    Thought I had a subscription but didn’t and had to fix that. This is such an interesting channel with pleasant walk in the woods storytelling that takes me gaway from all the craziness of life. You two are the embodiment of good things about my neighbor to the north that I’ve always found many reasons to visit. Now many more. Thank you.

    Great video! I half expected a shot of Chuck in spelunking gear heading towards the swallow hole with Poppins dragging him back with ropes. Fascinating place though.

    I have lived in Presque Isle county most of my life. And yet again I have been shown to go out and explore. Well I learned a lot thanks to you and Poppins! I have been to the park and the sinkholes doing repelling though frowned upon but I did not know the history there

    Nice to learn about this area that I have not been to yet. Have you two been to the Fiborn quarry and the Hendrie River caves near Rexton in the UP? A very similar situation happening there as a karst. We used to go exploring there back in the 80s. Love your channel. ✌️

    I’ve been going to Sunken Lake, which is on the other side of mystery Valley to camp since I was in diapers and I am now 62. I raised my son there and now they’re raising their children there in the campground on weekends marvelous mysterious place.

    It would be really interesting to have someone use a really powerful ground penetrating radar system there, to see if there are any voids/caverns close enough to the surface(or open enough) to register! That, or perhaps use sonic to see if major changes in density under the surface indicate any large voids!

    Another fascinating and well done presentation. But, one question. I know you put in some facts about yourselves in your videos, but have you ever considered adding a little more detail about your backgrounds to one of your videos?
    I'm sure I'm not alone as one of your fans who would like to know a little bit more about your background (unless you're in the witness protection program or are secretly working for the CIA).
    You got me on this one. My best lived in Millersburg for many years, and I used to spend summers at Hubbard Lake. But I hadn't heard about "Mystery Valley". Thank You for the content. And watch where you step!

    I canoed from Sunken Lake (shown in the video) to Alpena in 1960 with a group from Camp Chickagami in Presque Isle. Wouldn’t recommend it today. We got as far as Maple Ridge township park that night and on to Alpena the next day…tired, wet from dragging the canoes over, under, around, and through trees and deadfalls. Seventeen miles as the crow flies…2-3 times that far following the course of the Thunder Bay River’s North Branch and then the Main Branch.

    We’ve explored some sink holes nearby between Onaway, and Atlanta. We even found the site where the Ocqueoc River springs out of the ground east of Onaway in one giant artesian spring. There is a lot of geology to see in that area. I even found a couple sites we like to explore for Petoskey stones.

    This is NOT part of the Niagara escarpment, right?

    • @RestlessViking
      @RestlessViking  Рік тому

      Good question. It is not, but it is a related to the seabeds that created the escarpment, I think. The escarpment itself is along the north channel, Drummond Island and the southern part of the UP. So, quite a ways north and east.

    They've Only been keeping weather records for around 125 years.. & you're talking hundreds of Million years ago......yea right.

      Your feeble mind's inability to understand a scientific theory or concept does not negate the validity of them. Have and adult take you to a library and read some books to you about the subjects you childishly mock.
