Trilene knot is best if you're fish in or near grass because the tag end faces down

Great video as usual tons of valuable information. I had an experience with stainless steel line guides getting grooves in them from fluorocarbon. I use 15# fluorocarbon and started experiencing severely frayed line and upon inspection not only was the tip guide extremely grooved but all the line guides were grooved to some degree. I recommend ceramic guides at least for fluorocarbon line.

I do love seeing a fish jump. If I lose the ones that do it's OK. I also crush all of my barbs. This is not for the fish, this is for me. I have twice had hooks stuck in me so bad that I had to go to an ER or a clinic to have them removed. The 2nd time I got another guy fishing nearby to pull on it with pliers as hard as he could in the hope it would just rip out but it wouldn't.
The rubber nets protect the fish from net injuries better. The net you are waving around is less fish friendly.
Slip bobber fishing will train you to take up your slack first.
On changing line, like I said on one of your other videos, I leave my rarely used reels empty until I am going to use them. The 3 or 4 I use a lot get new line yearly or more often. The ones I use for lure fishing tend to get new line more as I use it up cutting off and retying. I like to have a rod or 2 for lures, and a rod for live bait. Most often the bait rod is set up for a slip bobber, but sometimes for s regular bobber. I usually use a swivel and pre snelled hooks with that so there isn't a lot of cutting off.

Geez, I haven't had the pleasure of a hook in my finger past the barbs. Sounds like a good time.. ugh.

I usually solo fish, and never bring a net. I just bring the fish to the raft and grab the line and pull it up. Is that bad? Ive noticed a lot of ppl use nets but ive never had trouble, or lost a fish over not using one.

To be completely honest, when I'm out solo I usually don't bring a net. But then again, I'm usually not landing 10 pound fish either. I just lip them if they are 3+lbs and if they are dinks just flip them up and I haven't lost any to date either. I would only use a net if I had a fishing buddy on a bass boat.
