That dude on the track loader really knows his business. I loke to watch people who really know how to run equipment. The boar , George, is easily a two hindred pounder id say. Honestly je would have looked good on a spit ober the fire. But, probably too damn hot for that right now. I want one of those ruger
.44 deer slayers, but wow they are scarce around and on the pricey side if found. The silent film at the end was well done also, remined me of Charley Chaplin but nothing falling on you. Love it
Hogs are destructive. Congrats on convincing them to leave you alone.
That pond is really coming along, George. That's quite the project.
Lololololol 😂. I absolutely enjoyed watching this video/report. I like the pond updates. Keep them coming.
I have one of those Ruger .44 Magnum Carbines. I paid $150 for it about 25 years ago. It wouldn’t shoot twice in a row without jamming. Yep. I fixed it.
I’d like to hear of details of the night scope on yours.
Thanks for watching! That scope is a pulsar Trail 2. It's a true thermal scope. There are a little bit pricey but they are top shelf as they say across the pond.
I really enjoy watching equipment operators work.
Good ones like Tim are a pleasure to watch.
Really liked the old Scott Joplin style piano music during the tech scenes! I guess that hog would be around 212.
Good Shooting George!
Predator, of course.
I like that fan you are using in the hog stand.
He did a bunch of work on the backside of the pond, it will look great and be more manageable
Predator, check😉
Man I wish I would've kept the 44mag Ruger Carbine we owned decades ago, such a handy rife.
Yes sir it really is!
Interesting. Thanks for taking us along.
that is a mighty big pig.
Opening day for expanded archery deer. Went and sat on the perimeter of a developing industrial park, past farmland and hardwood valleys. No luck. Great surprise to see the video pop up. Nice hog. Keeping the cutters? He sure did do a great job around the pond. Opened up so much. A week of high 80's up here. Kind of odd. Back in the 60's this coming week. Looks like you're getting some relief.
Hi mark. Yes we are getting some relief. Temps are well out of the 100s now. I didn't have time to mess with that pig so if his skull stays around I'll get it cleaned up and save it. Otherwise it'll be gone.
Congratulations on getting rid of the pest, at least the vultures helped you out, or at least that I hope so! Your pond is looking wonderful, as a former pipefitter before going to university, I commend you three together on your efforts! I need to do the same thing with our pond, and you have me embarrassed already! Take care my friend!
That wasn’t what I expected. But it worked. Classic. The story of my life brother.🤠 Right up to and including my little late in life newborn daughter….. Keep up the great work brother. Love your positive upbeat non bashing videos. Thank you for your effort!
Predator. Thanks for the update and congrats on the boar hog!
Nice piano playing thanks to Kevin MacLeod, good and interesting video this week George, thanks very much.
Thank you!
Great music, and movie content. Thank you.
Thanks!
Looks like the pond is coming along pretty good . Yeah the dogs keep the pigs run off but the down side is they keep the deer run off too .
Glad ya got em have a blessed one .
James is correct Preadator! And some Ragtime that sounds like it was from the movie the Sting. I'd say he is every bit 200+. Good job on teaching them not to root up your area.
Oh, he's put that 44 Deerfield carbine to use. I am so jealous.
That is a sweet firearm.
Thanks. And that is the original Ruger Carbine. It predated the Deerfield by quite a few years.
Thanks for teaching that one a lesson!
They’re good learners.
👍
Nice one. The easiest way to estimate a hogs weight is the girth weight measurement. You can read about it on line. I have shot and weighed probably a couple hundred hogs. My biggest one I've actually weighed was 255 pounds, but I have killed a few bigger, just couldn't weigh them. I'm guessing your hog weighs between 230 and 250.
I'm also in louisiana. A little town called St.Francisville.
Amazing how large the pond work looks with those trees removed.
Yes it really opened things up.
Congrats on the hog. That 44mag is a boss on the hog.
I knew it when I saw the barrel. I’ve always been a ruger man even in the 90’s I bought 2 both in 7 mags, but those 44’s are almost impossible to find for sale. Yours is in fantastic condition. I’m fairly new to your channel but we have similar taste in firearms. Anyways, congrats on your hog, I can’t stand those animals. Take care from BR
Thise are the same deep curl we use in an 1892.
