I'm watching this after a week in record breaking August heat in Central Texas, 108 degrees and I could really use a cold, rainy beach day, you have no idea!
Yeah, camping in texas during the summer is rough. We typically try to go in the cooler months. This trip to the beach was very nice and cool. Kinda strange to be at the beach with cold weather. Thanks for stopping by to say hello!
Heading down that way now. I have Dodge 1500 5.7Hemi towing a 26ft BH. I would love to camp on the beach like this, but man, I'm solo and don't want to get stuck.
Yeah, we were a bit worried about getting stuck. If you don’t have much beach driving experience it can be scary, but don’t be worried about getting out there, always nice people around to help. Take a bucket to dump water around the tires. Helps make the sand harder. Enjoy! Thanks for stopping by and saying hello!
We haven’t camped at Padre, but we have camped at Port Aransas. It is so much fun. Milo is adorable. Our Scout loved camping on the beach. Y’all sound like Bill when it comes to coffee. It’s would be a problem for him too if we ran out of coffee. 😂😂
We are planning on a trip to Port A to do something similar! We were last in Port A with our previous trailer. Not really a boondocking trailer. Milo loves the beach... not so much with the water. HAHA. yeah, coffee is important. Helps to set the mood of the day! Cheers and thanks for stopping by to comment!
We love the Padre islands. Camping on the north island is more remote, lots less vehicle traffic. But man is that salt spray rough on the equipment. It wouldn’t take too much time to wreck a trailer like that.
We have not boondocked on the north island, but it is on our list. Yeah, we take extra time to clean the trailer both inside and out when we get back from the beach. Worried about the salt air, but if you don’t take the trailer to fun places why have a trailer! Cheers!
Hey brother here at the island you need all terrains and maybe need to air down some, on days like that where the sand is sticky it will fill your treads fast! I have a tundra and it's a beast there but I haven't towed a trailer like that in that sand.
Thanks for the advice. I did learn several things not to do. HAHA, i wondered about my sanity to tow a trailer on the beach, but well worth the excitement of getting stuck! Thanks for stopping by and saying hello!
That is awesome. The beach trip is the longest we have boondocked for. We have been hanging out in state parks recently, but planning a bigger trip soon! Cheers friend!
Thanks for posting. Would you do a favor for us and tell us about the humidity inside of the trailer? I am going to do my first boondocking soon. Because I am in Conroe, TX, Padre is near enough.
Have not noticed an abundance of humidity while using the trailer. We did not camp much in a high humidity environment. Should be good to go! Happy adventuring!
Hi, thank you for a great video! We are looking at upgrading from our small trailer to an HQ21 mainly for the boondocking ability and potential for growth in the future. We really appreciate your videos, they are very helpful!
Thanks for commenting. We have more black series videos coming after our current run of bbq videos. Plus waiting for it to cool off here in Texas! Love the 21. We looked at it too! Good luck!
Just Found you channel and enjoyed this video. We live outside Wichita Falls, Texas and will be headed back to SPI this weekend, may even see a Rocket launch from out campsite at Isla Blanca park! Tow a 2020 19FBS with a 2019 Ram 1500 :)
We talked about going back down there for the rocket launch. If it gets delayed into the weekend... We just might see you there! Have a great trip. Hope you get to see something EPIC! Thank you for your kind words!
She did most of the cooking. It was a great trip. Had to dodge spring breakers when we left. Yeah, we were impressed with the trailer. We took it easy on the batteries. We are planning some upgrades. Cheers buddy!
yeah, we have noticed that the sensors are not perfect. Have looked at replacing them, but have not done it yet. Thanks for stopping by and saying hello!
Hi there, loved your video. Very informative. I was wondering what area of South Padre were you guys? We’re looking to beach camp with an RV this weekend but we’re told South Padre doesn’t allow RVs on the beach. Thanks
We were on the beach in south padre. We used the access point outside of town and drove just passed the ropes course which is also where the road ends. We were out there with several other RVs. Go for it. Let us know how it goes! Cheers!
Yeah, we just wanted to get away to get some peace. It was much needed. We did do a few things before and after. Plus the weather was not too great while we were there. We are already talking about going back. Thanks for stopping by and saying hello!
How do you feel the Tundra pulled it on road and in the sand? How much pressure were you running in the truck and trailer tires when you got stuck? Looks like you all had a good time!
I think it did well. I don't have a lot of experience driving on sad, but we got that experience quick! On the way out, we did not deflate the tires which probably lead to the problems. On the way back in, I took them down to 15 to 17 PSI. Tundra did well. It was a great experience. We keep talking about doing something like it again, but have not yet done so. Thanks for stopping by and saying hello!
We did it right before spring break. Made it off the beach as everybody started showing up. Closer into Oct would be best. Still a bit warm. Good luck! Maybe we will see you there!
We were given the griddle as a gift. We saw one in one of the black series FB groups. Sadly, don't remember which. But if fits nicely over the out side stove. The stove has a lead/wind screen. Try this one amzn.to/3QgvUJ4
I'm just beginning my research into overland campers. These batteries seem like a constant stressor. I've seen some videos of other rigs upgrading to lithium batteries to get more flexibility. Is that something that can be done with this rig , if so how drastic of a difference between stock and lithium ? I apologize if these are noob questions. Looks like a great time to get away!
in the hq19 there is plenty of room to upgrade. The lithium batteries are liter. We have not done that upgrade yet, but have upgraded solar charge controller and the solar panels. We thank the black series is a great platform to make it what you want. There are some fb groups with amazing members that have done it all! Good luck with your decision. I would look at the quality of the trailer and if you are buying new the customer service for warranty work.
We love padre island, one of the longest-drivable shorelines in the world! The only thing is it gets windy. There is not much effect on you guys in a trailer. Nothing like waking up on a beach. Excellent camp and a great way to test your setup!
We only drove a couple of miles with the trailer. Trying to find that sweet spot of some cell coverage but fewer people. We are planning a trip to Port A soon to do a similar experience. Except Port A, there is ice cream! Thanks for stopping by to say hello!
We can stay about a week. The Black tank is the big limiting factor. Coffee is another. We can’t do it with the ac running, but heater can go the entire time! Thanks for saying hello and have a great adventure!
It's seems to me that the black series could have some problems with quality. From what I've seen from other black series users. But, no one said it directly. Ruggedness of it and lightness could be the reason. And perhaps people not used to It's kind in the US.
There are some weak spots, but those can be replaced. The quality problems are fixable. We have been very lucky with our trailer. Thanks for your comment.
The camper is sooo sweet. I hope to get one in the next year. One think I would make is to add 4 more batteries and increase the black tank

