I started graduate school in Biochemistry in 1986. I learned that science, something I had loved my whole life, is of secondary importance-at best-in the research science world. I very soon realized that there is a power structure in research science, and that no matter how smart somebody is, no matter how good their new ideas and research may be, unless the new scientist is willing and able to play within the rules set by that hierarchy, and to play the political game long enough to become a major power in the hierarchy, your research will not be respected. It’s like a game, but one in which the players are also the referees, and the rules committee, and league board of governors. It is quite literally insane. So I am not at all surprised that Weinstein was and is forced out of the mainstream. The people who make up the hierarchy have too much invested to allow something that threatens their own body of work-and all the prestige, income, and security their body of work has gained for them-to survive or thrive. The best and brightest biochemists I studied under acknowledged this. We are now in a dystopian world where scientific progress has run down the deep dark rabbit holes of quantum theory to the point that there is no longer any progress. The only real progress happening is in fields where real experimentation and real world applicability can occur… and physics does not qualify on either score.

Academia "writ large?" has undergone the same pathology that American Politics has by not having term limits.
Can we maybe coin the term "Tenure Abuse"?
Another possible thing happening is that there are more potential scientists being generated, probably worldwide, than their are positions and financing to support.
Has become a ruthless "survival of he fittest", some call it a hunger game, that brings out the worst of humanity in far too many folks that survive the process.
I think this is called intellect without ethics or some such.
On the other hand we have the so-called Review Boards that have generated even more pathology.

In photon propulsion, a spacecraft is propelled by directing a laser beam onto a reflective surface on the spacecraft, and the photons in the beam exert a force on the surface, propelling the craft in the opposite direction.
However, nuclear fusion could potentially be used to generate the energy required to power a laser for photon propulsion. The energy generated by a nuclear fusion reactor could be channeled to a high-powered laser, which could then be used to propel the spacecraft. This method has yet to be developed and is still in the theoretical stages.
Overall, while nuclear fusion is a promising source of energy, it is not a practical solution for directly powering a photon propulsion engine. Nonetheless, nuclear fusion could play a role in providing energy for other propulsion methods such as ion engines or plasma thrusters.

Here's my take: You may totally disagree with him (I do). And it may be that what he's espousing as a solution to the unification of relativity and quantum mechanics turns out not to be the answer.
But Eric Weinstein is not just talking nonsense. He is an extremely smart guy. It would seem the reason he takes awhile to get to his point is that this has been a long time in coming for him. It sounds like he only came to this point reluctantly after being prodded by Joe and Sam. He's telling the story of how he got to this point. I was able to follow.
    1) Long ago, he developed a theory for the unification of gravity and qm
    2) He got caught up in some academic politics during grad school which he did not have the patience or inclination for.
    3) He moved on to other career fields and spent 20+ years contemplating whether he would ever submit this to the powers that be.
    4) He has now decided to talk about it and he believes this may somehow provide us access to the most fundamental aspects of reality.
He may not have your views politically, but cut him some slack. He is an extremely generous guy. He's normally very cautious in his speech. He's obviously frustrated with the status quo and has laid the gauntlet down so to speak by naming some names. Who cares! Give him this moment to present his ideas to the world.
I totally disagree with him on a lot of things. I'm not a democrat. I'm not an atheist. I doubt that coming up with the unification of physics will provide us a way out of our global problems. But I think he deserves the benefit of the doubt in the presentation of his ideas. I for one will be listening to his new podcast, if for no other reason than he's really smart, really kind, and really interesting.

I can provide a list of materials that could be used to create a spaceship. Materials used in a spaceship will depend on several factors, including the type of propulsion system, the requirements for radiation shielding, the need for low weight and high strength, and more. Here are some materials that could be used:
    1. Lightweight alloys such as aluminum, titanium, or magnesium for the spacecraft's structural framework.
    2. Carbon-based composites for components where strength is a critical requirement.
    3. Ceramic materials for thermal protection systems to protect the spacecraft from high temperatures.
    4. Radiation shielding materials such as boron-based composites, hydrogenated plastics, or water.
    5. Energy-absorbent materials such as Kevlar to protect the crew from impact and debris.
    6. Electrical components made from silicate-based ceramics, nickel alloys, and high-temperature polymers.
    7. Solar panels or other energy-generating sources like nuclear reactors that can generate sufficient energy for propulsion and other functions.
    8. Life support systems for the crew made from materials such as carbon dioxide scrubbers, oxygen, filtration systems, and other specialized components.
    9. Sensors and imaging technology made using advanced electronics such as flexible silicon circuits and MEMS (micro-electro-mechanical systems) sensors.
    10. Advanced speciality materials like graphene, aerogels, and super-alloys for specific needs in the spaceship.
It is important to note that the choice of materials depends on the requirements and specifications of the space mission, and we may need to develop new materials in the future that are more efficient and better suited to the unique challenges of space travel.

