      @@colinwoodruff5292 it depends-- the DCF/S agencies in various states seem to be a collection of messes of inconsistency...
      In some cases, kids get taken from their relatively stable homes and parents at the drop of the proverbial hat, while in other cases you hear about how the agencies had evidence of/good reason to suspect that abuse is happening (like bruises, hospitalizations, etc..) but nothing happens until it's too late and a kid(s) die(s) and then there's a bunch of finger pointing and blame shifting, but no real reforms.
      But given the basic research I've done, it does seem that overall, in most cases, Family Courts and DCF/S Agencies seem to try pretty hard to keep kids in their homes, and if that is just not feasible, at least with family. There really does seem to be effort put into not sending kids into state custody, as that isn't good for anyone, least of all the kids, unless the kids are in physical danger and there is simply no family to take them. Just my layman's worthless opinion 😃

      @@chitlitlah It seems to me that he is just agreeing that the lunatic in the video is a poster boy for the type of parent who gets their kids taken away, but like you are implying in your reply, it seems inconsistent to then say that it's easy to get your kids taken away, as then the lunatic wouldn't be an exemplar of getting kids taken by the state...

She apologised because she didn't want jail...the fact that she laughed during the impact statement says everything about her heart. Just looking who is running for President and his plan to become a dictor, so you never have to vote again. Isn't that wonderful. Obviously you are talking about yourself or someone you know. I find former addicts are the worse in thinking everyone is a addict. I actually had recovery addict with 60 days sober saying I was a addict because I was depentant on a medication, that I take daily as prescribed. I am dependant on my blood medication also, but a lot addicts think you take a control substance you have to be a addict because they abused it and cannot be honest that most people can take a control medication and not abuse it. Addiction is a mental illiness, dependamcy is not addiction, but can be one of the many sign of it. But on it own it is not addiction. Many addict may get off the drug but still have addictive personilty and switch other addiction like gambling. 80% of addicts have underlining mental health issues and they are basically self medicating by numbing their feeling. But people can be jerks without drugs and this guy has been in jail for a year. Also when you are in jail you are around people who do the tough talk etc so you are not around people who are giving sound advice either. 80% of those in prison have a mental illiness.

    Many years ago I was sitting in a Waffle House at about 5 AM eating breakfast when I overheard a man calling another man names. The man had appeared before that other man in family court and lost his case. I sit there quietly and ate. I did notice the Judge was not returning words and was also trying to eat. The manager on duty asked the man to leave and he did finally leave. The Judge finished eating and paid his check and left. AS I was out of town it was several weeks before I had a chance to hear what happened. It seems the Judge opened the case back up and modified the child support order and also added some spousal support. Moral of the story? Don't bad-mouth Judges inside or outside the courtroom!

    • @DominicNJ73
      @DominicNJ73 Рік тому +5

      Whoever told you that lied. A judge can't reopen a family court matter and modify the terms after the fact unless the other parent requests the matter be reopened and can show cause as to why the motion for support needs to be modified.

      @THE-michaelmyers Рік тому +15

      @@DominicNJ73 My GF is a family law Attorney that is in the same Law Firm as the wife's Attorney. If I understand the case dynamics that case still had some final business and while the case was basically over the case was not actually closed or a final order entered into the record. In some states, these final orders can take weeks to get into the record. I did make a mistake when I used the words "The Judge opened the case back up" that was an error on my part. I should have said the Judge went back to a still open but final case and made some adjustments. Here is another point. Even if the Judge could not have opened the case up the Judge can still charge you with disturbing the peace and have you arrested. It is always best to just leave a Judge eating breakfast alone!

    My ex-wife during our child custody hearing “cocked off” like a maniac. Cussing, threatening, and insulting the judge. She has Multiples Sclerosis amd after our second child was born she has multiple flare-ups that did a number on her brain and exacerbated some psychological issues he had, and she developed borderline/histrionic personality disorders, and DID. She however no matter what care she was giving, and even under order from the court to receive psychiatric care, refused and would not seek to get better. Three lawyers back to back withdrew from representing her. The last hearing was via zoom and she was muted by the judge, she obviously kept running her mouth. And while doing that the judge gave her verdict that I got full custody of both our children, with her on,y allowed to have third party professionally supervised (children services) visitation. The kids wanted nothing to do with her, and after three years of that she finally started to seek help, but it’s too late now. Psychiatric issues can cause defendants in any type of case to lose badly if their issues go untreated,

    I just came across your channel yesterday while I have been watching the circus that is the Darrell Brooks trial. I have to say I truly appreciate your unbiased assessments of the cases you present. I have seen defense attorneys that refuse to acknowledge obviously bad and criminal behavior by defendants in court. Very refreshing to get straight up intelligent commentary. I now look forward to your episodes.

    Hey Bruce quick question... in the Johnny depp trial I’m constantly hearing the lawyers and witnesses talk over each other and we also hear the audience laughing occasionally. In other trials I’ve seen much tighter reigns on this type of behavior. Is this abnormal how much we are seeing this happen in the Johnny depp trial?

    • @rolirolster
      @rolirolster 2 роки тому +22

      My personal guess is because it's a civil case. Although the lawyer witness thing must happen in criminal cases as well.

      Its the difference between a civil case and a criminal one, also the charisma of the various witnesses and even the main parties involved likely have a lot of influence over how it is proceeding.

      Judge A has been pretty strict about courtroom decorum. That's why one of the bailiffs sit over by the judge's door so AH can't walk out. She threw EB out of the courtroom for breaking the rules. She should be brought up on charges of manufacturing evidence.
