Its rumored the world of DQIII is a forgotten age of our world, much like Conan's age of Hyboria. Now Hori is hinting that there may even be another forgotten age prior to that (Like Kull's Atlantis before it was drank by the sea). Welcome back, man.

I would get so annoyed when people said it was Australia since Lancel was obviously meant to be Australia. Question, though: as someone familiar with DQXI but not super versed in it, isn't it possible that the world and story of XI are simply a fairy tale in Erdrick's world? Anyway, this was really fun and I look forward to more of your deep-dives into the backstory and how it's evolved!

Dq11’s world Ardrea is Alliahan it just been sinking for thousands of years it wa smush larger and back then the rest of the world was just wild monster lands with no people. It’s clear it DQ11 the map is just zoomed in on a part of the world. The civilized part. What is really interesting also is when and why did they go underground? Did they go down there to escape the tides and when the dug to deep they hit Zoma’s roof and disturbed something that was supposed to remain trapped and buried by the dragon. It could be a whole game.
Something I'm curious about is how Ortega left the continent. Perhaps Aliahan only knows of Baramos because another kingdom sent ships over with the news, and he simply hitched a ride with them.
Something you didn't mention is that you get the Sword of Kings in XI in Hotto, which was based on Jipang. I don't think Erdrea is the same place has III's overworld. Even if that was true, it still doesn't actually make sense for Aliahan Caste to have a map of Erdrea.
My question is why this Ramia looks so different from the DQ Monsters/DQ8 Ramia? Also is this Ramia capable of multiverse travel like the DQ8 one, as demonstrated in the DQ Heroes games?

A lot of the questions you ask have some elements of answers in a collection of short stories, published in 1988: Dragon Quest III Soshite densetsu e… Shira rezaru densetsu (ドラゴンクエストIII そして伝説へ…―知られざる伝説 単行本 -)! If you're interested in those, I highly recommend checking them out (tho they're in Japanese). This book, as well as others published at the time of DQIII's initial release (Item Monogatari, Monster Monogatari, DQIII Shirarezaru Densetsu • Rotor 2) have super interesting world building stuff, which DO delve into the whole Mu thing actually!

Some tidbits from Shirarezaru Densetsu are: -The world of Dragon Quest III is named Midgard. -Before impersonating Himiko in Jipang, Orochi was sent to Samanosa (Brazil), where he impersonated a woman named Salomé who incited the King to wage war with Aliahan because those were the two most powerful countries in Midgard. That is how Baramos could send his monsters to take over the world with little resistance. -Another of Baramos' minions is called Satan. That's the monster who destroyed Theddon and the one who Ortega fights on the volcano during the intro. There is a lot more lore in those books so check them out.

@ continents do rise up and down over millions of years because continental drift sometimes they go real low and seawater covers a huge part of the continent. But obviously that’s like a really long time for a civilization or what not but since it’s a fake game, we’re just gonna say the it sank because reasons of magic I don’t know. Thanks for responding.