Photon propulsion is a type of propulsion system that uses photons, or light particles, to produce thrust. Here are the steps to use photon propulsion:
    1. Generate the photons: To use photon propulsion, photons must be generated from a light source. This source can be a laser or a powerful light source such as a solar sail.
    2. Reflect or refract the photons: Once the photons are generated, they must be directed towards the spacecraft. This is done using a reflector or a refractor. Reflectors work by bouncing the photons off a surface, while refractors bend the photons using lenses.
    3. Produce thrust: As the photons are directed towards the spacecraft, they exert a force on the spacecraft. This force is what produces thrust and propels the spacecraft.
    4. Maintain thrust: Photon propulsion is a continuous process, and the photons must be generated and directed towards the spacecraft continuously to maintain thrust.
Overall, photon propulsion is best suited for long-term space missions where sustained thrust is required. While it is a relatively new technology, it has the potential to revolutionize space travel with faster and more efficient propulsion systems.

Leaving the planet was actually more about nuclear war or some other reckless human actions. He used climate change as an example that society can't even slow down for a few seconds, to take tangible action towards mitigating humans negative effects towards climate. Some people on the right turning a blind eye, people on the left trying to legislate the problem away, usually with the main intention of raising revenue or supporting an industry (basically focused on money) (or just virtue signaling), rather than actually trying to fix the problem, or have the patience to actually advocate for it to those who have no reason to understand it, beyond name calling, and belittling those who don't believe. Alienating those individuals, for the purpose of feeling social superiority. (selfish reasons, not actually caring about the issue)

He's definitely hard to follow, goes on side tangents and bounces between threads.
    Cliff notes:
-Were too irresponsible as a species to reasonably care for our planet or handle our current (and future) levels of technology. Given human behavior we're likely to destroy ourselves.
-Our only real hope is to travel beyond our galaxy as Mars and our moon are not viable - so we may thrive as a species.
-Currently, Einsteins laws of physics limit us from travelling faster then light. So we can't travel anywhere meaningful.
-He believes Einsteins's Theory of Relativity is incomplete (because of the Schwarzschild & initial singularities)
-Einstein's theory is the foundation by which we understand theoretical physics. Because its so encompassing were unable to scratch beneath it to "the source code"
    ~Begins to jump around a lot here~
-Einsteins Theory of Relativity is based on a form of Geometry, we later found out (1970s??) that Borhs Quantum Theory and further Particle Theory are also based on a different form of geometry.
-The two parent geometries from which quantum theory and theoretical physics derive don't unify. We don't know why. He believes he found a unifying model utilizing non-chiral asymmetric geometry, to which the fundamental chiral nature of our universe emerged. (This is important)
-If his model is correct, we could possibly circumvent Einstein's laws of relativity while potentially creating a new foundation by which we understand the universe.
-He has two fears if he's right. One, it'll be weaponized before it's useful. Two, it will only reveal that we are indeed stuck within our solar system.
-The physics community discredited his model, writing him off as delusional. He dislikes the community because they fukt him before when he wrote a thesis as a Harvard Grad that would have put him at risk of graduating had he pursued it. In 1994 his theory was discovered to have completely revolutionized Gauge Theory.
-They double fukt him when they barred him from defending his PhD thesis (something about the 4th dimension). He left academia after this and is essentially dedicating this podcast to all his haters.
-Sean Carol's wife doesn't like him. He doesn't like Trump.
He's either on to something or he's completely delusional.

I can provide a theoretical solution for a photon propulsion engine. Photon propulsion or laser propulsion is a proposed method of spacecraft propulsion using lasers to propel a spacecraft. Here are the steps to build a photon propulsion engine:
    1. Choose a suitable laser: A photon propulsion engine needs a high-powered laser capable of generating continuous laser beams. One of the suitable lasers is a carbon dioxide laser, which generates a wavelength of 10.6 microns.
    2. Design the spacecraft: The spacecraft should have a reflective surface that will reflect the laser beams generated by the laser. The reflective surface should be made from a material with a very low absorption coefficient for laser light.
    3. Install the laser: Install the laser on the ground or in space. The distance between the laser and the spacecraft should be such that the laser beam will focus on the spacecraft.
    4. Align the laser beam: The laser beam should be carefully focused on the reflective surface of the spacecraft to ensure that the maximum amount of energy from the laser is reflected.
    5. Generate the laser beam: The laser will generate a continuous beam of photons that will strike the reflective surface of the spacecraft.
    6. Propel the spacecraft: The photons in the laser beam will exert a force on the reflective surface of the spacecraft, which will push the spacecraft forward.
Overall, the design of a photon propulsion engine is still in the theoretical stages, and much research is still required to make it a practical reality.

