.
I love that!! So delicious and fun!
For Valentines Day... I was a bartender & i had left over Valentines from my children, handed them out to customers. They loved it. & I had fun doing it.
Love that!
Love your shirt! Very Valentines Day appropriate ❤
Thank you!! 😊
Something which floors me is that many people don't save thier assorted holiday decorations from year to year. Rather they buy new. Of those that do save decorations they toss everything every 5 years and buy new for a different color pallet, design, or simply to freshen them up.
Oh gosh my decorations are ancient LOL!
@@FrugalMoneySaver Ours are either saved, paper goods we've made designed to be disposed of, or something made of other scrap materials designed to be disposed of. While ill admit we do far less decorating than years past, part of the holiday is the hustle and bustle getting ready for a holiday.
Good afternoon 🤗💞. Glad to see y'all
You too Pat!!
What beautiful gifts!!! 😁😁
We don't spend any money at all on Valentines day and we've been together 27 years. We love each other and spoil each other on ordinary days instead, it's way more special.
Beautiful Birthday gifts. That gave me a great idea doing simple Xmas shopping this yr cause holidays are nuts. Theft shop, shopping great idea!
Paul you're a dear man.
You hit the target with those exquisite gifts.
You certainly know your girl😊
Emmy knows how blessed she is.
Lovely to see Dixie looking like she adores you both.😁
Yes, I certainly do know how blessed I am.
Sounds delicious and fun Laura!
@@FrugalMoneySaver Thanks!
Paul did such a good job with the $10! Carole
Thanks so much!
DANG, PAUL! YOU SCORED!!!! NICE JOB! AND GOOD FOR YOU, EMMY! AWESOME AND AWESOME AND AWESOME! :) Dawn @ Rich & Dawn in MN :)
So kind Dawn! Always love you comments!!
Love that idea NJ! Thanks!
Everything sounds wonderful Sheila! Thanks for taking the time to share!