We did Port Aransas on the beach it was great brand new

I love how fearless you are with the places you tow the trailer...and glad to see Milo have some fun!
It is Milo's adventure we just his body Guards! Thanks for stopping by and saying hello!

9:48 A bad day at the beach, beats a good day at work.
My last trip to SPI was exactly like that. 😁
HAHA! Yeah, SPI is a great place to have a bad day! Hopefully they are not all bad! Live is a beach! Live it up!
We boondocked the Mountains for 13 days! 100 % battery recharge by 2pm every day!
That is awesome. The beach trip is the longest we have boondocked for. We have been hanging out in state parks recently, but planning a bigger trip soon! Cheers friend!
This was a great real life test of your trailer while boondocking :). My tip … pee in the sand and poop in the toilet … 😂
It was cold outside! :D yeah, we have adopted that on future trips.
Thanks for stopping by to say hello!
This is so cool, big dream of mine to do something like this. Keep up the videos!
It was not perfect, but a lot of fun. We keep thinking about doing it again soon. Need it to be a bit cooler. You should do it! Cheers!
You guys this looks so relaxing
Thanks!

Outside of the rain, looked like a great trip. Impressive you made it for a week on solar/batteries. Did LeeAnn do ALL the cooking?
She did most of the cooking. It was a great trip. Had to dodge spring breakers when we left. Yeah, we were impressed with the trailer. We took it easy on the batteries. We are planning some upgrades. Cheers buddy!
For your black water to fill quickly and gray water to stay almost non-moving… sounds like the sensors are holding poles to the wrong tanks.
yeah, we have noticed that the sensors are not perfect. Have looked at replacing them, but have not done it yet.
Thanks for stopping by and saying hello!

I can't believe you never unhooked and went anywhere
Yeah, we just wanted to get away to get some peace. It was much needed. We did do a few things before and after. Plus the weather was not too great while we were there. We are already talking about going back. Thanks for stopping by and saying hello!
Have you ever tested battery/solar charger using the A/C?
How do you feel the Tundra pulled it on road and in the sand? How much pressure were you running in the truck and trailer tires when you got stuck? Looks like you all had a good time!

What month (time of year) was this visit? Were looking to do 7 nights there end of Sept into October. Hope the weather hold out for us.
We did it right before spring break. Made it off the beach as everybody started showing up. Closer into Oct would be best. Still a bit warm. Good luck! Maybe we will see you there!
Did the griddle come with the trailer or do you have link for it? It looks pretty compact with a lid?
We were given the griddle as a gift. We saw one in one of the black series FB groups. Sadly, don't remember which. But if fits nicely over the out side stove. The stove has a lead/wind screen. Try this one amzn.to/3QgvUJ4
Chegou mais um amigo com um abraço
Cheers!
Did you air down your tires?
On the way out we did, but just the truck tires. Getting there, we did not.
I may have missed it but when did you go?
We went the spring of 2022. Just before spring break.

You need a serf rod!
haha.. yes we do! Cheers friend!
What are you towing it with?
2020 Toyota Tundra Limited TRD.
How long can you stay there?
We can stay about a week. The Black tank is the big limiting factor. Coffee is another. We can’t do it with the ac running, but heater can go the entire time! Thanks for saying hello and have a great adventure!

Or maybe American campers high expectations 🤔

You need to learn how to fish. Catch some and grill them up.
Yes. Fishing would be fun. Thanks!
We live in this area and wish you could have experienced a more sunny time. Check out some of our content 😊
We will be back! We found some good bbq... See our other video! Thanks for stopping by and saying hello.. Will check out your channel.