Shaping a spaceship as a prism and using photon propulsion should not affect the crew in any significant way, even though the photons are being launched in different directions. The photons being used for propulsion would be directed towards the rear of the spacecraft, away from the crew and the sensitive equipment.
When the photons collide with the spacecraft, they would generate some heat, but this would be dissipated away from the crew and the equipment using the spacecraft's cooling system. This system uses radiators to dissipate heat from the spacecraft and maintain its temperature within a safe range.
However, it is important to note that any spacecraft making use of intense sources of energy, including photon propulsion, will require careful design, construction, and operation to ensure the crew's safety. Materials with radiation-shielding properties will also be required to prevent harmful radiation from impacting the crew, especially if the spacecraft travels beyond the Earth's protective magnetic field.
Therefore, when designing a spacecraft, the impact of radiation and heat generated by various propulsion methods should be taken into consideration to ensure that the crew is safe and the equipment operates optimally. Can we go to Mars now!!!!!

A photon propulsion engine is a type of spacecraft propulsion that uses highly concentrated beams of light to propel a spacecraft. It works by absorbing and reflecting light particles in a specific direction, creating thrust that can ultimately move the spacecraft forward. One example of a photon propulsion engine is the solar sail, which uses the pressure of sunlight to push the spacecraft.
To build a photon propulsion engine, it would require advanced knowledge of optics, materials science, and engineering. It's not an easy task to replicate such an engine. It would need specialized equipment, a team of experts, and significant financial resources to research, develop, and test a functional prototype. If you have any specific questions on this topic, I will try my best to answer them.