They hold up better to the higher velocity than the hollowpoint version which seem to be more suited to revolver velocity.
That was my experience as well. Thanks for your comment!
That's a beast alright. Well done.
Hi George, your hog pulled a Arnold Schwarzenegger in predator. He sure is a biggin! Have to go check out the short. I don't seam to be getting most of your shorts. Good hunting I'd say he's a bit over two hundred pounds.🤠
Terry, you hit the predator on the head👍
Lots of Hogs here in Gorman Texas i have trail cam picture of groups of 20 at my feeder and have pictures of several hogs over 250
Great video! When I stumbled up on the twin to your Ruger while we were still living in The Peoples Republic of Maryland, I purchased it right away with hog hunting in our beloved home state of South Carolina as my primary plan for the carbine. However, as fate would have it, I later stumbled up on yet ANOTHER rifle I had lusted after in my younger days, a "JM" Marlin 336 in .444 Marlin and made the difficult decision to trade the Ruger for the Marlin. Given another chance to purchase a Ruger in .44 Magnum I might just have to go in debt and buy it with no offers of a trade accepted.
I love my Pulsar Thermals. Great job and video. Predator and 238lbs
Thanks, and yes on the movie!
Great shooting! So glad that ugly big boy is gone. And that means more corn to fatten up the deer. I really enjoyed seeing the pond footage and was laughing out loud at you and Austin😄 Thanks for another very entertaining video!🐖
Thanks for watching!
Well done 👏 that's a great pig
Great hog. It looked like the .44 Mag did a complete pass through.
A guy I know drops an occasional boar on his property in NE Texas. He buries them, says leaving them out for nature means healthy coyotes that breed more often. There might be something to his thinking.
That's sure something to think about. But I don't have equipment to bury him.
@@TargetSuiteHe, or maybe a relative, has a small backhoe (I think it's a backhoe). It looks like a large Tonka toy.
Wild boar make amazing sausage!
Not this one. He's destined for buzzard poop😉
That's beautiful. 🇨🇦
hard work right there. George, y'all get any of those storms that came through this area last night? We finally got some rain and lots of it. Hog weight ? 215. I'm sure some will not be happy you served him up at the kyote buffet, but just too many to fool with.
Torrential rain went about 5 Mi to our east. We got seven drops. The only plus side is I'd like to keep the pond to dry until we get structure put in.
That’s a good market weight hog!
Liking that rifle! 🇺🇸 🇳🇿
You are correct, a lot of people seem to overestimate the weight of hogs. The two biggest I have shot were 221 and 244 pounds, the 244 pounder was a big, big beast that I think most people would say was 300 pounds. I would think your hog was around 215 pounds. Nice job on dropping him and with the pond dam. Love the video, thanks for sharing.
Nice boar hog George! I think he probably weighs 225lbs or more. I like your night hunting setup as well even though it is missing a lever!! 😂
I could make a "laying pipe" joke here but... eh, that's what everyone was thinking lol
That's a better thermal image than I had in the USMC lol
So he Arnolded your camera. Good choice of guns for that detail. Fast, lite, short distance sledgehammer. I also saw some wienerschnitzel in the background in you pictures.
Ol deep curls. Try the 270gr ones over h110
That sounds like an even better option. I just don't recall ever seeing them for sale.
240gr didn't penetrate the hog. That's interesting.
In a recent little research project of mine, I gathered a heap of sectional density numbers of common handgun calibers and the available projectiles both in factory loads and also in cast bullet companies.
240gr is .186. This is most equivalent to a 220gr with .41 magnum, around 210gr with 10mm, about 165gr in .357mag.
Interesting thing to note however, is how easily it is to achieve sectional density in a rifle. a common 150gr .30-30 is .226, or equivalent to almost 300gr in .44 magnum.
I would say depending on what you loaded the 240gr to, probably a 300gr would have fully penetrated... if that's what you were after.
Good job! Bet that hog would have had a heap of meat in him.
