Think in 3/4 not 4/4 and play the following chords on the following counts: 1 & 2 & 3 & 1 & 2 e & 3 e & you will hit the root note on the down beats and finger pluck top three strings on upbeats. on the last Bm and A ;play a hammer on on the e of the count; it would be a straight barre on the second fret for the B and go from a 7th or open b string for that A chord.

You won’t get that percussive sound with a flat pick. Looks like he’s using a thumb pick and fingers. Lots of practice