The question if life exists elsewhere in the universe appears to be answered by the mere fact that we exist, demonstration the universe is capable of producing life. And since most of the buildings blocks involved creation of life here on Earth are common across the universe, it is unreasonable to presume we are alone in the universe.
There is certainly other life that has reached technological levels sufficient to get into space. The big question is can they survive their technology growth long enough to develop mental and social progress sufficient to prevent them from destroying themselves due to residual instinctive tendencies that made them aggressive enough to dominate their planets? If they reach technology sufficient to cross vast expanses of space to reach other systems, by definition, they did expand mentally and socially sufficiently to survive their technology advances.
Any such advanced species will also recognize and likely appreciate the vastness of our universe and thus also the rareness of any other species advancing within the same time frame they themselves exist. This is likely to instill a deep appreciation for discovering such new evolving species. They will also though be aware of the danger of species that have not reached this level of development, meaning they will not want to interact with us until we have reached that same level of development maturity. A lack of sophisticated mental and social development sufficient to overcome self-destructive aggressive tendencies will be a threat to the greater universal community.
It is unlikely they believe they can directly help us reach that development and thus will likely simply observe us, hoping we do achieve this, maybe gently nudging us in the right direction from time to time. They may step in to keep us from totally destroying ourselves to give us additional opportunities to continue to develop toward that goal.
For us to get there, we need to recognize our power addiction is holding us back. Nature tends toward brief states of balance in a universe that is in constant motion (meaning change). We must learn to live with each other and with the rest of our natural systems instead of trying to dominate them. I am not saying technology has no place, it certainly does, or we would never expand into space. But we must learn to do so with balance, not dominance. Until then, we will be unlikely to meet alien life.
Often overlooked in the question of does life exist elsewhere in the universe is what it must mean to not only exist but have the potential to travel across the insane vastness of space. It is easy to recognize that the mere fact that we ourselves exists, is proof, in itself, that life evolves within our universe. It is also easy to notice that because the basic building blocks that allowed us to exist are common across our universe and thus making it highly likely that life has or will also evolve in other parts of the universe as well. But so what if it did or does? How does that matter to us? If life evolved elsewhere at the same time we have, or 10,000 years in the past or future on some planet thousands of light years away, we will never know about it. There may be millions of other life forms on other planets that come and go, maybe even living for millions of years before their planets are destroyed by changes within their own solar system. We’d likely never know about any of them if they or us don’t reach significant space travel technology. Especially if, like us, they are intent on destroying themselves before they reach such technological advancement to venture not only into space, but beyond their own solar system.
Any civilization who has that level of space travel technology also has significant destructive technology, meaning they are easily capable of destroying themselves just as much as we are capable of destroying all life on Earth with our level of technology. But do they also have sufficiently advanced mental and social development to survive having such destructive technology? Or are they like a five year old playing with a hand grenade, like we appear to be?
The quest to understand the potential existence of extraterrestrial life prompts profound reflections on the nature of technological evolution, societal progress, and the delicate balance between advancement and self-destruction. The premise that other intelligent life forms have likely reached technological sophistication to venture into space raises critical questions about the crucial interplay between mental, social, and technological development.
The crux of the matter lies in whether a civilization can transcend its innate aggressive tendencies, the very instincts that fueled dominance on their home planet. As a species advances technologically, the hope is that it also undergoes parallel mental and social growth, creating a harmonious equilibrium that safeguards against self-destruction. The ability to traverse vast cosmic distances implies a certain level of maturity in managing the complexities that arise from technological prowess. In other words, any species that might visit us on Earth, must not only have developed significant space travel technology, but must also have developed mentally and socially sufficiently to survive having lower levels of significant destructive technologies, or they would not exist to visit us here.
In contemplating the cosmic perspective of an advanced alien species, it becomes plausible that they would hold a deep appreciation for the vastness of the universe and recognize the rarity of life itself and even more so for other evolving civilizations, especially those existing concurrently with them. This awareness could instill in them a sense of respect for emerging civilizations and maybe also scientific curiosity for how other species progress through this transition and what causes some to succeed while others fail. For this and other reasons, they may be keenly interested in discovering new, evolving species, like humanity. However, this curiosity might be tempered by a cautious restraint, as they understand the potential dangers posed by civilizations that have not yet reached their level of developmental maturity. It is not hard to appreciate that if you feel constrained from interfering, a five year old playing with a hand grenade might be wisely observed from a distance.
The notion that these advanced beings would refrain from direct interaction until we reach a comparable level of development suggests a patient observation, driven by the belief that true progress must emerge from within each unique civilization. It is highly likely that every species will not benefit from the solutions that worked for other species. They might not perceive themselves as mentors but rather as guardians, intervening only when the threat of self-annihilation looms large, offering a chance for continued growth and development.
Implicit in this perspective is the idea that humanity's journey towards maturity involves overcoming a certain "power addiction." The call to recognize the importance of balance in our interactions, both with each other and the natural world, underscores the need to transcend the dominion-centric mindset. While acknowledging the indispensable role of technology in our expansion into space, the argument advocates for a nuanced approach-one that respects the delicate equilibrium of nature rather than seeks to dominate it.
We as a civilized species need to recognize power addiction is holding us back. Nature tends toward brief states of balance in a universe that is in constant motion (meaning change). We must learn to live with each other and with the rest of our natural systems instead of trying to dominate them. I am not saying technology has no place, it certainly does, or we would never expand into space. But we must learn to do so with the goal being working toward balance, not dominance.
In this vision, the ultimate barrier to encountering extraterrestrial life lies not in the vastness of space but in our own ability to cultivate a sustainable and balanced coexistence. It posits that only when humanity learns to live in harmony with itself and the natural world will we be ready to join the cosmic community of advanced civilizations-a journey that necessitates a collective shift towards balance and away from dominance.

Let me make an eye opening point to your glazed-over-from-weed eyes: If you invent faster than light travel, you are not worrying about nukes anymore, you're worrying about the fact that one rogue pilot can fly a ship into a sun at hyper speed and delete a quarter of the galaxy with the resulting explosion. He says we can't be trusted with nukes. How the FUCK can we be trusted with FTL technology then? Think, man! THINK!!!

The problem is that we are running out of time and we’re no closer to figuring out time travel. Modern problems require problem solutions. We don’t just need a mind as smart as Einstein; we need one even smarter. And Einstein was so bright that individuals like him only come around once every few generations.

You were so busy facepalming, you apparently missed his entire point. He's saying we have to travel to other solar systems, but we don't have the capability now. That's why he's trying to go underneath Einstein's Theory of Relativity, to see if there is a way to travel faster than the speed of light, because according to him, this is perhaps the only way to ensure the survival of the human species.

On April 1, 2021, Weinstein released a draft paper on Geometric Unity in a guest appearance on the podcast The Joe Rogan Experience. Weinstein qualified in his paper that he "is not a physicist," but an "entertainer" and podcast host. It received strong criticism from some in the scientific community. Timothy Nguyen, whose PhD thesis intersects with Weinstein's work[b] said what Weinstein has presented so far has had "no visible impact" and "gaps, both mathematical and physical in origin" that "jeopardize Geometric Unity as a well-defined theory, much less one that is a candidate for a theory of everything."[17]