Yes, I was a little surprised as well. But I'm pretty sure that any hard cast round like a 260 grain Montana bullet works or they're 300 grain version would have gone much much deeper.
@@TargetSuite You're probably right about that.
Predator. Nice hog!!
👍 and 👍
Many more to go!
Looks over 200 to me. Nice cutters. I like hitting them behind the ear with anything.
Another great video George. I drag most of those feral hogs off myself for the local predator population to enjoy. However, if it's a young and more manageable female I might give them to locals who enjoy eating them.
Do you also plan to update us on your new solution to the erosion problem you had with the overflow spillway, or do you intend to use the new pipe as a solution to maintain the pond level? TIA
Thanks for your comment. And, yes I will give you more details on both the outflow pipe and also the structure that we're going to put on the wet side. We're just waiting for some cooler weather. I think it's almost here.
Congratulations on getting that big boar. That Ruger PCC .44 magnum sure does the trick. I'm curious what the pipe is for.
Thanks, Roy. The pipe runs under the Levee and provides a way for me to regulate the water level of the pond.
Predator with Aaanuld.
Looks like that 44 magnum get a good job, i’ve only shot one wild hog and it was 500 pounds and I guess the blast from that big 50 caliber lever action was enough to drive them my way. I haven’t seen any more sense.
Haha! Yep, that should have them rethinking your place for decades to come😄
Great shot
Those boar hogs are good to eat as well. Don't let anyone tell you they aren't.
I know some people say that. Bottom line is I just don't have the resources or the time to deal with something like that. So we'll let the buzzards have a fantastic meal
The pond is coming along nicely. Can you eat those feral hogs? Not judging, just curious. We don't have them here in Alaska. Just their big brown cousins. 🙂
Some people say yes. But I wouldn't eat one of these old mature boars. There's just better things to munch on.
1 down with any more to go!
hate to bug you with questions, but about how far would you say he was when you took that shot/recorded him, and what scope were you using? I've been looking around at thermals and am always happy to see more info and examples. thanks!
It was about 55 yards and I was using the Pulsar Trail 2 scope
@@TargetSuite much appreciated! that's what I figured but I'd thought I'd verify.
Try the 35 Remington next time or 30-30 with 170 gr. Bullet.
Nice. Pigman would be proud. Good videos on your channel..
Thanks!
Hello brother how are you doing?
Very nice 👍. I'm sure he's going to taste good. Maybe do a wild hog cook video? I know I would watch. Thank you 😁
P.S I would have eaten him. 😋 We used to hunt wild hog in Florida when I was growing up and they were always very good.
Haha! An old boar with all of his Parts intact would not make for a tender meal.
@@TargetSuite Yeah your right. My father and I would always go for a younger one and a clean kill. We would go for a eat shot they just roll over and it's over. Lol 😂 . Thank you 👍
Enjoy hog hunting. I go south Texas an recuve bow hunting at nite . Also like lever action rifle have many 4570 an 357
Nice
OH NO! no Pork BBQ ?
Not from this big stinker!
I'm going to take a quote from Charlotte's Web. "Some Pig! 🕷🕸🐷
Haha! I love that movie back when my first born was a child.
What is the purpose of your pond? Are you trying to manage fish or is this an emergency water source? Are you in Missouri or further south?
About 215#
so he pulled an Arnold Schwarzenegger from predator, eh?
👍😊 how old are you and still playing in dirt.
I was 11 when Alan Shephard made his first sub-orbital trip into space😉
I think he says he's 29!
@@TargetSuite I was born in 61
You should have invited him in as dinner.
Predator
I'd bet he was 220 plus.
I guessed 220 also. I'll have a scale one of these days.
Why didn't you eat him???
An old mature bore with all of his Parts intact does not make for a good meal.
What a waste of feral pork, that was some bbq to be had.
👍😃✌️🇺🇸💪🐗
i am gonna guess 170 let me know
At this point it's just a game of guessing. No one around here has a scale heavy enough to weigh him.
Buzzards got to eat, same as the worms. Josie Wales
Good riddance.
He's a chunk.
Yeah, that was Arnold the Governator .
