I used to work at a shoe store with my 25-year-old brother, and often at night-near closing when we'd straighten out shoes and clean the store up when it wasn't as busy-I'd play some of your videos to help me relax after a long and difficult day. When my brother noticed me listening, he'd ask what I was watching. I'd tell him about all of the videos I'd watched and the stories I'd heard-it was the best-we'd gotten closer, but he passed away unexpectedly in his sleep overnight on September 21st, 2022. Your videos are literally the only thing keeping me going right now. I miss him terribly.
I'm so sorry for your loss, but it's great to see that you two still had the chance to get closer, thanks to Joel's storytelling. I'm sure that meant alot to him 🙏 Whenever one door closes, another door opens somewhere else. I wish you all the best 💐
sure, i can explain it to you no problem! i know it can be tricky to understand. in most of these videos, there are stories about somebody being sexually assaulted. im sure it's fine for anybody who doesn't feel compassion, and for those who don't have the trauma of experiencing something like that. what "coded" means is that you are heavily implying something without saying it. so, stories about sexual assault and those that have it heavily implied. when i say this, i do not mean it in a bitchy-kind-of-way. but those stories are deeply disturbing and should have a content warning before being shared. for context, i am about to use the word "trigger" as in the psychology term. these videos can be triggering to some, if not most people who have gone through traumatic experiences having to do with said topic. when somebody is triggered, that means somebody feels extremely distressed to the point of having a panic attack. it can cause an intense mood swing for the worse. for example somebody with Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) can be triggered by things that seem unimportant to you, but can greatly effect them. unless you have it, it isn't something you can totally understand but that's okay. you don't need to in order to listen. it's just an example after all. this is more or less me simply sharing my opinion about my love for joel's videos before they got "triggering." i can cope with it, and so can many others. but hearing something so alarming without warning is never easy. it makes me feel sick and anxious to the point of dissociating, and not being able to breathe properly. but once again, i can handle it. i am an adult who can handle his trauma, but that is not the case for many other people. it is the same as taking a war veteran and putting a video of rapid gunfire next to his ear. sure, you may want to disagree with that! but you can't if you are unable relate on a personal level. everybody handles their trauma differently. PTSD is PTSD. doesn't matter what caused it! so if you are following now, that's great! if not, i can break it down further.

Just about the time that I had given up finding a UA-cam channel where the narrator does not feel the need to overly dramatize every single syllable and try to infuse every word with the main point of the entire story... I found you! And I'm very glad I did
@@ebenbelezakiala2506 THANK YOU!!! Me too, but, every time that I sat something, I am pilloried by listeners who say that they are enthralled by the narrator's narration. I guess the days when the average person knew how to read and was called upon to do so regularly, thus was able to and exposed to good narrators is so long ago, that people no longer know quality when they hear it. Which means, they rarely do and know no better.
Another great video, Joel! Gotta say, though, when it got to the true crime story section, I was half expecting the Gabby Petito case to be one of them. It would've made sense, considering the Lifetime biopic just came out recently.
I love the 3rd story "yeah I spent 5 minutes taking my gun apart because California and immediately got assaulted" next time just break the law and be able to protect yourself.
Story 3, I'm just wondering where exactly in AZ the narrator was that he would even have to enter NV at all to get to San Diego. He would have to be right in the NW corner of the state but also mentions ASU at the beginning which is way further south. 🤔
